Remember playing second violin of this wonderful piece in the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra when I was a kid 45 years ago.... Finney Chapel. Girlfriend in the first row of the balcony beaming at me. As an arts and science student I knew I wouldn't be playing forever, and cherished every concert. Thanks LACO, so much for this reminder that life is beautiful.

Nobody gets to play forever, John! Thanks for sharing your memory, and reminding us that music can still take us places.

One of my favourite Stravinsky pieces; I love the way it messes with your baroque head. Pretty much every movement draws you in to its (almost) baroque world, then totally subverts the ear. A really well judged rendition from Jaime Martin and the LA Chamber Orchestra.

Why is it so wonderful when music you know well sounds as if it’s being played for the first time? Thanks so much.

Who knew when this was filmed in Nov 2019 that this would serve as a poignant reminder of How It Was, and How It Shall Be Again Someday? This piece has long been a favorite of mine, but these days seeing our musicians up close and sitting closely together is particularly moving. May I never take an in person concert for granted, for the rest of my days.

Also meaningfully, there was a major global crisis separating the premiere of this piece from the earlier works of Stravinsky. Perhaps there are meaningful cultural shifts ahead of us as we come out of this present one.

@@LosAngelesChamberOrchestra I have loved the music of Stravinsky since the age of about 15 years (I am now 70). He is definitely my favorite composer. Although I know nothing about music I do know that you play this piece with great precision and clarity. I will explore your other offerings on TH-cam.

A fabulously played & rendered Stravinsky!!! Congrats Jamie Martín and The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. This has always been one of my favourites! But you guys and gals, Bravo! I can't say enough about this performance, from the woodwinds to the brass, to the 1st violinist, to the cellos & basses, to the ensemble playing - so nice! Thank you, cheers. MK

Sonata per 2 violini e basso continuo. Yet no mention of that here. Hmmm, 😳🤔
