This song is acknowledging sadness, but is all about helping someone feeing sad to feel better and highlighting how time changes everything, even when things are the worst, there are better times coming. So it is both sad and happy. :-)
I remember watching Eurovision the night ABBA won. None of us dreamt that they would go on to become the megastars that they did! I get the impression that they didn't attain the same level of popularity in the US as they did across much of the rest of the world, especially in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Here in the UK, if you grew up in the 70s and early 80s, they would certainly have been the soundtrack to your childhood, whether you liked it or not!
Maybe you don't know that ABBA are the undisputed masters of bittersweet songs, with sad lyrics and happy music. It is said this is typical of the Nordic people's character, as they are Swedes. You can find this contrast in many of their hits.
Agnetha and Anni-Frid, Karen Carpenter, Olivia Newton-John, and so many others from that era all had something that there's very little of in today's music: TALENT. No auto-tune or other digital wizardry to make them sound good. Listen to the album, Voyage, that ABBA put out a few years ago. The ladies STILL sound like they're in their 30s with voices as clear and beautiful as they were 40+ years ago. I'm so glad I grew up in a time when all of this music was brand new and was on the radio. Every. Day. I just stumbled on to your channel. Keep up the great work and dig into ABBA's catalog. You will be amazed at what you find.

"Chiquitita" means 'little girl' (with affection) in spanish And the melody have a spanish tune, specialy by the acustic guitar But the center is the wonderful piano, like akmost all ABBA songs "Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with the blonde Agnetha's solo, then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus; Agnetha and Anni Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence (Agnetha is soprano, Anni Frid is mezzo soprano, and together blending together the 'Third Voice' of ABBA) "Chiquitita" was premiered for the Concert by UNICEF, invited (with a lot of artist) by Bee Gees ABBA premiered "Chiquitita" that night in January 9 (1979), and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF "Chiquitita" was ABBA's greatest success in Latin America, that prompted ABBA to record it in Spanish, and its success was so extraordinary that in the following years ABBA recorded an album with its best songs entirely in Spanish "Chiquitita" was specialy the greatest hit of ABBA in my country Argentina "Chiquitita" is in the Top 3 of all ABBA worldwide biggest hits, with 'Dancing Queen" and "Fernando", and it's a fantastic Masterpiece This promotional video was in February 1979 in Swizterland, when ABBA go there to a special TV "ABBA in Switzerland", for the 'International year of the Child' (That's why the snowman)
Chiquitita is Spanish and means "Little One" (small girl). With Agnetha -(Anna) singing the first verse alone, joined by Anni-Frid -(Frida) for the remainder of the song, the lyrics were now transformed into a message of comfort and encouragement, wherein the singers try to instill some hope of better days to come into a heartbroken friend.
The blend of the voices of these stunning ladies is always magical. One of the things that strikes me is that people always THINK that their music is simple and easy to play or sing, which is actually FAR from the truth. The reason is (I believe) because they made it look easy and their playing and singing always looked so effortless. The more carefully you listen to what’s going on in the background (with little trills and sub harmonies by both piano and guitar, or in backing vocals) you will find things that you never noticed before. I’m 67 and was a fan from the very beginning and just now, listening to this song, I noticed a subtle, barely noticeable, piano work that was just magical to hear.
The music some millions of us grew up with. Our childhood's soundtrack. Our beloved friends. Our ABBA. Btw their Spanish version to this ,was a gigantic hit in Latin American countries and still is considered some kind of hymn there, and its familiarity is passing from Gen to Gen since 1979.
Agnetha's and Frida's vocal unison is out of this world.Imo The best singing female blending my ears have everv heard (with only Cass and Michelle from The Mamas and Papas following)
@@DanCanReact Specialists have said that they creat the '3rd voice" phenomenon.Frida is a mezzo Agnetha a soprano both with a 'metalic' flavour. When these 2 voices come in unison they click so fine that sometimes you can't clear out who is who yet the result is unique and an exceptional trademark of the Abba sound.
@@DanCanReact Abba went to a hiatus of nearly 4 decades after 1982.In 2021 they released new studio 'trendblind' material (album "VOYAGE") that rocketed to no1 in 18 countries.Despite their age the ladies voices were alive and kicking.A perfect sample of this familiar vocal sound was gloriously obvious in the song "Don't Shut me down".We couldn't believe our ears.We experienced a grateful feeling of euphoria, nostalgia and it was some kind of an emotional quake especialy for us older fans.
Gee yes!Oh we had missed that sound so much we were sure we'll never hear this again.Even Benny and Bjorn weren't sure that the ladies voices were fit when they all 4 met (icognito) in the studio to try 2 new songs in 2017....up to the moment the ladies opened their mouths and started harmonizing. And then the guys got relieved and they all felt again their past magical musicianship, warmth and creative fun.And the music was consciously retro organic, non-generic,with non-autotuned vocals that were still unique..
For me Karen Carpenter,Olivia and the ABBA girls are the most beautiful (non-autotuned) gifts to recorded music regarding specifically the pure pop genred music field.
@@Lisa-M That's right!(thanx Lisa).Who was also very close friend of Karen and a friend of ABBA and especially of Frida. Many times many of us call them just by their first names , Olivia or Liv or Livy and just Karen cause they are so familiar to us and so unique that we know who we mean.
@@DanCanReact Olivia was the mos popular pop female soloist of the '70s and early '80s right before Madonna and long before Taylor.i.e.You might have heard of the legendary 1978 music film 'Grease" or even of the most succesful '80s USA Billboard single that was her revolutionary song/video "Physical"(even holding the record for 10 consecutive weeks at no1).

