This week we sit down with Les Barsz to discuss his early years and heading south to start his career in racing. We hope you enjoy! - - Make sure to like and subscribe!!
Oh man, Les has a bunch of great stories. Looks like there should be four or five more episodes with him! Great stuff, looking forward to part 2, part 3, part 4.
Richard Brickhouse from Rocky Point, N.C. bought the 67 Plymouth from the Petty's. He finished 4th in the 1968 Carolina 500 at Rockingham in his first outing with the car. Actually the car was bought by Dub Clewis. Dub owned Brunswick Motors in Southport, N.C. Richard didn't like the new 67 Plymouth compared to the 66 Plymouth, so he sold it. Changed some small cosmetic things on the 66 Plymouth and made it a 67 model. The rest is history.
Oh, I can't believe this video was cut just as he was going to get into more info about the Superbirds. And before he could talk about the story of the well and Richard. This guy needs several more trips to the Chiefs Pit.
I'd like to hear one time about how they used to set up the car with the torsion bars and the leaf springs did they have lots of different rates to try to adjust the car what did they do back then on the Dodgers in Plymouth
I know a piece of trivia about Petty Enterprises that none of these 3 brothers know. In 1967 Richard started the seaon with a brand new Plymouth Belvedere but the car was not as good as the 1966 Plymouth. So after 4 races, Richard said, park it. The 1966 Plymouth was updated to look like a 1967 Plymouth and raced the rest of the year winning 27 races (10 in a row). The 1967 Plymouth was sold. I personally know who bought it. Ask Richard or Dale if they remember who bought it. If nobody remembers, I will post the answer.
Another great one. Enjoyed the recollection of Holman-Moody. Ford innovators. I have an obscure pic of Ralph Moody shaking down the mythical turbine powered '56 Ford T-Bird. They were involved in all sorts of experimental stuff.
@7:29 you guys mention "Uncle Julie" again, i have to ask PLEASE can somebody tell me WHICH of the four gentlemen in that pic is "Uncle Julie" Petty ? I can make out "Lee Boy" and the mafia looking guy with the "porkpie" hat & shades looks kinda like Bill France Jr ??
We gotta get more of this interview!!
Got us a cliff hanger.lol

Bring him back 2 or 3 more times, and bring Ritchie back too. This is great. Better than modern day nascar. Thank, you
Y’all should take that pink microphone into the shop and spray it Petty blue!
