Solar Street Light | Very Cheap Solar Street Lamp | 50 watts (Install and Setup)

  • This is a review of the cheap solar street light that I got online. I needed a light source to light up the perimeter of our house at night for security purposes. Our house got burglarized and I didn't want it to happen again. I considered installing a wired lamp but I realized that it will take too much effort just to set up. So I found these online and thought that they were exactly what I needed. They are stand alone units that operate by themselves. Fully automated and powerful Solar Lights.
    00:00 - Intro
    00:11 - Unboxing
    00:54 - Testing the Street Lamp
    01:20 - Different Lighting Modes
    01:43 - Lamp Assembly

    03:21 - Testing the Street Lamp on the Wall
    03:38 - Auto Mode On
    03:50 - Street Lamp at Night
    03:57 - Outro
    This solar street light is good for securing your home. It has very good brightness and it's automatic mode is very useful.

    Will this LED light run continuously as long as the solar panel gets sunlight?
    Example: if the LED light battery is completely depleted will the light still turn on as long as the solar panel get sunlight to turn on the light or does the battery must be charged in order for the light to function?

    • @BuildRestoreRepair
      @BuildRestoreRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! Anyway, technically no. The sole purpose of the solar panel is to charge the battery. Then the battery powers the LED. :) there is direct conmection from the solar panel to the LED. hope this helps!!

    Hi! I hope you reply. I would need to extend the wiring between the solar panel and the LED floodlight. What kind of wire should I use? How will adding wiring affect the performance of the whole kit? Thank you.

    • @BuildRestoreRepair
      @BuildRestoreRepair  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for commenting. :) if you want to extend the wire, extend it using a wire with the same rating as the one provided. Adding an extension will have an effect on the system, specially with the speed and efficiency of charging because, the electricity from the solar panel now has to travel longer to get to the battery. But if you are not extending it that long, the effect should me very minimal to none.

      Try to charge the light first and check if the remote battery is ok. If it still doesnt work, maybe the unit is defective.

      @@BuildRestoreRepair it would be FANTASTIC if you just made a video of the area that this 50w lamp lights up. Whats the lowest temperature in your region? (In celcius)
      Do you think the lamp would work down to 0 or like 10 minus?

    • @BuildRestoreRepair
      @BuildRestoreRepair  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure! Will do a 1 year review of the lamp! If it will hold up to the test of time. Well, the lowest temp in our city is only around 20 deg C. And very sunny and tropical. Not really sure if it can work efficiently in zero or near zero temp. That kind of temperature will surely affect battery operation.

      and that the battery needs changing so often that the electric bills it saves work out any cheaper, and the batteries destroy the environment. Dont forget a mobile phone battery degrades over 3 years.. these cheap chinese ones degrade after 6 monnths.. cheap solar solutions are more expensive than just paying an electric bill. got solar, proved it

    I doubt that it is 50w. Assuming that the led runs on 50w at 12 hrs it would need 600Wh battery not including the depth of discharge . The enclosure seems not enough to fit the 600 wh battery. Assuming average sun hrs of 4.5 hrs. It would need 600wh/4.5 = 133w of solar panel power. The included panel looks like a 20w

      Hi Keith. I do understand your point. I do know the difference between cheap and inexpensive. But too many people use the word ‘cheap’ in their searches compared to the word ‘inexpensive’ - in Search engine optimization terms, that means that if I put inexpensive in my title, my video wont pop up in searches because too many people are using the word ‘cheap’. It’s more complicated than most people think.

    • @BuildRestoreRepair
      @BuildRestoreRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try and do a search for ‘inexpensive solar’ and you find that you will be given videos with ‘cheap solar’, ‘cheapest solar’, ‘ cheap vs expensive solar’ etc.. Its just the way of the internet world. Besides you are not the first to point that out to me. Haha. Cheerio!

  • @leeh1586
    @leeh1586 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Cheap is the word. Haven't most people learnt by now that you get what you pay for. So why waste you time and money with cheap junk that clearly won't last 5 minutes? Do you honestly think this is a street light? A REAL street light? A REAL solar street light? Look at the size of it! A teeny tiny solar panel, a teeny tiny battery inside, and a teeny tiny LED lamp. If you know anything about solar you would know that a solar panel in the northern hemisphere should face south and bet set at an incline of about 35-60 degrees in the USA. Otherwise it will not work very well at all. So ask yourself, how does this so called "solar street light" allow you to do that. You can't! What about when a component fails or the battery needs replacing? Easy? Good luck with that! This fixture will end up in a landfill. This is nothing other than cheap Chinese junk, wrongly defined as a "solar street light" and will never last long. The warranty will not be worth the paper it is written on. Speak with a REAL solar street light company and get advice from the professionals. They will explain to you the huge limitations that these all-in-one fixtures have. REAL solar street lights do not look like this. That's why you don't see these out on your street because your municipality would never buy something like this. They buy from REAL solar lighting companies that offer REAL professional, commercial grade systems, not made in China junk. If you want to waste you money then all I can say is a fool and their money are easily parted.