The happiest sad song ever. Its about deep trouble in really shitty times... but the hope for better days. @@DanCanReact Benny was a self taught musician and accordion player since he was a little kid that he got an accordion as a present. Then he developed his skills becoming a genius, creatively curious keyboard player.I read some anecdote in the net kinda saying that such was his urge to try new instruments that he 'once attacked" a huge tiramisu tart cake until he realised he misunderstood ...cause this wasn't YAMAHA's new keyboard model.
Yeah! I would've loved to grow up with music like that, but thankfully, the early 2000s music was ICONIC, so I'm not too mad! It's not the same anymore, most pop music is garbage.
I remember spotting on some videos im utube during the Covid 19 Lockdown showing people singing thE Spanish version from their balconies echoing this song trying to give courage and hope to each other. Can't remember which country was the footage from but it was really emotional.I felt a lump in my throat from the impact.
That's actually a really nice way to use this song, I would be uplifted too! I love the Spanish version, maybe even better than this one. Listened to it recently!
I think the lyrics are about someone who encourages a sad person in a sad situation. They say you will sing a new song and get over this current situation. It won't last forever. The last piano part is some folk dance music. It says to me: "Now get up and dance again. Don't stay in this mood forever. You are not alone." For me personally it's a very encouraging song. It's good for me when want to drown myself in self-pity. Then I look up and I see that the sun is still shining. Life goes on, wounds will heal and it will be better again.

