Harbor freight 6$ welding gloves. The brown ones. Best work horse camp gloves. Use them while cutting wood, working with anything hot and have moved lit wood by hand with them. Also agree with you on the Floga. It’s a game changer, fire looks better burns better and lasts longer. I exclusively cook on my takibi, grilling is a great experience on it. I also have the fire ring table and I think it’s definitely a must with kids that are running around. It definitely eased the anxiety of literally always having to make sure that my kid isn’t going to burn himself by getting to close.
Nice! Just checked those gloves out, that’s a great deal! Yeah I’m ordering the Jikaro, I think it’l definitely put us more at ease with him running around.
Thanks for the review. Would be great to see your longterm review of the Floga with more big fires/secondary burn 🔥 in the sunlight and at night for full effect since there's very little good reviews on TH-cam. Thanks. Snowpeak should replace the chrome plated grill that rusted and is hard to clean 🔥 🏕️ ❄️ 🇨🇦. By the way, at the end on the night, I pickup and dump the Coals either in the fire ring or in a metal garbage can with lid b4 bed. Im not sure how you would take the Floga off while it's hot (welding gloves 🧤) so I could dump the Coals, haven't bought one yet? Cheers 🥂 👍
Definitely need to do an updated review on this! I use my fireside gloves to remove the Floga and set it straight down. I also dispose my coals the same way, it’s nice how the Takibi folds to allow easy disposal. I ended getting two of their half unit stainless grill plates and it’s so much nicer!
Keep the videos coming, studio looks great! Finally got all my Snow Peak gear but haven’t had a chance to use it. Two questions for you: 1: I got the Takibi tarp set M do you think the riser under the base plate plus the floga on the fire pit will make the fire/ heat too high for the tarp even with the fire resistant inner roof? 2: I oiled my folding cutting board but do you oil or do anything to the handles of you other Snow Peak gear? I.e. torch, fire side tool, stacking shelf etc. Also got the rumpl snow peak blanket and it amazing! Though a stuff sack would be better than the buckle system.
Thank you! It should be okay with the base plate plus floga under the tarp. I’ve only ever oiled the cutting board since it gets washed often at camp. I also just picked up a takibi blanket, haven’t tried it yet though.
Nice review. I like the idea/mechanism/look of Jikaro (not $$), but I have to admit that it will make me become a maximalist and make my IGT less useful. Trying to resist having one. For the grill, user manual says it should be washed with detergent, fully dried, and coated with oil to prevent rust.
For solo or two-person camping no jikaro is required, but for three or more, family, and group camping the positive reaction to the jikaro and the emotion the jikaro adds to gathering around for takibi-time is immeasurable, some of my guests think that the jikaro and the takibi is a single-unit and call it a "fireplace", of all things SP currently markets the jikaro is probably their most signature item mainly because it looks "excess" at first but as soon as you engage the product you immediately see how "necessary" it really is.

I was waiting on your comment for the Floga. This definitely helps me guide my next purchase!
Nice, glad it was helpful!

IMHO, it's a decent 40% of this fireplace. It helps in every way. I love it.
Very good review, best I have had watched around!
Thank you so much!
They improved the grill top with a stainless steel edition 😉
Nice! Yeah I've been just using two individual stainless grills, but glad to hear they upgraded the chrome plated grill top!
Thanks Ryan, love your videos. Just purchased this set, can’t wait to use it! ☺️
Thank you for your support!
Good idea to wear second hand wool & /or military wool surplus/blankets around the fire 🔥 instead of destroying your modern fabrics by the fire.
Absolutely!

Totally get it, I always try to keep my setup minimal as well. I’ll have to remember to coat mine while it’s in storage, thanks for sharing!

I may have missed it: what size fire pit do you have (S, M, L, XL)?
It’s the Large size.
I think a video on how you clean your gear would nice nice!
That’s a great idea, I’ll put something together!
How much does the Floga reduce the smoke?
After the wood starts burning, smoke is pretty minimal with the Floga attached. I always use it when doing fires under tarps especially.
Ultimate accessorry is prolly GR-050 😊
Definitely need one of these!
Your clock jumps around a lot
Darn IKEA clocks, knew I shoulda spent more than $2!
