    I'm in Thailand. These exact same lights are marketed under JD-Solar here. I have 3 of the 25 watt models. If you buy more lights, you can use the same remote. If they are too close together, it will affect others of the same. I suspect your remote batteries need to be replaced. I can easily control mine from 30' away. I haven't tried going any further.

      @@LandtoHouse , I'm quite impressed with them. I have only been using them for a few weeks so far. One downside is that I don't think you can replace the batteries. I think your lights will be good for 2-3 years. I'm not sure if they are using 18650 Lithium cells or LIFEPO4s. They go for about 24 USD here for the 25 Watt Model.

    Perhaps the pickup sensor for the remote is located on the bottom of the light. You had the light sitting on the ground when you tested it. Try laying the light down so it points up and do the distance test with the remote pointed at the bottom of unit :-)
    PS I just looked at the link on Amazon. The specs show remote range is 39 feet.

    This is the same light I bought on lazada here in the Philippines under a different China name but with same remote and light only difference I had to get my own expansion bolts to mount and it had a shorter connection cable and same issue with remote control. I have mine mounted about 12 feet off the ground but its only 3 feet away from the upper porch level which I figure you have to have it pointed toward the face of the light to work. It was around 40 dollars here which I find a big price difference on a lot of things but sometimes quality is less even if it comes from the same place.

    Quick I need a question answer ASAP about this product I thinking about using this in a greenhouse do you think it can stay on 24/7 if I have the remote to set it like that?

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This light will work for night time. As long as you get enough sun in the day. I dont think there is a setting to keep it on in the day.

    • @gilian2587
      @gilian2587 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      TLDR: No. The battery only allows for 10 hours of operation with the floodlight on under ideal conditions. Running it all day 24/7 would fail between Day 1 and Day 2.
      * - Remote Control (Mode 1: automatically lighting, light on as dusk and off as dawn ; Mode 2: Timing light for 3/5/8 hours or keep it on/ off anytime. Mode 3: Half light on the basis of mode 1 or 2 )
      Mode 2 will behave the way that you describe... but it would not run 24/7 -- you'll have to fit charge cycles in between operation cycles.
      -- Extended explanation:
      Assuming it has a full charge -- it will only run for 10 hours before it depletes the battery. If you keep it running for 24/7 from a full battery.. it will eventually run out of power. If you kept it running all day... then I think the math works out that if you turn it on for the first time on Night 1; it would run for 10 hours, then around sunrise... it might flicker between being on and being off; then as the sun gets higher in the sky -- you may have more energy generated by the panel than is consumed by the floodlight (assuming you don't have a cloudy day) but by the end of the day, the battery will not have charged nearly as much as it normally would if the floodlight were off; and the battery would run out of power pretty early on the second night.

    How long will the light last on

  • @jesser5127
    @jesser5127 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there an extension cord if the cord isn't long enough? If not, how about a mount that can either connect this exact panel to a gutter or extend it further out away from the house so that the gutter doesn't block it from angling upward? I have the IP67 with the exact JD-8800 panel. I needed it for the back of the house. Of course, the sun is rising East to West and my panel mounts onto the trim board below the gutter on the back of the house. So it is angling away from the sun, essentially. The cord isn't long enough to run it to the side of the house and I don't want to roof mount that little panel. Due to lightning storms, I'd rather not have a pole (such as if I got a pole to mount the JD-8800 panel on) with a cord running directly to the side of the house where the light is mounted.
    I thought that maybe something with a longer extension arm to go out and away from the house and gutter so that I can flip it around to get the sun would work. Any suggestions? Looks like I'll have to rig somehow.

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have spoken with a couple of manufacturers about this issue. Typically the response is extending the power cable will cause a reduction in volts. Which will cause longer charging times or prevent it from charging all together. The idea of extending the solar panel up over the gutter may be your only option.

The blinking red light did not stop blinking and so now I am assuming that the batteries keep on charging everyday because there is no charge controller. News to me, mine blinks from red to blue, once fully charged, the lights stay on permanently without blinking, which means its fully charged. Have been running mine now for at least 3 months, no issues, maybe you got a model that is wonky...leave it outside for a week, if it still goes on blinking take it to the place you bought it and ask for an exchange or refund. That is my opinion.

    • @gilian2587
      @gilian2587 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Caveat -- assuming that you have it charging for at least 8 hours in ideal conditions -- with the solar panel fully exposed to the sun and not sitting in any shade and not a single cloud in the sky. Some areas in the world have 83% of all days in the year as being cloudy -- if you live in one of these areas... PV in general will not work very well for you. But -- assuming that you have a full battery -- what the manufacturer said should be correct; 10-11 hours of operation at night!

      I have the 60 watt version of you flood.
      Two questions.
      1) How do we know that it is fully charged?
      2) What type of battery does it use?
      My remote works upto 5 meters .

