Most beautiful music. I love Giacomo Meyerbeer's operas and all his music as well. There is not a single note in his works that breaks the rules of harmony which renders all his compositions very amenable and pleasant to listen to. Which of all his works I like the most ? ALL. I LOVE ALL OF THEM. Each and every single one has its own personality, charm and treasure to make our hearts rejoice. Bravo, Maestro Meyerbeer, how much joy you bring to my soul. It's been a miracle meeting you. A humble servus miser who worships you.
Very well put! Agree 100%. Practicing is hard work so a little fun on the side is such a relief. Also check out the HMS Pinafore, a Gilbert and Sullivan classic!! I am smiling wide!
From Wikipedia: The first scene of act 3 of Le prophète contains a ballet, titled "Les Patineurs", in which the dancers mimic ice skaters. In this opera's premiere in 1849, the dancers wore a type of primitive inline roller skates, which had been invented in Europe in the previous century, to more convincingly look like they were ice skating (quad roller skates had not yet been invented). In 1937 Constant Lambert arranged the ballet music of this opera and excerpts from the ballet music of L'étoile du nord into the ballet Les Patineurs, choreographed by Sir Frederick Ashton, in which the dancers mimic ice skaters.
This music was arranged by Constant Lambert,anBritish composer whose father was a famous Australian painter, Costant Lambert's son was Kit Lambert -the manager of the highly influential rock band "The Who." -amazing how everything is connected to everything else!
Correct, but what is being played here seems to be just what Meyerbeer intended for "Le Prophete". It's not the ballet score to the Lambert-Ashton "Les Patineurs".
I'd heard before that Meyerbeer's music is more like lighter classics but there's quite some substance to it so lighter classics or no it is certainly not airy-fairy
+Erland Schneck-Holze Even though this rather "heavy" rendition definitely has it's very own charm, I followed your suggestion ... and ... loved it very much in comparison. Thank you! Regards from Canada.
One of the greatest ballet music ever composed!!
Meyerbeer was a genius
As a child, I remember play dancing to this with my sister. The music was on old 78rpm 12" records. Great fun!

genius, no other words....viva Meyerbeer
Meyerbeer was a genius indeed! :D
Great ballet music, great recording, great visuals. Thanks for posting. Meyerbeer is vastly underrated.
He is! :-)
The coda of the second movement (starting at 8:18) is just so riveting to me. Also, it reminds me a lot of some parts of the Nutcracker.

This is fun! After coming off of the Bach B-minor magnificent P & F, it is so wonderful to be entertained. Thank You Giacomo!
Preciosa melodía...!!!❣♥️❣
Wonderful picture to go with this wonderful music!
Delightful, exquisite--it inspired a great ballet, too. Thanks so much for posting. Very nice of you.

7:52 How masterfully and neatly done, that changeover from B flat major to E major
Wonderful music . I must explore all Meyerbeer's works .
That should be well worth it! :-)
Very great!
Ook dit raakt mijn hart !

Wahre Wörte
I love waiwing ballet musics
What I also heard about Meyerbeer is that he grew immensely rich from his operas and that made Wagner really jealous
I like Meyerbeer; too bad he is so underrated
I'd heard before that Meyerbeer's music is more like lighter classics but there's quite some substance to it so lighter classics or no it is certainly not airy-fairy
I like his idea of Italianizing his first name
Great and vety funny.
👏🏻
Great music, but it's so much more fun with the ballet to go with it. Especially dancing in it!
The painting is so beautiful as the music!!! What is the artist?
🎉

What's the name of this painting?
Paysage d'hiver. Avercamp Hendrick(1585-1634).Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
Merci pour la réponse !

Nunter-heitere Super-Komposition
Corny as they come, but great fun for dancing.
