- Unbelievable Crazy Old Coins! So many different varieties of early silver coins. John, Josh, and Shawn invited us to their 1730’s Tavern Farm. It was a sloppy muddy mess and we had arguably our best coin hunt ever. Multiple bucket list coins for everyone! Had no idea at the time this would end up being the 200th episode of THB. It was just meant to be...

Nice one! Congrats on 200 eps! Brad needs to stop being so matronizing.
Love the" non dug" Pabst blue ribbon example, Congrats on 200 and hope many more to come.
Thanks fellas!
Kurt call me crazy but you look like you are losing weight. Bill too! Tell Bill to keep it up because before he knows it you guys will be comparing smooth coins to his butt instead of Brads. ;)
You guys are awesome. You definitely make me want to start metal detecting. Gotta say as a coin collector, I cringe when you wipe those coppers like that and cry when the wire brush comes out. That silver trime, WOW! I’m so jealous!
No. THANK YOU HOOVER BOYS, for taking the time to record, edit and share your videos. I always look forward to Wed. You guys rock!
Thank you Bryan! We appreciate it
Wow!!! This field was really giving wonderful coins and buttons!! Congratulation everyone!!! Yipppeeee!!!
Thank you Gail
Wow! That is an amazing site. Congrats on hitting 200 episodes. Thank you Kurt, Brad, Bob, Bill, Leo and THB B-squad for doing what you do.I am looking forward to 200 more.
Thank you Brother. Means a lot
All I can say is WOW..
it's all about knowing where to look..
History is everywhere..
Congrats on 200 and here's for 1000 more! Hour long Hoover Boys works for me every Wednesday! Thanks Guys for everything!
Thanks! I wish we had that much footage every week
amazing; war of 1812; Spanish, French, English, early America; another field of dreams; we now know the coins that were circulating at that point in time; wow; how are you going to top this episode
Thank you Kevim. Don’t think it will be topped anytime soon
They would cut silver coins like a way of making change. It may cost you 1/4 silver coin.
Cool finds for sure. You all have a great day
B-Rad had one heck of a day! The 1852 Trime that Kurt got is 100 years older than me. I am a 1952 'mint'. Congrats on 200 episodes!
Hahaha! Thanks Al. All the best
The big fella got some exercise on this dig. What a lot of fun.
Thanks Dennis
your whole attitude made this the best detecting film I've seen in the U S Stay healthy all
Thanks! We appreciate it. You too
Holy Moly! You guys Hoovered that field of so many coins it was unbelievable. I couldn't believe the stuff you were diggin' up. It sure makes a person want to find out every old place that used to have a tavern on it from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It seems that a lot of coins changed hands, and due to the beverages drank, a lot of coins fell on the ground and were lost. I can just see those fellows back then staggerin' away from the tavern, or hangin' half out of their saddles, as they made their way up the trail or road to home, or further along their journey. I wonder how soon that became farm fields, or if it was woodland at the time? That was some really nice soil to be diggin' in for sure. This was truly amazing! Congrats on the 200th episode, and glad I could be here to see it. Fantastic!
Thanks Lesa. I think it was also a working farm when it was a tavern. Lots of activity. All the best
12:50 keep digging and you could find the body 😆 it was around somebodys neck, judging by the hole in the top of the coin
What a hunt truly unbelievable this is one that will be remembered for years to come.
Thank you Faron!
If there is a heaven and you get to go, it would be fun spending eternity looking down and looking back at how each of the artifacts and coins came to be where you found them.
Absolutely! Thank you
WOW! What a great site! Congrats to all of you on the historic finds! Great episode, Kurt!
Thanks Robert
My elderly Aunt used to say “Good Night”. It was great to hear you say that!
Shame Bobby wasn't out don't see too much of him but great to see he is sporting the MWR shirt in support of the armed forces we just had our poppy week great cause, and what a day you guy's had love this channel always fun informative and well put together say hi to all the diggers that give us a great programme.. so much silver wow..Take care stay happy and healthy.😯👍👍👍🎥
You forgot to say congratulations on 200th episode well done the hoover boys..& bobby
Thank you for the kind words and continued support. I wish we all had the same schedule. All the best
@@thehooverboys Hey thanks for that stay happy and healthy..all the very best to the guy's and all the other great subscribers too..have a great week..👍
Don’t know how nobody can’t like your videos you guys are fun to watch and all the history you guys are saving as well dig on
Thank you for the support Andy
Outstanding job Boys! Getting to 200 episodes is an incredible feat doing what you do. Making 200 videos isn't much of an achievement for a channel that does scripted content, but searching for pieces of history under the ground is a horse of a different color. Even with the research you do before you start swinging, there is always the chance of coming up empty (outside of modern/iron trash) and you end up having to distill several different days/sites to make something worth the editing time. I know any day out is better than a day at work, even if you don't find anything (but it may be hard to make a video from).