    How many Wh is your battery? "10 hours working time from dusk to dawn when full charge" -- Ah, I see -- 1000 Wh battery. Erp... nope; not possible -- the operational power has to be less than 100 W. 36000 milli-amp hours is the answer to my question... I haven't wrapped my head around that unit, yet... standby....
    Deeper in the technical specs, I found that the voltage is showing as 7.2 Volts; this means that the Wh for this thing has to be around: 259 Wh -- which means that the actual operational power of this thing is around 26 W. It uses a Lithium Phosphate battery; which has a power density of between 2000 Wh/kg - 4500 Wh/kg.
    Solar panel dimensions: 35 cm x 58 cm = 0.203 m^2
    Average solar flux (at Earth): 1400 W/m^2
    Total power (at theoretical 100% efficiency): 1400 W/m^2 * 0.203 m^2 = 284.2 W
    Stated power of Solar Panel (in the specs): 35 W
    Calculated Efficiency of Panel: 35 W / 284.2 W= 12.3%
    It also says that this thing will fully charge in 8 hours under sunny conditions. This implies that the Energy stored in the battery is around 280 Wh -- which isn't too far from my 259 Wh result earlier.
    This means that, according to the specs, the operational power when the floodlight is on literally has to be around 280 Wh / 10 h = 28 W
    But... I'm going to assume that the specs may be overly optimistic and suggest that... 259 Wh / 10 h = 25.9 W (may be the actual operational power)
    If an electrical engineer wants to point out any flawed assumptions in this math; I will accept your reasoning with humility.
    The material for the solar panel shows: ABS/Aluminum
    I am seeing that ABS is a thermoplastic polymer. Is this thing an Organic Solar Cell?
    This gets into Semiconductor Physics. Holy snickers, this stuff is complicated to read about. But it looks like over time; the chemical structure of the photo-absorbing-polymer degrades as the material continues to absorb light -- and producing a current is a byproduct of this degradation. If the polymer is connected to a proper 'acceptor material' that has to be carefully selected... then the current can be transported to a circuit... and you have a functional solar panel. (Note: I am very uncertain about this last paragraph -- don't assume that the statements in this paragraph are accurate -- I am not a solid state physicist/engineer/chemist -- I am merely reading wikipedia, interpreting, and thinking out loud in this paragraph -- and if you know how this works; please feel free to speak up and explain this)
    -- Found a video on this: 'Faces of Chemistry: Organic solar cells (BASF) - Video 2 (14+)'. According to this... the plastic isn't the thing that makes it work as a solar cell -- it's actually a dye that they apply to the surface of the plastic... the dye absorbs the light (degrades?) and generates a current.
    My curiosity is not yet satisfied. What is band gap? What is quantum efficiency? What is power conversion efficiency? How does quantum efficiency relate to power conversion efficiency? What the heck is an exciton? I need to see if lectures on Organic Solar Cells exists on youtube.
    I think I'm entirely incorrect about the composition of the solar cell -- after more reading and watching videos. Organic Solar Cells are an active area of research in academia, at the moment -- and currently rely on an indium mixture coating that is expensive to use at scale (indium is really expensive). The cells here are probably just low power efficiency silicon based solar cells. : (
    Thank you for demonstrating this little solar-floodlight system. This is neat.

      P= U.I 3.2 Volts Lithium Phosphate battery x (1.5 Amps+0.5 Amps stepdow /2) = 3.2 Watts. Power solar light x Ichanger = 8 hour x 1Amps = 8 Ah. Power solar light / Iled = 8 Ah / 1 Amps = 8 hour . The problem is… the rain.

      10 hours assuming a full charge, according to the data the manufacturer provides. But... depending on solar conditions where you are at... it is unlikely to ever reach full charge. For example... it probably wouldn't perform very well in Seattle (one of the the cloudiest cities in the US)

      @@laura78552 my complaint was the bolts and hardware it came with....so I went to my local hardware store and bought basic bolts nuts and washers to drill through the wood that overhangs my deck...then I bought a pack of screws with anchors for roughly $8 after tax make shure it sais masonry if you are mounting into cement/brick like I did since my house is brick...will need a hammer drill...I just used a cheap hyper tough hammer drill from Walmart....1 light I mounted on wood...my other light and solar panel I mounted on the house with screws anchors and a washer....hope I answered all your questions....and quality of the light is amazing and super bright I have 2 lights and 3/4 of an acre and it lights my backyard up really nice...

    These floodlights are all a scam. These 196 LEDs noway produce 100W. In addition, who would ever cool a 100W LED light with a PLASTIC heatsink (the plastic housing acts as a heatsink)? Unless it is not 100W but maybe 10W which will still make it very hot but not enough to melt the plastic. 😂😂😂
