    I'll try to keep this short Bill. I'm from Pennsylvania. I retired from the Postal Service in 2007. The wife of a friend of mine said, " If you're going to take a motorcycle trip you have to go to Banff." I said, "Banff. Where's that?" She replied that it was in Alberta Province in Canada and that her Mother was a world traveler and that Banff was one of her favorite places of all the places she had been. I had my plans to get to the West coast on my solo ride and took her up on her suggestion. I left on my journey August 7th, 2012 at 6:38 a.m. and came home September 11th. I was gone for 35 days. I tented for 28 of those days and I put on 10,060 miles. It's WAY TOO MUCH to go into all the details, BUT yes, indeed that was an epic trip. And yes, the highway was route 93 which was really a great highway that provided the entire distance with a marvelous view. I went up to Jasper. On the way to Jasper it was fabulous to see Lake Louise, Lake Merriman. And especially the National Park of WATERTON on the way back out of Canada. And what was so glorious was that Waterton's sister Park is Glacier National Park right next door or should I say adjacent to Waterton. It is ALL SO BEAUTIFUL TO BEHOLD. There is soooooo much to share. But I'll stop here. All I can say is, enjoy each and every day whether on your bike or not. God Bless.

      Thank you @leviborger8543 ! I've got my plan pulled together and do have route 93 on it. Right now the plan is around 6,500 miles with 16 days of riding. There is just so much to see and do, it is hard to decide what to leave out. Along with the Canada ride, I have some US things such as lolo pass, Million dollar highway, Highway to the sky, beartooth pass and sea to the sky I also have included. The hard thing is to decide what to leave out...lol. I do greatly appreciate your suggestions! I will most definitely enjoy each day. Thanks so much for the ideas. I'll eventually have a video on the ride. Hopefully you'll be able to watch it and can relive some of the sights you encountered on your ride! God bless!

    If this doesn’t inspire people to get off the couch and take a ride to enjoy this epic God-given landscape we’re blessed to have, I don’t what else would! Stumbled across this video, love the balance in narration, to all the riding, and choice of music, could not have been done better! And the community, the locals you meet along the way, the genuine, wholesome conversations enjoyed, it just doesn’t get any better than that. I read where Canada is on your calendar. Sub with Dry Rock Studio (Robert). He’s a good Ol Canada guy, has an incredible channel with content he’s ridden all over our Country, and would be an outstanding resource for local knowledge riding all over Canada too. Tell him I sent you; he’s one of thee very best. He’d probably enjoy catching up and riding some with you. Thanks for such great content you’ve provided us, brother.

    A great video, Bill. It reminds me of my trip, aboard my Yamaha FJR1300a, from Atlanta to Seattle, down the west coast, then home through the desert southwest. I didn't make all the stops you folks did, seeing the landmarks and such, but the ride, especially through New Mexico was magical to me. It was 20 days, and 7835 miles. I camped and stayed in a hotel every third night. To be honest I think I was surprised at what a 56 year old man can do, with a strong spirit of adventure, a strong Faith in my creator, and an always optimistic outlook. Remembering going past Birmingham, Alabama, with less than 200 miles left to home plate, and thinking to myself, "My gosh, I'm not even tired. I think I could stay on the road full time after I retire." BTW, thinking now of getting a Lees-Ure Lite pop up tent camper /trailer to do just that. I hope to go back, and thanks to your video, see the many places and enjoy some of the same experiences that you did.
    BTW, if your group is looking for another great adventure, I encourage you to travel to Seattle, and definitely go through Montana. These are places you won't forget....
    God Bless and keep you safe always, in your travels and the rest of your life...... Thanks, SO much for the adventure, Greg

      @billschreiber  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @letitrest4662 Hey Greg, thank you so much for the nice comments. So glad you enjoyed! Sounds like you ride a lot of miles like me. This summer I plan to ride 16 days into Canada for a 6,500 mile ride, and going through Montana and New Mexico. I plan to video it, so hopefully I'll have another video out sometime in August. I don't make any money from my videos, mainly do it for my friends and me, allowing us to relive the experience. I'll be able to show the folks at the retirement center what I used to do.......lol. I do feel blessed that I'm still able to ride at my age (late 60s), so doing it while I'm able, knowing it'll be no time at all before I cant do that kind of riding anymore. I might be able to extend my riding via a trike, which is not out of the question. You be safe out there my friend! God bless! Bill

      @@billschreiber I would like to start doing iron butts and cross country rides. My biggest fear is Deer and wildlife wandering out in front of me. How do all of you deal with this? Especially at dawn and dusk.