I remember when this first came out -- yes, I am very old! -- and it was for a fundraiser for UNICEF. ABBA donated the royalties for this song to UNICEF (Rod Stewart donated future royalties for "Maggie Mae" at the same time). So I hope that all these viewings of and playing of this song will benefit UNICEF.
Chica means girl, so if I remember my Spanish lessons, I believe Chiquitita means a very little girl. But I think it can also be a term of endearment, like if you're especially fond of someone, you might add "ita" to the end of her name as a nickname. Kind of like how we sometimes add a "y" or "ie" to the end of little kids' names in the US. If I remember correctly, this isn't about cancer. I think at least 2 of the members of the group were married, and the stress was getting to them, and I think there were some arguments, and their little girl picked up on the tension and they wrote this song for her. Then again, maybe this is the Mandela Effect at work and maybe I'm imagining a backstory that never happened.
Overall, the sound of the songs portrays it as something happy, but the lyrics are a different story... I really like that contrast. But yeah, it does have this hopeful message to it.
That means, no matter how hard the reality is, how bad you feel...if you have a great friend to turn to, that friend can remind you how everything can shift very soon. A new day can make a new start and the sun will shine for you again, you will smile and dance.
In Nov,'21 Frida was asked in that longawaited BBC radio interview by Zoe Ball 'how do you want people to remember you?"" She kinda said,"i wanna be remembered as a member of a band who gave people happyness who gave them comfort, that we were here for them".And yes! I was expecting this specific answer and i got so much connected to her words,i couldn't help my eyes getting teary.
Nice reaction! They are trying to cheer up their sad female friend. So the verses are sad when they are acknowledging her pain, sorrow and heartbreak. But during the chorus, they tell her that the sun is filling the sky and shining above and she soon will be dancing once again and the pain will end and she'll be singing once more like she did before. "Chiquitita" or "little girl" doesn't necessarily mean a young girl or tween. It can also be an affectionate nickname for a young woman or teen from a friend or parent, etc. ... "Chiquitita" and "Dancing Queen" and "Fernando" are my favorite ABBA songs.
I did grow up during there era, Born in ‘71, and far out the best music during the 70’s and 80’s. And now in 2024, op the music comes back in mixes and covers.
Btw hey Dan, it's stated you are located in Canada.... just to let you know....ABBA also toured there once and that was in Sept. of 1979.It was the place they kicked off their 2nd world tour and it was a sold out and were very much welcomed by Canadians.Canada and Canadian music press was a kinda more friendly ground to them compared to the US.First gig was in Edmonton.
... favorite ABBA song is like asking who is your favorite kid or pet ... depends on the day - but Name of the Game, Chiquitita, Fernando and S.O.S. are up there
The contrast between happiness and sadness you hear in this song is very common in Swedish music. Songs that sound happy but with sad lyrics. I don't know if it is a typically Swedish thing but it sure is common!
Apparently that contrast is really common in Nordic music (since they are Swedish, that makes sense)! It makes me want to explore more Nordic artists, I think the contrast is such an interesting pair.
I Welcome ABBA to your channel.Thank you. US music listeners didn't really took them to their hearts back then, same way we Europeans and most of the rest of the world did.But South(Latin) America and Canada(that i saw you noted you are based) was positively different.Btw this song was no1 in Mexico for 32 weeks.! (Spanish version) was so huge it made the band record a whole album in Spanish that was also succesful in Latin American markets.
It’s the US loss that we didn’t know the magic of ABBA in the 70’s, there was just so much music from so many great groups; the decade of unbelievable music, but indeed we should have celebrated ABBA more.
@@carolynsanders3185 I agree and felt deeply sad about this back then. But later on i realised that there was a different culture and music preferences in the States. Plus lots of continental artists plus the hostile US rock press and ABBA's denial to do the demanded promotion with mammoth tours there , that fumed the band's way to make audiences take them to their heart the way we did here in Europe and almost everywhere else in the musicglobe.

another comment ABBA was really a very talented and versatile swedish group that recording between 1972/1982 (and now comeback in 2021) and leads in 70s decade: two excellent musicians songwriters (guitarist Björn & pianist Benny) two top female singers (blonde Agnetha & brunette Frida) (before ABBA they each had her solo career in Sweden) remember that ABBA is an acronim with initials of your first names, and was two couples from 1969: Agnetha & Björn; Benny & A.Frida Agnetha & Björn split at end 1978 Benny & Frida split at begin of 1981 For a new reaction I suggest: Fernando (1976) or Super Trouper (1980) with the brunette Frida as lead singer, so You can listen the other voices of ABBA Thank you again for these video See you in the next ; GOD bless you My best regards from Buenos Aires , Argentina
It is their latin sound, so spanish flamenco-esque. I love their latin inspired music, along with Fernando 2 of my ABBA faves. But gor dheer harminy and elements of classicsl music, listen to the stunning Super Trouper. BTW way, "ita" at the end of a name is spanish for little or little one.. so just means it us just a cute name for a person, "little Chiquitita."
ABBA was a phenomenal talent from way back in my high school years. There are a lot of other songs you will absolutely love! Another song I’m sure will make you melt is the song “ Too Much Heaven” by The Bee Gees. Please review that song. I’m sure you will be surprised.
Many ABBA songs are quite upbeat and happy in tune, but the lyrics can be somewhat darker/sadder. Many don´t notice that. Check out "Knowing me, knowing you" as an example. Or "The winner takes it all". Kind of upbeat, but it is about breakups, partners going separate ways. The lyrics are very sad, but still they go on.
Is a great song of ABBA , but not underrated it was third single of their sixth album title exactly "Voulez Vous" also included in their most succesful album "Gold" also included in the setlist of Voyage Concerts
'VV" is a fantastic disco-funk anthem with tight unbelievably complicated vocals, great riffs. There's too much going on in it.Who can write and produce songs like that nowadays. Now it's pretty much generic and computer composed.Back then it was Benny and Bjorn in a piano/guitar and 2 people with human creativity and unique talent.
Was listening to this song years ago when I lived in a small Southern town experiencing a spate of murders. On the radio, they broke in to pronounce, " We've got him.1" I still feel the relief I felt years ago.
It's really interesting how listening to certain songs can bring us back into the past. That must have been scary to live in a small town with a serial murderer...
My absolute favourite. Defines friendship between women particularly so it's always a hit at Mamma Mia and Voyage with the crowd. Another dimension is it also is a song for Agnetha and Björns daughter after their divorce. Hence it has made millions for UNICEF even today when donated in 1979
If you don't know, ABBA stands for the band members names, Agneta, Björn, Benny, And Annefrid (though usually called Frida). They all had solo careers after the split up, and now they have made somewhat of a comeback
Check out this song Live Wembley 1979, absolutely stunning and the version in Spanish is great too. Check out more: ABBA Live Tokyio 19778 "If it wasn't for the Night" "The Name of the Game" and more. Also great "Kisses Of Fire, Lovers Live A Little Longer (Live Switzerland '79)"
I heard the Spanish version today, it's so amazing! I'm mind blown that they sung all those lyrics so gracefully in another language. Truly a talented group, I can see why they were #1 for 35 weeks straight in Mexico.
'Kisses of Fire/Lovers" is a fab inseparable dual set from this tv show and the only time both songs were filmed and very popular amongst Abba fans.Btw Agnetha's facial shots in the first 40 secs of the intro are ahhhh!.......ok...l'm .just i'm running out of words.

