So exciting. I adore all the older students, having been one, and will miss them. But brilliant match all around. I've never watched this show in anything close to real time, and I'm so looking forward to the next one! Thank you very much, & love from California.
Open was a very good team! On any other day they would have qualified easily. Enjoyed this match a lot. The series gets better and better. Best from Pakistan!
Nail biting!! Thank you sooooooo much for the upload and comments. It looked as Open going for the win, but those Edinburghers were very solid. Greetings for Santiago de Chile!
Edinburgh should raise Banks aloft and carry her around the studio for the immense part she played in their victory. Unfortunate for Crawford, he had a spectacular performance.
Joseph Karl You are not being rude, and no I meant Banks specifically. She repeatedly doubted Crawford's answers and she messed up one of his answers (which would have been the victory for Open university). Pay close attention to those chemistry questions to see exactly what I am talking about.
Eclectic Shokunin It's been a long day, and my brain is not quite switched on fully, so without sounding stupid, were you being sarcastic to some degree? As I say, I'm not fully switched on to that kind of thing right now, and I'd just like to get my head straight, is all...
No worries, we all have those moments. My initial comment was just an attempt at a funny remark because Banks practically handed the victory over to Edinburgh. Don't get me wrong, the quality of this episode was through the roof, two excellent squads and a closely contested match from start to finish.
Eclectic Shokunin In which case, I fully agree with that statement. I think Banks could have trusted her team a little more perhaps, but then, who are we to say such things? As you said, a cracking match. Many, many thanks for not immediately bursting into flames at my comments, as seems to be the norm on TH-cam. Just every once in a while, it's nice to have a reasonable discussion.... :-)
Sometimes I wonder how the hell do they know certain answers. For a lot of things I haven't even heard about and they know (I don't count topics connected with GB since I'm not British). It was a great match this time
IMHO, quite a number of contestants don't know what to do when they've got an answer right, because even though they're pleased as Punch, they don't want to look conceited, so they sip some water. In them bad ole days, they'd have drawn on a cigarette.
Having been to many a quiz night where I have misheard someone's answer in the heat of the moment, I feel for Banks with the Rurik answer. One of those matches where both teams deserved to win.
I'm not 100% sure of the rules, but I got my grandchild to feed/wash the last answer from 'Open' through a special machine at his school and she had started to answer before the 'gong' went. Is it a case of you have to have the entire answer out for it to count.
Interesting how there's always some comment putting down the polite, courteous and knowledgeable Mr Paxman. Usually, he's considered a fool but if not that then a Mr Knowall.
Open certainly knew their chemistry. Fantastic team.

Wow, what a game. And for a lot of it, Smith vs Crawford - two hugely impressive players. Fun! Thanks for upload, from NYC.
wildest audience i've seen in a long time
what a brilliant match! both teams extremely good and so likeable on top of it! and what a finish.
What a match! Crawford's a genius!
absolutely fantastic !!!

best UC audience in a long while haha

Eclectic Shokunin Don't mean to be rude, but shouldn't you mean Boyle?

nail biting finish. Thoroughly enjoyed. Cheers from New Delhi.
Seconded on all three counts--nail biting finish, thoroughly enjoyed, and cheers from New Delhi.
CLASS!
Love you Edinburgh.

It was a great match this time
I love Blank's voice! Could listen to her all day
That's just about made up for some of the stinkers earlier on this season. What a ripper!
I'm really quite surprised that I recognized Yeats' epitaph. It was a pleasant surprise.
27:34 "MEOOOWWWW!!!"
if only open had replaced Adamson and got someone useful, she had 0 clues regarding all topics including music which she is majoring in all episodes.
Oh yay - I get to see Joe Boyle again!
Joe Boyle just makes the world a happier place
@@davidconnell1959 So does Mr Dale.
Both very competent teams. Though Open seemed quite dependent on Crawford, it was a shame they had to leave.
Open, not SOAS.
+Edited, thanks ^^
I think Edinburgh could make it to the final. Great match.
Boyle at 27:54 is exactly how I feel about tie breakers when I'm doing quizzes. They suck so much ass.
Whenever Smith gets a starter question, he sips some water. I think it must be habitual.

Rewatching this. Really, they didn't get Yeats? "Horseman pass by"?
It was AT the gong, not after the gong 😡
1. I don‘t understand the question
2. I lack the knowledge
3. I don‘t no proper the English word of the answer 😢
Crawford is Jim Carey. And Goddard's a flirt!
Boyle clearly love to keep that top of his shirt open
nice lol
He obviously believes in some equality between the sexes. If women can practically bare their breasts, men can also show a bit -- only a bit, mind.
Adamson played a blinder for Open. 🙄

She should have just nominated him
Then Mr Paxman was kind to her when she answered a century instead of a decade, which would make up for it.
13:18 over and over again.

"Tittle" does not rhyme with "tattle."
Except he said the consonants rhyme...
Old Paxperson can't resist showing off his knowledge from time to time.
Paxman in his 27th year as quizmaster has no reason to show off.
Interesting how there's always some comment putting down the polite, courteous and knowledgeable Mr Paxman. Usually, he's considered a fool but if not that then a Mr Knowall.
@@gordygibson8776 Not to mention his many other achievements.
