    Wow! Another amazing crane! 😍😍 Some of the small detaills are really pleasing, like the “12,3t” on the SSL. But for that price it should have safety catches on the hooks and maybe lights with plastic lenses. As there is no money for all models I will wait for the LTM 1750 hahaha, it is a more complex model, with all the handrails behind the crane cab, folding ladders and the posibilitty of having single or double ballast (and 100€ cheaper hahaha).
    Thanks Ian, excelent work!!! 👏🏻👏🏻

    You could take the dog tag key chain and make an information sign out of it for when it's being displayed. Take the chain off, get some strip and flat balsa wood and clear cellophane and built a little frame with some support legs so it will stand up. When the crane is in the display cabinet the sign can be but beside it. That would be a neat touch when displaying the crane. Just an idea to think on. Very nice model and good review video as always. 👍🎅❄🎄☃️

    The video makes it look so easy, but it took me more than half a day to rig and assemble this one. One tip if the rope on the drums on the superlift gets between the frame an drum, the easy way to to get it right is to carefully pull out the shaft. My model was delivered with the rope all messed up on one side of the superlift, despite the tape precaution. This is a great model but you will need to drill and file some connections to get things together properly. I also had to deburr the tools because they were useless otherwise. One thing i would improve on next releases is the brake function of the superlift, it simply does not break enough.

      it's not that big. 50 inch is nothing in the 1/50 crane world. even the 1350 is significantly taller.
      i do also take fault at the 1750 for not having the 84+m boom option and being taller

  • @JrFlexing909

    I remember this crane was a thing when they talked about in Extreme Machine on TLC channel in year 1998-2000. You would only see big mobile cranes in over sea but not to much in America. I guess due to so much weight limits all over the US states its hard to travel huge cranes to places where they need to go. Over sea that see most of the mobile cranes don't have to much of weight limits to keep a huge crane off roads. Its cool to see the Demag AC 700-9 shown again. It been a long time.

    • @AlMcpherson79
      @AlMcpherson79 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's plenty of these in the US. Bigge, ALL, a few others - one recently got rigged in california to right a liebherr 1400-7.1 that crashed, because in california, they have to travel with boom dollies that most operators consider dangerous. In Germany, there are places with 9 tonne axle limits, but I don't think they allow boom dollies, so this would have its boom removed, and the Liebherr LTM 1750-9.2 does ahve a quick-connection system as an option to work with a boom launch trailer.
      All in all, there's actually not many 'big' cranes in general. A Relative of mine who ran a large UK crane firm owned one of these 700t demags, though it went bump due to too many consutrction firms that dont pay.

    • @JrFlexing909
      @JrFlexing909 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlMcpherson79 Yea, the US wants their roads to stay unharmed with all the heavy equipment being transported. That is why they ask to have the weight spread out.. If their is a away to just disconnect to the chassis than that is the best way to go.
      If the construction firms payed up I think we did see more of the Demags cranes. But So far the Liebherr cranes are the front runners I think.

      @@JrFlexing909 Problem is that below 12t axle weights means removing the main booms of the larger cranes, which adds a full day either side for rigging. for The real version of THIS crane, it says in the book itself - no boom, no riggers. for 12t axle loads, boom, but no riggers.13.7 for with riggers also.
      Think about it:
      everywhere else....
      Crane turns up, short-rigs, places spreader plates, full rigs, ballasts up, ready to go. Does the lifts. deballasts, short rigs, loads spreaders, derigs, drive off.
      the US
      team turns up. measures out width, length, and alignments. small crane turns up. places spreader plates. derigs, parks up. 700t demag crane at < 9t axles turns up. ten minutes spent getting proper position. other crane rigs up. Picks up Rigger fits to crane, picks up rigger, fits to crane. move to other side. picks up rigger, fits to crane and one more for the full set. derigs and parks up. demag 700t then places riggers into full rig position, and maneouvres if out of place. oops the spreaders are out of alignment, and site wants them perfectly positioned. small crane rigs, corrects position of two plates on one side (too far apart?) derigs, moves to other side, rerigs, corrects those two (also too far apart), supervisor/Apointed person is shouted at for not having the correct rigger dimensions. small crane derigs parks up... again.
      No lets say that a "quick fit" option isn't possible on the 700t (I don't know). so the boom itself has to be lifted by another crane.
      That then becomes... the small crane rigs up, positions spreader plates, derigs and parks up. medium sized crane comes into position, rigs up. ballasts up from wagon. truck with the main boom pulls in, medium crane lifts, the truck drives out, and medium crane moves boom into fit. teams then begin the connections. an hour later, deballasts and the medium crane derigs and parks up. (This is now THREE cranes on site, and still no lift for site). demag 700t lifts boom up, and wagons come in with ballast etc.
      NOW the crane is in rigged position, and we're only on Day 2? Day 3?
      the 700t in its UK configuration (Boom, all riggers, superlift) is like, a day to rig up because *i've worked with Sarens 700t* in Manchester doing a pedestrian footbridge lift at Altrincham train station years ago taking the old one down. Reading what I've just wrote, yeah I can see it being at least 2 days to rig...