Yeah! The contrast was a really interesting touch to the song. Very enjoyable while hard hitting as well 😁
The same is being said about the Swedish tenor Jussi Bjørling. Beautiful with a touch of sadness.
More Abba reactions coming! Feel free to subscribe if that interests you 😁
Great post!
Fifty percent of the proceeds from the song go to UNICEF in recognition of the "International Year of the Child" in 1979. In 2014, all ABBA members agreed on increasing their donation to 100% of all royalties from the song to UNICEF. As of 2021, the song's royalties had raised $4.8 million for the charity.
That's amazing!! They made a great choice increasing it to 100 percent of all royalties 😇
"Chiquitita" means 'little girl' (with affection) in spanish And the melody have a spanish tune, specialy by the acustic guitar But the center is the wonderful piano, like akmost all ABBA songs
"Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with the blonde Agnetha's solo, then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus; Agnetha and Anni Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence (Agnetha is soprano, Anni Frid is mezzo soprano, and together blending together the 'Third Voice' of ABBA)
"Chiquitita" was premiered for the Concert by UNICEF, invited (with a lot of artist) by Bee Gees
ABBA premiered "Chiquitita" that night in January 9 (1979), and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF
"Chiquitita" was ABBA's greatest success in Latin America, that prompted ABBA to record it in Spanish, and its success was so extraordinary that in the following years ABBA recorded an album with its best songs entirely in Spanish
"Chiquitita" was specialy the greatest hit of ABBA in my country Argentina
"Chiquitita" is in the Top 3 of all ABBA worldwide biggest hits, with 'Dancing Queen" and "Fernando", and it's a fantastic Masterpiece
This promotional video was in February 1979 in Swizterland, when ABBA go there to a special TV "ABBA in Switzerland", for the 'International year of the Child' (That's why the snowman)
God bless you as well and thanks for all the interesting facts and recommendations! Appreciate it Eduardo!
Great summary
my mothers husband loves this band. my mother was playing this song when he passed away a couple of years ago.
I'm sorry to hear that. May he rest in peace.
@@DanCanReact
thank you
My absolute favourite ABBA song!
For real, a great song!
Yeah, this is a really nice, hopeful song!
Yeah, this is one of those songs that has more gems to find by listening to it more than once!!
Best Band Ever
Rated #3 Greatest Bands All Time and that’s Fantastic.
That's actually so cool!! Never would have thought Abba was so popular in Latin America.
@@DanCanReact They also recorded Fernando in both English and Spanish.
Agnetha's and Frida's vocal unison is out of this world.Imo The best singing female blending my ears have everv heard (with only Cass and Michelle from The Mamas and Papas following)
Their vocals synergize so well it's actually insane! You instantly know it's Abba when they layer their vocals together like that.
My top four as well never to be matched
And which Olivia are you referring to? Should I check her out?
@@DanCanReact Olivia Newton-John
Timeless ABBA!.
You can't go wrong with any ABBA song. 🎼🎵🎶
True that, true that! 🎵🎶
Abba have a unique ability to make a sad, melancholic song sound uplifting. There will never be a pop group that comes anywhere near to matching their talent, professionalism, production and those heavenly voices and harmonies.
Simply put, they are Pop Royalty 💙💛💛💙
You're not wrong!! Their music has always been a treat to listen to, glad to explore MORE of their music!
so much to unpick here, vocals, bass... and Benny's magical piano.... his piano skills are amazing i particulary like I Wonder again for beautiful piano ...story telling vocals