Living in Richmond Virginia, I love being able to see all of the history that surrounds me. Heck, I grew up less than a quarter mile from a Civil War cannon foundry and would climb up on the cannon mould that was in the woods near our house. I remember finding pieces of slag from the smelting and picking them up off the surface. I actually still live less than a mile from that site. I'd love to get permission to dig the farm field next to that, but alas, I have no equipment (yet). If The Hoover Boys are ever in the area, I'd love to go out with you guys. I'll even be your camera man, so Kurt can actually get some time digging instead of filming everyone else's big silver! Congratulations again on 200 episodes and here's to 200 more!
Wow David. Thank you for the wonderful comment. Thanks for sharing your story. You live in a great area. Love hearing stories like that. All the best
And ,WOW!!!, guys that was a great day!! Gotta be arrowheads that close to water..crazy silver day.. hope ya get back soon with Bob..
Thanks! My eyes are always looking for them
That capped bust dime looks like a STATESOFAMERICA variety, too! Congrats on the 200th episode. You guys are a ton of fun to watch!
Thank you for the support!
its so wonderful to watch the coin toning...the cameo bust really comes through nice and dark.... allowing ones coin to dry ...air dry ....without rubbing the heck out of it in pure excitement and curiosty is outrageously hard! 1730 killer coin
Hoover boys Rock! Can't go on a Easter egg hunt with the kids so the next best thing a coin hunt with Hoover boys happy Easter everyone
Absolutely! It was a blast
Thanks for all the adventures.
Thank you for the support! All the best
Wow, great hunt Kurt. I'm at a loss of words right now. Great video and great finds. Take care and HH. Jim
Thank you Jim. All the best
AWESOME guys.... wish I could have been there!!!!!!
We appreciate it. Thanks
Congrats to everybody for your amazing finds, what a hunt!! i have a identification for the first little copper coin of the video and that's the oldest coin of the day, it's a french copper coin minted late 1600 by king Louis the XIV, a coin call "Liard de France" you can see the letter ARD on the back, HH, a french subscriber...
Thank you for the info! You nailed it. We appreciate the support. All the best
Brian had wheat pennies
There are alot of us scavengers out there. I son used to watch your show alot! I would watch him ooo and ahhh at your treasures!
😘you get into some serious clay dirt and that s great to make clay pots with and my daughter Crystal is an artist. Watch her first book come out. She s a new author and was asked to write more...
FANTASTIC DAY.. THANKS FOR SHARING
That looked like a full days work! YES, we need more Shawn and his Flyers gear. Way better than Brad’s Crapitals. Nice one THB.
Hahaha! Thanks
It's like an amusement park for metal detectorists ! Nice !
Yes it was! Thanks
Congrats Brad on your 1730 king Louis silver. Miss you all my brothers. Hey Kurt I will be your camera man anytime lol. Amazing finds to you all. Congrats Andrew on your first trime. Welcome to the trime club.. Awesome site Kurt my brother. Kurt call that field the bulls-eye field cause you all are dead on target lol.
Thanks Brother! I don’t mind running around filming everyone. I did it to myself
LOL the "non-dug example" of the PBR can made me crack up.
Haha!
@@thehooverboys I'm new to metal detecting and I'm just curious where do you guys go to dig. I wanted to try my state parks but it's illegal in all of them any tips at finding locations.
Cracking video and finds mate, congrats on your 200th episode I've enjoyed them all and look forward to the next 200..happy hunting..Kev..UK
Thank you Kev! All the best
So much fun watching you guys.
We appreciate the support Larry
Hi guys. Bought my first metal detector today! Inspired by hooverboys, can’t wait to get out there. You have given me some clue as to what I’m doing but I have a lot to learn. I’ll dig it all, and take the trash with me! Thanks guys, congrats on 200. Liam, UK
awesome!!! Good luck out there. :)
Hey Liam! Good luck in the hobby. Your ground is much older then ours.
Anybody else like watching the best videos several times?
me, me! pick me!
Love the long videos!! Gives me something to watch throughout the day.
