Ghosts is a British sitcom first broadcast on BBC One in April 2019. The series follows a collection of ghosts from different historical periods haunting a country house while sharing the house with its new living occupants. The series is written and performed by many of the cast members of Horrible Histories and Yonderland, and is now in its third season.
I was hoping either Utkarsh or Stephen would acknowledge this.. was disappointed that they didn't...
HBO Max has the original version, and I'm looking forward to checking it out. I agree we do manage to butcher a lot of British remakes, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how funny the U.S. version is.
British version is so much better...and very funny.

I feel like something may have happened back stage to piss him off…he seemed really stand offish and I know he is so funny and talented but it was weird to insult the host and say your proud of not learning French seems like he needs to get out more
While I do wonder if something happened to where he felt upset by something before this interview, I think people are also missing the dry and sarcastic humor that this actor also sports from time to time. If you look at the videos and stories that the show he’s on posts everyday, you get more of a feel of him.

in case you didn't or couldn't remember it, the Haradrim guy who dropped dead in front of Frodo when Faramir first showed up was very much white. Also the servants of Sauron were many and there's no shortage of "supposedly white" among them-Peter Jackson himself played a pirate shot by Legolas in the movie, and those Umbar pirates are mixed Numenors.

I love Ghosts too. I don't get into Drama so much, especially what I call the cops and robbers show, because they're all the same. I would watch a Drama if it was a period piece, like The Tudors or Vikings.
7:08 there are some pretty dark orcs in there! Haha! Ah yes return of the king, all dark humans are evil... not very good.
Gan-buri-dan (spelling, but it's been 40 years since I was a Tolkien fan) may have been melanized. Also the corsairs and the southern men.
Unfortunately, Ghan-buri-ghan (spelling is right is think) was not part of the screenplay, so those movies only people have no idea who he and his people are. And considering that he is seen as a wild man, primitive and literally grass skirt wearing, with a thick, barely speak Common Tongue accent, good guy or not, people would complain. But yes, he was darker than the pale Northmen descended Rohirrim, and darker than the Gondoreans, but still more of an olive complexion than outright black or brown.
The Haradrim and Easterlings were definitely brown. Basically in Tolkien's stories, if you weren't white then you were on Sauron's side, because non-white people are inherently evil.

Presently, I'm binging "Ghosts" on Demand (on S2), and am really enjoying it so far; it's fresh, it's clever, and it really keeps the viewer engaged. Some of the fans that watch this version also watch the original series, and tend to like both, while also comparing characters and things for fun. I like that the CBS version of the show will bring notice of the original, as well as bringing it’s own type of fun. I didn’t even know any version of this show existed until I happened to catch an episode of this one and became a fan.

@@_Amit_Sunil Yeah, but the appropriate response in that case is to correct Colbert with the right pronunciation, not to act hostile and passive aggressive over what was doubtless an honest mistake. I actually looked up another video where this guy was introduced just to hear how the name was supposed to be pronounced: the pronunciation in that video was exactly the same. English might be his native language, but his name isn't native to English, and you can't get irate when people make a mistake mispronouncing a name they have never heard before.
@@joehavermann7729 Welll... I think it's the host's job to find out how to pronounce their name but Lord knows we each struggle with names from some other cultures.
@@raehannbryce Sure, but it’s easy to see how that could happen. He relies on staff. If they consulted other instances where the name was mispronounced, as it was in the TH-cam videos I saw, they would have given the wrong info. Mistakes happen. It’s best to handle them with grace.
