VW Beetle conversion to electronic ignition part 3 - making a custom timing mark & setting timing

Part 3 in my series. In the previous video I installed the new distributor. In this video I show how to set the timing. Since the Pertronix Flame Thrower is a centrifugal (mechanical) advance distributor, similar to the Bosch 009, we set the timing at maximum advance (3000-3500 RPM) instead of at idle like the stock vacuum advance distributor. First I show you how to calculate the location of the custom timing mark, then how to make the new mark in the crankshaft pulley. Finally I show how to find maximum advance and how to set the timing.