Thank you for the support! All the best
P.S. One other thing I appreciate your NOT doing, is there's one guy on another show that goes alone & pisses me off every time he thinks he's found something, he backs up and has to have a "moment to calm," himself before going on. Yeah, you guys show how you get the shakes while waiting for the other guy to come see, but that's not a silent side shot staring into the woods for no reason. NEXT!! Thank YOU for respectfully NOT wasting our time👍🙂
I appreciate the feedback
That’s awesome to see him dig his first trime!! Congrats
Thanks! It was a special day
wow! what a good hunt. that field really produced the goodies
Thanks Louis!
The non-dug example of the PBR can made me laugh out loud. 😄 Good episode, guys.
Thank you Jen. All the best
Bob him and brad are the heart an soul of the hooverboys
That was an absolutly great episode.
So many cool coins.
Im happy for you
An amazing adventure. I presume old coins and other metal valuables are now of great treasure. I am also collecting old coins and antique jewelry boxes and silver spoon. I am from the Philippines, ur video teaches me to treasure my old coin collection....old watches and silver materials and bronze and nickles. Thank you. I enjoyed watching ur videos...
I can´t understand you find so many coins. That´s fantastic!!!
We detect some rich areas. This place was one of the best hands down
Congratulations to all of you! Congratulations to you on the 200th episode! Keep Digging up the History! !!!!!!
Thanks Jamey! All the best
You guys are sooooo lucky to have a spot like that. Awesome finds in the easiest soil in the world to dig. Wow!!!!
SUPER video and finds!! I'm virtually speechless as what to say. All the finds are just great ! Congratulations to you all!!
Thanks Bartley!
Congrats Kurt & the boys ! Looking forward to the next 200.
Thanks James!
Wow Wow Wow .... Awesome coin day as you said Kurtiss ... amongst all the coins that last ferdenan reale had some bold detail ... but all of it is great stuff , great watching buddy
Thanks brother! It was hands down one of our most memorable hunts
You have awesome friends man and a great life
Thank you for the support
That was an 1853 No Arrows Half Dime. They added the arrows on the date early in the year, and the no arrows variety had a Mintage of just 135,000! It’s a really nice semi key and has the second lowest Mintage of any seated half dime
Dang! I didn’t even realize that. Great catch. I’ll have to tell Shawn. Thanks!
"this is josh, errr .... john." yea it was definitely a good day for these guys. jealous. congrats
Thanks Sam
Non dug PBR, haha love it
Haha! Thanks
One of my favorite episodes. I've watched this 4 times. Awesome digging boys, for real.
Thanks Andy! Mine too
Silvers!!! woohoo!!! What a day you guys had!! Wow!!!
Thank you for the support! All the best
Cant wait for more to come!
Thank you for the support
No problem, doing what i love to do! Tons of old fields and homes in my town here in michigan.
Ha! U know who the real coin addicts are cuz they stay til the sun goes down!! 😎🌄
Yup! Every hunt
That old hammered copper looked like it had the letters KON which may be short for KONIG - the German word for King, hence the coin may be from a German state, such as Prussia or Bavaria. If it is indeed German, it was likely owned at some point by one of the Hessians - German mercenaries sent to help the British during the revolutionary war.
Thank you for the info! I’d love to see a non dug example. All the best
It could also say the Dutch word for king “koning” so might be worth looking into Dutch coins. But it doesnt look like anything Ive ever seen before.
Or Swedish for Konung.
Re Mi Cannot be Dutch, considering that the Netherlands wasn’t a monarchy until 1806, long after hammered coins went out of use. It also cannot be Bavarian, as Bavaria didn’t become a Kingdom before 1815. However it could also potentially be Dano-Norwegian, as the Danish and Norwegian word for king is konge.
@@LordDim1 I love reading the Hoover's boys comments I learn more from the hoover boys and their community then I did in 12 years of history class and it was my favorite subject. Thank y'all for that.
The kings of coppers strike again!!, with a little silver thrown in just for fun. WOW!!!
Thanks Mike!
Great show Kurt no Deus? You’d be finding a lot more!😉lol maybe a gold coin to!
I just found a caped bust dime 1821 in great shape your looking for the 1822 key date
Haven’t used the Deus in a long time
Yes. More Deus, more better.
Thank you for all of the fun in the 200 episodes. I have enjoyed them all.
Thank you for the continued support Larry
200 Great episodes!
Thank you Mary!
You guys Never get old! Always fun to watch. Most of us could only dream of a day like that. Thanks for Bringing It. Bob ...... I’m heartbroken for you man.
