    I've watched this video about six times. I don't know about anyone else, but when I build a project, I need to have had what I refer to as a moment of clarity, when I see and understand the project as a whole. Then, and only then, can I break it down and build the pieces. This video is Perfect for that purpose. Many thanks. I'm going to buy the plans anyway, though I don't promise to follow them. 😁

    I’m really impressed you were able to fit this entire project into a 25 minute video! I bet this video doesn’t do any justice on how much work something like this actually takes.

    This is very helpful! I've viewed most of the other videos. Seeing it all in one placed helped me visualize the entire build. It made it come together. I've bought the plans and only three other projects before it's at the top of my list. Thank you.

    Thank you for making this. I'm not going to make this exact to plan, i need a separate lever for moving the thing up/down. I plan on making it parameter controlled sometime. But. This looks a lot better place to start than what i had in mind.
    Or maybe i'm just going to watch more videos now. Draw some plans while watching, and head to the store to buy parts after. Anyway you guided me back on track and saved me from wasting a lot of time on the previous plan i had.

    I am amazed at your "stick-to-it-tive-ness" for these complex task oriented builds... I put together my own router and table saw station, (that is relatively simple by comparison) and I was overwhelmed at the amount of tiny details that had to be observed over the course of the build. This is much more complex a build for the task it does, not to mention every part has critical alignment issues... BRAVO!

    Es una idea genial tú máquina, me gustó mucho y a mi papá igual. Se la mostré y se animó mucho ya que es complicado realizar las espigas y cajas para hacer ensambles y más si somos amateurs. Your machine is a great idea, I liked it a lot and my dad did the same. I showed it to him and he was very encouraged since it is difficult to make the spikes and boxes to make assemblies and more if we are amateurs.

    Matthias, while you are recuperating and finalising the move, perhaps you can spend some time learning some CAD package like the thing James Bruton uses and create videos on that? You have a really good 3D visualisation to be able to imagine and build the things you have and also a way of explaining things that works, at least with us your viewers. You could then show us what is in your head in moving 3D animations, create plans and continue with your video making. Just a thought.

    I didn't finish watching but wanted to comment at the template board installation. You might know this tip for gluing, but I'll share anyway. I noticed when you glued the pieces up they slid around. I know you align them better before clamping. I saw on another woodworking channel that you sprinkle a little salt on the joint and gives grip and doesn't allow the joint to sliding around. Hope that helps in the future. Great tool your building and instruction. Well let me finish watching.

    A countersink with a pointed tip (rather than flatted off) is really handy for spotting screw holes in metal drawer slides or even hinges. The tip cuts a perfectly centred divot in the base board.

    Hello Matthias, looking at the build I am curious about the rails used. To be clear: I'm not saying your method is wrong!
    So my question: Why did you decide to go with drawer rails instead of linear guides, for example the LM12UUOP type with supported rails. They are roughly the same price, can handle higher loads and do not need additional modifications to get them to work.

    • @matthiaswandel
      @matthiaswandel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Drawer glides are much cheaper than linear guides that would actually be suitable, locally available, easier to mount, and much thinner, so more suitable for the job. Yes, I had to spend 15 minutes modifying them, but it was worth it.

    Did you realize that as you plunge into the piece on the first cut after attaching the plunge handle, the router twists and moves backward in the mount brackets almost a full 1/4 inch? I wouldn't want that thing to pop out the back of the mount while it's chuck-deep into a plunge cut.... I assume tightness is paramount on those brackets
