i never thought i'd see someone take gangsta walkin' to the next level, much love for the M-town and much respect to lil buck, what a way to progress my G
A artist that combines classical ballet, contemporary dance to create an art form that is hybrid dance form that is nothing short of miraculous. BRAVO!
He started learning ballet when he was 16 (saw that on the Versace video..it think.). He would teach hip hop in exchange for ballet lessons. A lot of his pirouettes have a ballet base that he’s put his own spin on...no pun intended. Regardless of what you think, it’s beautiful. This guy is immensely talented and I’m glad he’s being showcased in commercials and getting the recognition he deserves. Come a long way from jookin battles in basements.
Let it be known that this young man is from Memphis, TN. So many great artists have come from our city and this brother is no exception. Great job brother #pureart!
There's a certain level of awe in watching him perform. To be combined with classical music opens a completely new door in my mind's eye of what is possible. To understand the limitations of "the box" shows you the benefit of thinking outside of "the box." Great job.
💯%👍👍👍 Lil Buck performance brought tears to my eyes. IT was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ancestors Are Definitely Proud of Lil Buck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG what a gift. I am amazed @ how this young man has combined his gift with talent. But, maintained his desire for dance, and not allow us to squeeze him into a mold !
I always said his jooking style had a ballet style. Very graceful and smooth. Lil is actually the one who got me to like jooking my favorite jooker. He has taken jooking to another level. The king of jooking in my book! Ladia is the queen!
As an original bboy I always knew our artform would elvolve, but this. This is art in its purest form. From being shunned by the early establishments to gracing the largest stages on earth. You are a treasure Lil Buck.
And everyone who is dissing him here is just a punk because you should be thanking him for bring these arts together. To put both street and classic isn't always the easiest thing. Have respect for the art.
The way he moves is like the swan itself is trying to take flight but is dying. The amazing moves left me in awe, it feels like the audience were left in shock and amazement when he showed his moves. This is why I love dancing more than anything else.
Amazing! I did a ballet solo to the same music when I was a child and I was no where near as graceful or presented as beautiful a picture as he did! Bravo!
Absolutely GORGEOUS IIIIII I watched this years ago...and left the same comment....how beautiful...AND original ! It was also a personal touch...that he allowed himself to smile in response to the acknowledgement of the audience's appreciation. We (opera) have never been allowed to do it...so I loved his sincerity!!
Wonderful! Just saw him on The Colbert Report and my ankles are still smarting just WATCHING him. I believe he has more strength, (and grace), in his ankles and feet than I do my entire body!
Absolutely amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazin'. Man this kid right here is bringin' flava, passion, love, dignity, style, softness and power, where every single charactersign of the just called up, needs to be shown, plus he's really exact. Does he have bones. It seems to me, that he hasn't many of them. Whyelse can / could he move like that, almost like a snake. Like the Audience of wwe says sometimes - THIS IS AWESOME. No, seriously, I've never seen someone like him. He's really hard competitive opponent to salah, DNice, the twins or even lilou, although the danced styles are for the biggest part completely different. You gotta love and respect him (Lil Buck) for his efforts as well, 'cause he just teared the house down. Perfect Show and Choreography. Please keep on going like that. Aaaaaiiight.
Hmm. What's not to like? A young man who brings his style to the table which incorporates break dancing and a mix of ballet. He keeps it fresh yet artistic
So beautiful. Just goes to show that music and dance has no boundaries or categories. Beautiful interpretation of the music is beautiful interpretation of the music.
He is a trained ballet dancer, although he started out Memphis urban style know as jookin, which is what he is doing here, similar to Brooklyn flexing with more fluid less popping and locking. But we can all thank electric bogaloo late 70s for birthing all these styles of dance.
New Ballet Ensemble and School in Memphis TN maintains the copyright to Swan. An improvisational piece, it remains in the repertoire of NBE where it is danced to teach the joy of music to children from poverty. It was originally created by Katie Smythe in collaboration with Buck for an Arts Outreach performance in Arkansas. The organization is deeply proud of Buck, a rare and beautiful dancer, choreographer in his own right, a graduate. Please credit NBE when posting this Swan. Thank you.
Like all dance, 20 years from now some formal dance communities will have these moves named, categorized and catalogued, and will be telling creative kids from humble beginnings that they aren't doing it right.
I was lucky enough to see the one and only Maya Plisetskaya dance The Swan twice here in Fort Worth, Texas. She had more security when she was here than President Kennedy had. The Russians were afraid she would defect and she was and is, still considered a National Treasure. I feel she would be the first to yell Bravo after viewing this video. Give her a look on youtube at "Maya Plisetskaya -in Memoriam . Once you see her arms, you;ll appreciate more what Lil Buck is doing here.
I truly love this elegant work of art. I would have loved it even more if the wardrobe was tailored to fit the piece. It looks like Lil Buck is dressed more for rehearsal rather than a performance. Thanks to NY Times ("Have You Seen This?" series) for linking me here.
My thoughts too regarding L'il Buck and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome! I'm now living with the reality of tendon and ligament micro-injuries after 22 years of dancing. I only found out about my EDS last year. I sincerely hope that he is aware of it - and all people who have hypermobile joints. He is amazing and a joy to watch.
um... just saw him tonight... then back in 2012... now this... that was the same ending for all three. what else can he do? i mean, this was amazing, no doubt, but seriously I wanna see more!

Proof that dance is a living, growing thing, and the classics are not written in stone.
Let it be known that this young man is from Memphis, TN. So many great artists have come from our city and this brother is no exception. Great job brother #pureart!
Wuuuut! I was just telling my lady about jookin when seeing this guy dance so well. Glad to know he's representing for the M

I totally got goose bumps from watching - he FEELS that music to his core and moves so beautifully. Wow!
Love the way this young man express himself... He is so graceful. Watching him moves me. I believe that our ancestors would be proud of him.
All mankind can be proud of this man.

Poetry in motion. Lil Buck's dancing defies gravity. Bravo!
I never appreciated dance until watching this very talented man perform. Amazing. Beautiful. Moving.

So amazing! To see someone dance with joy and love of moment. A thing of beauty.

Un vrai cygne, assurément ! Après 4 mn de Lil Buck, je sens que le monde est meilleur. ♡

I've always described this dancing as awesome. Now I can see how beautiful it is!
His foot work is off the charts.
That ending. OMG! It just crushed my heart.

I appreciate ballet in its raw form too, but this guy just made it cool.
I can be optimistic by seeing things like that. this is the future
This young man is amazing. Kudos to have burst through the norm, into beautiful form. Go Charles!
Very inspiring! He has a dance vocabulary all his own and it really brings multiple styles together in an entirely new way! Brilliant!
Man ..... that was incredible! Thank Lil' Buck for sharing your talents with us!
Plus, the grace and skill he has is on the level of a ballet dancer.

Amazing fluidity . . . absolutely brilliant . . . so very sensitive . . . wow.

Nice. I love the way he still keeps his "home-style" of dancing to create true work of art. Beautiful job!
Like he took the moonwalk and raised it to the power of infinity! Amazing.
What a beautiful gift. So glad he shares it with us. 🤍
absolute wonderful job. he keeps his style but is elegant at the same time. wonderful.

I do agree it was brilliant and had passion. Your writing sucks though and WWE is such a bad example to use please do not talk ever again.
what do you call the dance he's doing? i'd like to see some tutorials of it.

Great comment Woody
Great comment Woody
I bet someone could change the music to a completely different song and people would still see musicality here.
This is beautiful! Like ballet in Jordan's. LOVE it! Great job man, and congrats on your accomplishments. May you be blessed with many more!!