Thanks Edward!
Sorry Bobby 😂 LOL
Hehe
What a grand dig! A few years ago a group of my daughter's clients asked to hunt my yard. They didn't find anything. A few days later, they brought an antique silver caged perfume bottle from one of their hunts and gave it to me. That started my collection of bottles from that maker. I continue to be amazed at the generosity of those kind men. p.s. I caught Kurt's pneumonia.
Thank for sharing Alicia. Sorry about the pneumonia. Stay on top of it. I never want to do that again
You trick me in the intro thought bob was gonna be there
He should have been
Wow that field was awesome. Looked like one hell of a day
Thank you for the support! All the best
Best detectorists on youtube......change my mind
Thank you for the kind words Johnny
I miss Bobby in the 2022 and 2023 videos. He's a necessary "Personally".
Go get some Gold Hoover Boys!
We all miss him
Another fine job guys! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Josh
Episode 200 is exactly why you guys are the best! Another greater video!! Thanks Hoover boys!!
Thank you Jeff. We appreciate it
I think you need a shirt that says, "BE SOMETHING STUPID!"
Also, LOVE Bobby's reactions. Wish you'd been part of the dig, but it sure is funny to watch when you say you want to "throat punch" someone! (Watch out, Brad!) 😂🤣
Hahaha! Thanks Sharon
Insane!! Happy 200th Boys!! Great episode, thank you for sharing!!
Thank you Chad!
Congrats on 200!!!
Thanks Luke
Woohoo watching the 200th all the way across the pond in Wick Scotland. Good work boys xx
Wow! That’s awesome. Thank you for the support Lynne. All the best
ConBRADulations !! JKJK. Awesome permission great finds. Congrats all!!
Haha! Thanks Phil
I have watched all 200 Hoover boys videos and loved every one of them. That being said this was one that answered a question I’ve had since episode 20. I found a lead piece in a colonial judges field in a the town of St. George West Virginia. I wrote in to magazines, called historical societies from all over, and spent hours on different forums trying to figure out what the lead piece is. To make a long story well long you answered my question today with the war of 1812 powder keg plug, that’s the same as the one I found. all the experts on the internet called it a button a carved bullet a coin melted into a .69 caliber three finger and countless other things. Thanks for finally answering my question
That’s awesome Shane! Congrats on the great find. I think that’s the first I’ve seen. Shawn told be what it was a week after the dig. It was hard to find any other examples but it made sense to me. All the best
Good one! so much sand, and Brad's luck is amazing. Get some footage that isn't Brad!😂
Thanks Lynn
Bring on 200 more! The Hoover Boys beats anything on network TV!
Thank you for the kind words and support Andy
Happy 200!
Thank you Drew
Wow great job guys! What a day in the fields!!! And Bradley what-uggggg
Thank you for the support! All the best
Just an update on the silver US coin found in the UK by a friend is in fact a 1796 Draped Bust HALF DOLLAR!!! Currently valued at around £40,000😮
That’s insane! Early America Silver is quite rare and valuable as you see. Huge congrats to him
Great hunt guys. So happy for all the history found and saved. Stay dry and warm. It turned off cold here but will be in the 70's for our hunt on Saturday. Weird huh?
Thanks Mary. The rain this year has been killing me
Good luck Saturday
from you, that means a lot. stay dry!
Dang u wish I could make a guest appearance with yall, I'm just down here in southern Maryland haha. Great video lol.
Thanks Kyle. We can come down that way
If you do, try to get permission to the farm land in Lower Marlboro. Some of those homes are from late 1600s early 1700s.
Can I come too 😎
I'm northern maryland. if u guys plan this invite me, lol. I'll have to get a metal detector first though 😂
Amazing hunt guys! Gotta thank the whole crew for the enjoyment you've all brought me over the last 200 episodes...you guys are truly one of the most under-subscribed channels on TH-cam. I actually stopped watching this one last night so that I could watch the rest tonight!
Thank you for the kind words and support. It’s a small hobby compared to others
BOB!!!!!!!!!! Yes man whooooo hoooooooo
Hahaha
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you
I really want to come dig with you guys!!! I’m in Ohio and up for a road trip!
Thanks Dustin
Awesome finds , thanks guys !!!
Thank you Wayne
Y’all made me buy a metal detector, I can’t wait till things warm up so I can find some coins
I hope you finds lots of something stupid!
@@constancegreiner906 oh I have lol