@@DanCanReact Twas in mid of '21 (if i remember well) that this was first a Tik tok trent and then suddenly the views of the official video(which was already big) got boosted once again. Some youngsters felt this piece of music was real good so they approved and it got spread rapidly in newer Gen's culture,,,,seems they knew right.
"THE VISITORS" absolutely their best!
Unbelievably different.Dark yet still haunting!Great production.
I'll be sure to keep that in mind, thanks!!
Arrival was their best album
The happiest sad song ever.
Its about deep trouble in really shitty times... but the hope for better days.
You can cry and laugh at the same time... and if you are in such a time you could find eventually some energy for moving on. Especially the outro in my opinion is exactly meant to do this.

Love that message!!
the piano parts are and will be the most genius thing in the music world
That piano bridge will forever be legendary!!
You can never go wrong with ABBA! ❤
Of course ❤❤
IMHO, this is their very best song. By a wide margin.
It's a great one!!!
I was born in 1954. How lucky am i to grown up with amazing people/songs like this.
Yeah! I would've loved to grow up with music like that, but thankfully, the early 2000s music was ICONIC, so I'm not too mad! It's not the same anymore, most pop music is garbage.
They even made an spanish version of this song which was very popular in South America back in the day.
Yeah, I listened to it soon after reacting to this song, it's great!!
ABBA FOREVER
WOO!
The winner takes it all, undisputedly their best song. Agnetha have a very unique voice.

Wooo! ♥
I think it might have been Spain, perhaps Barcelona?
I think the lyrics are about someone who encourages a sad person in a sad situation. They say you will sing a new song and get over this current situation. It won't last forever. The last piano part is some folk dance music. It says to me: "Now get up and dance again. Don't stay in this mood forever. You are not alone."
For me personally it's a very encouraging song. It's good for me when want to drown myself in self-pity. Then I look up and I see that the sun is still shining. Life goes on, wounds will heal and it will be better again.
Love that interpretation, thanks for sharing!
ABBA is my favorite band. I love almost all of their songs. But I have two of my FAVORITES. These are "The Winner Takes It All" and "Eagle" 👋
I noticed the word almost... Which do you NOT like, I'm really curious.
@@DanCanReact «King Kong Song», «Watch Out», «Lovers (Live a Little Longer)», «The Visitors» , «Two for the Price of One» , «Bumblebee», «I Still Have Faith in You», «Ode to Freedom», «People Need Love» , «So Long»
I think all their songs are great! Yes, some a bit better, but really, there’s no bad song.
I'm a huge fan of Knowing Me Knowing You
I remember when this first came out -- yes, I am very old! -- and it was for a fundraiser for UNICEF. ABBA donated the royalties for this song to UNICEF (Rod Stewart donated future royalties for "Maggie Mae" at the same time). So I hope that all these viewings of and playing of this song will benefit UNICEF.
At the very least, it will bring slightly more attention to this fantastic song!
Everyone knows this band. There songs are pure,They are amazing. ABBA.
I even know them, just not most of their songs. Glad to be exploring them now!
Thanks for the detailed breakdown!!
Very close, Chiquitita translates to "Little one"
For me, the song starts with hopelessness then it becomes with an uplifting and hopeful message how things will change for the better.
Overall, the sound of the songs portrays it as something happy, but the lyrics are a different story... I really like that contrast. But yeah, it does have this hopeful message to it.
I remember watching their first appearance on the Eurovision Song contest in the early seventies. They sang Waterloo. The rest is history.
It's a song about hope and a better future.
Thanks for letting me know!
That's the way it's done for the most part. Sad lyrics + happy tune = balance.
Yeah, I love that contrast so much!!
That means, no matter how hard the reality is, how bad you feel...if you have a great friend to turn to, that friend can remind you how everything can shift very soon. A new day can make a new start and the sun will shine for you again, you will smile and dance.
Such a nice message 🥰
In Nov,'21 Frida was asked in that longawaited BBC radio interview by Zoe Ball 'how do you want people to remember you?""
She kinda said,"i wanna be remembered as a member of a band who gave people happyness who gave them comfort, that we were here for them".And yes!
Dancing Queen is such a classic! Good choice.
I did grow up during there era, Born in ‘71, and far out the best music during the 70’s and 80’s. And now in 2024, op the music comes back in mixes and covers.
Great speaking voice you have, ABBA is always a win, careful for the rabbit hole.
Appreciate that you noticed that! I do some voiceover work, so that's where I got it from :D
some of the best harmonies ever. good reaction. enjoyed that. cheers. (tomorrow will be better)
You're right, the harmonies in Abba songs are UNMATCHED!!
@scotmax...Ever!.🤩period.
Apparently they came to my province at one point too! That's awesome, would have loved to see them live, but I was barely even a thought back then 😂
... favorite ABBA song is like asking who is your favorite kid or pet ... depends on the day - but Name of the Game, Chiquitita, Fernando and S.O.S. are up there
That's fair, but those are some good choices, I've heard 3 of those already, just not the first one!
They are amazing!❤
I couldn't agree more Patty!
I'm actually shocked that a Swedish group made Spanish versions of their own songs. I thought someone else would be doing it. They are so talented!!
Plus lots of continental artists plus the hostile US rock press and ABBA's denial to do the demanded promotion with mammoth tours there , that fumed the band's way to make audiences take them to their heart the way we did here in Europe and almost everywhere else in the musicglobe.