    • @JrFlexing909
      @JrFlexing909 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlMcpherson79 God damn, I can see your point their. The rigging takes time and money to get everything set up. 2-4 days is way to much. If you have a couple of million dollars on hand then maybe. But time is money when getting a bridge, tower or stadium doom and etc put up and placed. I do have to say, living in the US, if you need a heavy equipment or item transported to a work site or a business...
      What will also halt the crane and transport is Over Size and Over Weight permits you have to put in place before you can move anything, as well you have to take special routes. But if you can keep the weight under 80,000 lbs or 36,2K Kg (for anyone that is not from the US) then you can travel the roads but any more then that you will pretty much be slowed down.
      Nice to talk to an experiences Crane Rigger, you know a bit more then I do.

      @@JrFlexing909 Operator as well. As a kid who used to go to work with my dad a lot, the smallest crane I'd operated was, a five axle demag. (so, 110 minimum, I think). Oddly, the largest I've operated on site as a certified operator was a 90t Tadano , so... weird.
      Example then: The Grove GMK 3055, a 3-axle 55t Crane with 43m of Main Boom travels at 12t axle load (36t GVW) with 7.6t Counterweight, 8.7/15m Bifold swingaway fly jib and 16t hookblock (10-sheave, max 3 parts of line)... here in the UK, I've driven it with its full 11.6t counterweight, and I don't know if the 12t axle lists for 'manual' or 'hydraulic' swingaway, but the extra parts for hydraulic offset adds weight too... AND I know from one manual book that some cranes list their weights as *dry* weights, that is, no engine oil, water, fuel, hydraulic oil. what I don't know(because others didn't say) is if theirs were *wet* weight, aka the above liquids necessary for use.
      As is, the Grove 3055 I drove, I had to get it weighed anyway (full tanks as well), and that 36t vehicle weighed up at 42t. so... 2 more tonnes came from somewhere (4t extra ballast...).
      42 / 3 = 14t Axle load limit, UK limits are 16.5t per axle.
      In the real world, this is a expensive or cheap hire for working range difference of up to 1t on full boom taken to either 36m radius (11.6t) or 32m (7.6t), a 2t load to 30m or 24m, a 4t to 20m or 18m, or say, a 10t load to 12m (26.m boom) or 11m. Having lifted an excavator arm in its frame at 24t, that would be radiuses of 6m on max 19.8t boom with 11.6t ballast, or 5m on 19.8m boom 7.6t (24t at 6m radius on a mere 16.4m boom NOT ENOUGH HEIGHT!!)
      That job took a mere hour, and barely managed with a Liebherr 35t (Dodge my riggers as I slew at 96pc capacity)...
      Transport of the 4t of ballast is easy I guess, there's surely rigid trucks that can payload a 4t of ballast that's merely 2530mm wide and 951mm deep (so, lay em on truck deck sideways),... maybe some light spreader mats so its a truck and crane for full rig duties...
      But anything bigger than 4 axles at 9t axles loads (9x4=36t) needs these movements then, and when you get to the sizes of say, a 200t with ballast slabs at 9t and cheekweights at 13t (Demag AC-200 which I've operated in yard to load said ballast onto wagons)... yeah no chance will the vehicle weight of a truck and trailer be small enough to stay within 36t when carrying 27t of payload.
      THIS is why I'm guessing that the US prefer rough and crawlers: the day-rates are probably smaller? but likelier longer duration hires so a hire is a near-guaranteed source of income, versus mobiles that very well could be stood for a few days, and are a hassle when they're not. the costs are smaller: Get it there and back once costs, and once on site its basically just personnel and maintenance costs or whatever. getting a rough terrain 100t low-loadered is probably easier than getting an equivalant mobile with at least one to site.

    Why are mobile cranes uncommon in America?

    • @minghonglim9255
      @minghonglim9255 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe because America roads and the USA roads have a lot of weight limits and height limit on a lot of the roads, overhead freeway, overhead expressway, overhead highway, tunnel, bridges and small toll booth that the Big Mobile Cranes like the Demag AC 700-9 All Terrain Mobile Crane and Liebherr LTM 11000 Mobile Crane can not get through or get on and have to used Small Mobile Cranes or Medium Mobile Cranes or using a Rotator Tow Truck instead.
