It was a halfway reality check. Maher didn't highlight the real issue, which is corruption in the democratic party that is beginning to burst out so noticeably that even the clueless are starting to see it.

Fuck man, people aren't stupid. The average person cares about their job, about social security, about healthcare and they care to some extent about identity politics. The issue isn't simply that dems are engaging in identity politics, it's that they're engaging in identity politics while not actually making policies that economically benefit the middle class. So when the republicans come along as say we'll lower your taxes while the dems are talking about bathrooms for trans people, the middle class goes fuck the dems. If Bill Maher can't call out dems for being corporate sellouts then in my mind he's just another establishment tool spreading a false narrative. Talking tough doesn't change the fact that an enormous wealth transfer from the middle class to the 1% has been happening under BOTH democratic and Republican administrations. And the one candidate who called this out was Bernie, and guess who Bill supported? ... Hillary.

They cannot be apart of and also separate from society, that's just not how it works; they either give what makes their culture unique to strengthen society or they self-segregate from society to maintain their culture.

I'm a black person, and I've heard many times white people telling me that I should feel offended over something that someone else said (I wasn't). But then once, I was actually offended by the use of "people of colour" and then those same people told me that I shouldn't be offended by that. Like ... seriously, two hundred years later and we still have white people tell black people what they should think/do/say. You shouldn't be allowed to insult or discriminate someone based on race, religion, sex, etc. if you're working at a professional institute or employed at a job as it is unprofessional and against most employment laws. Ruben Perez a while back I read a interview Maher did and while he is against Donald Trump he wishes his audience didn’t want to constantly hear about Trump because he feels there is more to talk about than Trump. It’s nice to see him breakaway from what his audience wants to give these little reminders on what hurts the democrats. During the election I wanted to do a series of politcal cartoons making fun of Trump and get people to vote democrat. But instead I found myself fighting off SJWS because my art style takes heavy influence from other cultures, which is "cultural appropriation" and somehow made me "racist" for being influenced by other cultures. So instead of being focus on fighting Trump and the Alt-Right, I found myself defending my own charater and right to artistic expression. When ever I defended myself from a far leftist, who I was supposed to be on the same team with, people would dismisse me for "whitesplaining". If I got Frustrated or even angery for being told I should just give up doing what I love because I'm a "f##ing white man" I would get accused of having "White fragility". Which somehow proved I was racist even more.
I still voted for Hillary in the election, but all of this greatly turned me off from my own party and it was even more enranging seeing liberal leaning sources such as Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, Salon, MTV, Everyday Feminism and worst of all, schools, push to normalize this behavior. It felt like a knife in the back and I could see why someone would vote for Trump just to give people who think like this the finger.

I'm pretty sure The Daily Show debunked that survey. It's 9 out of 10 people who self identify as first nations. So you could be 1/16th Cherokee or something and still could say, "I self identify and I don't feel offended".

The point of being offended by the term "red skin" is to understand the hurt and the history. So if you're full or half or even a quarter, you're going to understand it and feel more strongly about it than someone who's 1/16th. Note: this really only applies to American culture, but sadly your culture leaks into the rest of ours in the West.

A lot of this PC culture comes out of colleges with their "safe spaces." That's where the real change needs to happen.
