for 1/87th, that's excellent indeed. in fact, it's better than some 1/50th scale models I've seen.

I'll definitely be looking into buying this for my layout. Finally an 1/87 crane with actually 4 extendable booms sections! Most other cranes only have the detail of 4 booms, but they only have 1 that actually extends out! Extra support trucks, counter balance weights and the heavy lifting capacity, all great features! It works look great erecting Wind Turbines on the layout or unloading them from a ship to train cars or truck trailers!
Kranlab also makes the 4 piece-6 piece boom extensions for those cranes that only have 1 section and other custom parts.

Ebay. Look under 1/87 mammoet or 1/87 liebherr
Actually the chains are from 1:50, but they looked good enough.

I'm genuinly flashed by the level of detail this modell offers. Really the only thing that is missing in my opinion is a bigger hook block.

The scale is the sane as HO railroad so that would look epic on a large train layout.

Beautiful model. Incredible detail. But today's 1:87 (HO) modelers are so accustomed to DCC that the the lack of lights and sound on a model this expensive leaves much to be desired. C+
This model isn’t aimed at the model railway market. It’s for the crane and heavy transport collectors market. I think it’s an awesome looking model for 1:87 scale.
@@heavyhaulage1 You're not wrong. But when something like this is offered in HO, if you want to sell 2 or 3000 more units, you'd be wise to take the model railroaders into consideration.
@@J3scribe Speaking as an HO scale model railroader just having a crane model this nice offered in 1/87 is a good thing. Hopefully we'll get some classic models offered as well at some point rather than just modern stuff.
As it is a static model I am not sure what the point of adding DCC sound would be. The significant extra cost of DCC would put off the diecast collectors who just want the model. I can't imagine Mammoet would have placed their order for 750 if it was a much more expensive DCC model, and if a railway modeller wanted a crane on the layout I don't think many would say no because it does not have DCC.
