King Krunch was one of the 1st trucks with a rear facing rear engine. I remember when I was a kid they used to talk about it on 📺 but, I wasn’t really sure what they were talking about. Now I do.😀
Wow! That is an UPSET, if ever I've seen one! Whiskey Business made probably the best turn I've ever seen. Certainly avenges his previous-year-crash in almost that same spot. No doubt about it!
The reason is because Bigfoot (one word) lost it's rear drive shaft. Even though Bigfoot wasn't in the finials it made my day to see Digger get his ass handed to him by Whiskey Business. LOL!
Great upload. This must have been one of the last TNT races before the USHRA took over as new owners. I had no idea that TNT event had an event in 1991.
Approx which year did all trucks go from leaf springs to start using the 4-link suspension? i see the bigfoot in this video already had a 4 link suspension
There were a handful of events in the 1991 that had both USHRA and TNT banners. This was one of them. When they came into a venue and date that was previously a TNT event they would show both banners. This was probably in December 1990, and the buyout was in August.
@@brandonclark482 ITNT would run the first weekend in March at Nassau Coliseum. When I went to that weekend however there had zero TNT banners anywhere & just USHRA/Camel.
Bigfoot was always at the corner of 270 and Lindbergh. Grew up driving by it all the time and then watching these events. They used to practice run these near the airport and I could watch them from the place my old man worked. Those were the days. You can't even find an event with Bigfoot these days, much less this many Missouri race teams.
They're just not televised and not on Monster Jam. The US Hot Rod Association owns all of their trucks and Bob Chandler won't sell the rights to Bigfoot over to them. That's why they're not on Monster Jam. I don't blame him, he created the sport.
I was 7 years old at this show, my mom was upset Bigfoot broke because she is from Mizzou. Crazy how things just rando pop in your feed, haven't been to a monster truck show in over 20 years.
I don't know if it was a rumor or not but I remember in the beginning they used to say when gravedigger had his lights on it meant he was going balls out. After it started going around people would get upset if he didn't have his lights on thinking he was dogging it. So he started running them all the time. Not sure if that's the case or just what my father told me. Haha.
I thought that too... until the green light & he was just spinning two wheels. They must have convinced the officials they were good though so Fred (who was clearly the second best at this event) couldn't come back instead. Not a bad strategy with the battle they were in at the time... Crazy finish though, I figured for sure once Dennis upset Morris he had stolen the overall victory! But I guess that's why this one wasn't played as much in syndication, a rare Breen brothers win post-1987. Great upload!
The Bigfoot crew were only ably to have the truck in front wheel drive only, the wreckage it sustained from the previous run wiped out the rear drive line. That's why you see the front wheels spinning and the rear just moving along with the trucks forward motion. There was no surprise to see Whiskey Business win because no truck can win with only the front wheels turning or just having rear wheel drive. It takes all four wheels to be competitive no matter what truck it is.
Lol yes that is what I was inferring. Their (Bigfoot's) intent was to keep Fred out, so they ran when they knew they had broken equipment (to prevent Fred from winning). Separately, the Whiskey Business overall win was a surprise in any circumstance. Please direct me to any other event where THAT truck won the entire race, I would love to see it!
I meant winning the entire event, not over the FWD-only Bigfoot. That was a truck that I recall rarely even making it out of the first round of events.
Thanks man been lookin and asking about this show forever. That was some wild action. hey do you have the pontiac event where hercules sport almost rolled over
GD2 was repaired and still exists. GD2 competed at least a good way into the 90's as a second truck to GD3. Les Anderson, Lyle Hancock, and Robert Parker each drove it some, I know. Others too that I'm likely missing.
Gotcha, Scott Douglas from the Tuff Trax shows made it sound like the truck was totally totaled. Your right It still does exist, it's on display outside at the Diggers Dungeon now that I got to thinking about it.
I remember watching this ever Saturday morning with my father on regular TV now look at the garbage they got on now the trucks are giant fish are a Zombie Thing silly looking back then it was real trucks

It’s crazy how much better Scott Douglas was at calling the shows compared to Bret Kepner.
Unbelievable!

Search Kung-Fury on here
2:45 that’s pretty big air for that time!
Yeah, has some crazy suspension... strength-framing stuff on the front, looks in-house engineered
@@timberwolf27they put trailing arms on the front of the frame to try and get more travel and lateral movement out of the leaf springs
Thank you for posting this. This is pure nostalgia for me.
Really fun to watch these old school races, thank you for sharing them!

Amazing this event was early in the year...by the summer Penda series, Fred Schafer's new tube framed Bearfoot was a beast.
4wheel crazy was the fastest consistent truck on springs
12:15 The four wheel drive on big foot is not working
The reason is because Bigfoot (one word) lost it's rear drive shaft. Even though Bigfoot wasn't in the finials it made my day to see Digger get his ass handed to him by Whiskey Business. LOL!
Amazing how easy those big wheels just spin. Tons of power

Nice upload. Definitely haven't seen this before. Pretty cool to see a Breen Boys victory.
Wow! Thanks for sharing! I've never seen this one before!! I wanna see another BIGFOOT vs Gravedigger soon!!👣🆚☠️
Lupe had a truck as far back as 88 or 87. He shows up on the american sports cavalcade taped show from the astrodome. I believe is the 1987 show

I'm pretty sure the other part of the show, whether it be mud bogs or pulling, has already been uploaded as part of another race. More rare action!
I never knew Whiskey Business ever won any event! Happy holidays, by the way!

The Bigfoot team runs many events year round. Get your facts straight
They're just not televised and not on Monster Jam. The US Hot Rod Association owns all of their trucks and Bob Chandler won't sell the rights to Bigfoot over to them. That's why they're not on Monster Jam. I don't blame him, he created the sport.

Grave digger and 4 wheel crazy! Whatta race!
Lupe Soza 1991 WOW
Ken Deppe before he started piloting Dodge Express.
its crazy what these trucks have become they went from just running over cars to what we have today them doing back flips and jumping 30 ft in the air
Wasn’t Dennis driving the new digger 3 at this point?
Whisky Business beat both Foot and Digger!
I miss the bigfoot truck, good memories

They mention that Whiskey Business had a bad crash "last year" in Houston. Is there any footage of that?

Before monster trucks were like wrestling fake grave digger or max d winning all the time because Pace Motorsports owns the trucks
You mean FELD Motorsports?
Look at all those tiny people.
Wonder if the Grave Digger at this event is the same truck from the 1990 TNT series? Maybe it was repaired til Dennis could finish the GD #3 truck.
GD2 was repaired and still exists. GD2 competed at least a good way into the 90's as a second truck to GD3. Les Anderson, Lyle Hancock, and Robert Parker each drove it some, I know. Others too that I'm likely missing.

I remember attending shows where Les was driving a Grave Digger truck.
That’ ole boy Morris was a likable fellow. Only thing was he repped ford oh and Texas but good guy and could drive hi azz off.
