Something about watching someone get a gift and the look on their face, you can just see how stoked and authentically touched he is. Universal language! Nicely done guys!
Very cool! I've been thinking of getting back into woodworking for a long while now. The round coasters may just be the project I start with! I don't have my tools anymore so, I'll need to start from scratch. Thank You so much! Subscribed!
Loving this channel mate & fiddlesticks to the square version, I was tinkering in the workshop today trying to make candle holders and could of done with a helpful hand, your friend was talking French so I hope you understood him lol, keep up the great projects 👍👍👍
I was able to understand him, but barely because he's from the south of France where the accent is a little different. :-)) I put captions in English to explain what he was saying. I'm glad you're enjoying my channel!
As usual from you Mike another great build, even though they are small (being coasters) they make great gifts, as you have done here for your Friend. Keep up the Great Videos and Builds. Hope You and Your Family had a Great Christmas, and All the Best for 2017. Barry (ENG)
Although the square coasters looked to be challenging to put together, I find both sets simple but elegant sets. I love these, and thanks for sharing! I have subscribed, good quality vids with great commentary. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
The Wood Piddler Yes, I used Titebond III since they may get wet. I only made them yesterday, so I'm not sure how well they will hold up. The round ones should be ok, I think. For the square coasters, I used leftover wood that was thinner than I would have normally used, so they're not as thick as the round coasters and there's not a lot of edge surface for the glue. I'll add a comment in the future if they don't hold up well.
Again great work. Lower your blade at time line 0:44 to just a bit higher than the material. Glad to see you using a stop block on the table saw fence.
You're absolutely right about the blade height. I'm usually pretty good with that, but in this case it slipped my mind. I think I get a bit distracted by having to constantly worry about setting up the camera, so it's causing me to sometimes not do things the way I normally would.
Nicely done, good vid! I have a question. When you face jointed the walnut, you sure seemed to be able to feed the board much faster than I can over my jointer (not sure if the vid was sped up) so I'm wondering if I need a smaller pulley on mine to get more rpm. Is there a recommended rpm for jointers? or is it all relative to what you're feeding? Also, what table saw blade are you using? The name was rubbed off but with red I'm guessing Freud or Diablo, but what kind specifically? glue line rip?
+Phantom Fish Good observation. I had sped up the video 1.5x when running through the jointer (just to keep the video shorter), so you're right that it was feeding pretty fast. I'm not sure of my jointer's RPM, but I believe it's running at 4200 RPM. The table saw blade that I'm using is a Freud Industrial 80 tooth thin-kerf blade. I think it's this one: amzn.to/2ixM8LZ
I've seen a variety of drill press tables over the years, on TH-cam and in tool catalogs, but this is pretty much something I came up with to meet my needs. I'm sure to have borrowed some of the ideas from others, though.

nice jig on the bandsaw for the circle coasters

Wood U Make It
How different is French from France from French Canada? (Since you’ve said you’re Canadian, I assume you’re more used to the latter.)

Thanks, Barry! Happy New Year to you and your family. More videos to come. The next one will be finer woodworking for sure.

Thanks for the nice comment and for subscribing. This will be my last video of the year, but more to come!
I have watched a few of your vids now, lol. The landscaping lights, is an awesome design! Happy New Year
Thanks! Those lights look really nice at night. Not everybody's taste, of course, but I really like them. Happy New Year! -- Mike
Cool idea do they wear well and are you using tight bond three

Would it have been easier to make the square one the same way as you did the round one and use the square cutting drill bit?
I wood make the round ones. I have an idea for a less piece oriented square set. May try that some day.

Could you use a mortise drill bit with chisel to create square coasters cut outs instead of gluing? Would it cause tear out? Just curious
Very nice 👍
I am partial to the round ones...enjoy your videos. Any cheese boards left for sale ?
Good job
Excellent Work
Great build. How strong are the glued up ones I wonder
Very nice 👍🏾
awesome sets

I notice you have the Christian sign (fish) on your thumbnail. Is that intentional or because you fish. (Yes I've noted your handle)
Good Job. Thanks for sharing. ;-)
Just found out your channel! You earn way more subscribers!
Thank you, Jolien!
Yes I would make both the cutting board and the coasters.with your permission that is
Brilliant
your drill press table is it your design or did you find in a magizine

i like the round insert
I Make Coasters Out Of Palet
Wood. Somtimes I'll Come Across
Som Scrap Flooring & I Make
Coasters Out Of That Too.
If I made it, I would have to change the shape of the column for the round set, and that's all I'm going to say about that!
Haha! I know what you're saying.
Oh thank God someone else said it! 😂🤣
Quick easy access to many projects with Woodglut plans.