    • @billschreiber
      @billschreiber  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@iceberg9248 Good morning. That's a good question, and definitely something to take into consideration. We normally don't do anything special about it. I guess the only thing I can say we do, which may help some, is we try not to travel after dark when they are more prevalent. We have been fortunate, that none of us have hit a deer, but we have seen them often. I guess we just hope for the best and keep alert. I do know they have these cheap plastic "whistles" that you can attach to cars, which deer supposedly can hear and run away. I have never placed them on my bike, but have them on my car, and I've never hit a deer in my car (lots of deer in Tennessee). That may be something worth considering. Best of luck and stay safe out there!

      Thanks Michael! It was a first for me to be at the border. Kind of an eye opening experience. Thank you for your service, as I’m sure it was a risky job at times. Thanks for working to help protect this great country of ours!

      @@billschreiber I Joined the Border Patrol way back in 1995 and moved from my home state of Mississippi to San Diego, CA. I transferred up to Washington state after 9/11 and retired here a few years ago. The border back then was every bit as bad as it is right now, but not politically. We were actually allowed to enforce the law back then. And yes, the border needs to be under control. A nation without secure borders, is not a secure nation. Ask the Roman Empire how that worked out for them 😁 Thanks again Bill! I look forward to checking out all of your videos! Paint side up...Rubber side down my friend!

    What trips do you have planned for 2024?

      The only one I know for sure is a Canadian trip I plan to take next summer. There'll be other ones throughout the year, but none firmed up as of yet.

      My plan is to travel to Vancouver, then ride East to about midway, then back to the states. I'm just now plotting it out. I want to stay within a two week time frame for the entire trip. That's what I'm hoping for anyway. Rick, do you know of or recommend any "must see destinations" in the Western to middle part of Canada? Appreciate it!@@rickmacfarlane8802

      @@billschreiberI live on Vancouver island. When you leave Vancouver take hwy 3 to Princeton, Midway and on to Castlegar. Then head north through Nelson, Kaslo to Revelstoke. There are hot springs south of Kaslo and at Nakusp. From Revelstoke take hwy 1 to Banff and Calgary. East of Calgary is Cypress Hills national park. If time permits go north on 97 from Banff to the Columbia Icefields. That will give a pretty good taste of western Canada for sure. Done all these rides many times and it never gets old.

    Nice video. However, the background music was to loud compared to the narration. I keep having to adjust the volume.

    Great video and amazing trip. I also plan to ride across NM/AZ next time. On our last trip we also made the Moki Dugway, but left out the Valley of Gods. We should have done that, too!
    Our trip is here:

    Shame on you ALL ! As the son of a disabled vet & mother fighting cancer, was saddened to see your motorcycles sectioned off by caution tape over multiple handicap parking spaces at the hotel. You should be embarrassed.

    • @billschreiber
      @billschreiber  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @RobL325 ...Not sorry nor embarrassed. You know, there are sometimes extenuating circumstances that are not always apparent. In this case, the hotel made that decision and it was not up to us, nor did we ask them to do that. The hotel MADE us move from where we were originally parked, to that location, and the hotel put up the caution tape. I am sorry about your dad's disability and your mother's illness. Thanks to your father for his service to this great country, and I pray your mother beats the cancer....Prayers!

      Maybe next time instead of hurling shame and accusations...Just ask Bill about the parking situation. Circumstances are not always as they initially appear to be.

    Great video, another vicarious ride for me. I've traveled out West a few times from Kentucky, the farthest I've got is Yellowstone. The obstacle is the long trek from here to there, it's not possible to have the MC, and I beamed there Star Trek method. However, on the East coast the ritzy 'snowbirds' have the convenience of simply taking their MC, or car to an Amtrac auto train loading station, and Amtrac will load up your vehicle, or MC on a train car designed for vehicles, and transport you in a passenger car, followed by your vehicle in the same train for your destination in Florida. Most of the Amtrac routes operate at a lose financially, it's another 'government service' provided at tax payers expense, both you the passenger, and the tax payer is paying the fare. This auto service exists primarily because the 'snow birds' have the political clout to make it available. I wish so much the same service was provide on Western routs..

      @hauntedmoodylady. Thank you for the kind words and watching! Yes, it is a long journey for those of us living where we do. I agree, it would be nice to have such an Amtrac service you mention. I did not know anything about that and find it interesting. Agreed, should not be a taxpayer burden. Although if it was offered from TN, I'd be on it......lol. Hope you get a chance to travel some more. Regards, Bill.