another comment
ABBA was really a very talented and versatile swedish group that recording between 1972/1982
(and now comeback in 2021)
and leads in 70s decade:
two excellent musicians songwriters
(guitarist Björn & pianist Benny)
two top female singers
(blonde Agnetha & brunette Frida)
(before ABBA they each had her solo career in Sweden)
remember that ABBA is an acronim with initials of your first names, and was two couples from 1969:
Agnetha & Björn; Benny & A.Frida
Agnetha & Björn split at end 1978
Benny & Frida split at begin of 1981
For a new reaction I suggest:
Fernando (1976) or Super Trouper (1980)
with the brunette Frida as lead singer,
so You can listen the other voices of ABBA
Thank you again for these video
See you in the next ; GOD bless you
My best regards from

Appreciate the facts!!
Thanks for filling me in on that Chuck!! :D
ABBA was a phenomenal talent from way back in my high school years. There are a lot of other songs you will absolutely love! Another song I’m sure will make you melt is the song “ Too Much Heaven” by The Bee Gees. Please review that song. I’m sure you will be surprised.
I love this song, and I think it's ABBA's best song, the tune is amazing and I love a song with a great tune.
They were just as good live as on record, probably even better with an enthusiastic audience as always.
I agree! Both versions I watched were fantastic!!
You're right! And thanks for the recommendations.
Another great reaction, really enjoying the videos!
*Voulez Vous* is a great underrated song by ABBA also worth a listen
Is a great song of ABBA , but not underrated
it was third single of their sixth album
title exactly "Voulez Vous"
also included in their most succesful album "Gold"
also included in the setlist of Voyage Concerts

'VV" is a fantastic disco-funk anthem with tight unbelievably complicated vocals, great riffs. There's too much going on in it.Who can write and produce songs like that nowadays. Now it's pretty much generic and computer composed.Back then it was Benny and Bjorn in a piano/guitar and 2 people with human creativity and unique talent.
Great reaction, and a pretty impressive pronunciation of "Chiquitita"... you wouldn't believe how some people mangle it! 🤣
It helps to speak French, since the pronunciation can be similar at times!
Hence it has made millions for UNICEF even today when donated in 1979
Wow, didn't know that Agnetha and Björn were married, I wonder how it would be to perform with your ex husband...
If you don't know, ABBA stands for the band members names, Agneta, Björn, Benny, And Annefrid (though usually called Frida).
They all had solo careers after the split up, and now they have made somewhat of a comeback
I knew Abba before this, but I never realized it was an acronym for all their names. Very cool way to name your group.

@@DanCanReact That Japanese tv show featuring the 'If it wasn't. for the nights." song is iconic.Fire! That song was aimed to be the lead single of their '79 album 'Voules Vous" and was briefly promoted on a couple of tv shows but the plan changed last minute after they wrote 'Chiquitita" and got this out.Imo both songs could have made a fabulous dual 7 inch release managing a remarkable music contrast.A fantastic, iresistably catcy groovy track that would have been coupled with this glorious ballad.
May I suggest one of the come-back (after 40 years) singles, as they are now in their late 70's,
and still can bring that ABBA-vibe back to life in 'Don't Shut Me Down', an absolutely wonderful song,
