Few handfulls of seaweed will help the crabs stay fresh. Great freezing method too il be giving that a try, also when you said you do it to see if the crab is male or female have you ever found it makes a difference for the bite?
Hi Georgie, thank you for watching and, of course, your comment. I tend to prefer the Male crab. However, some may disagree. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, to be totally honest. Let's face it, this year, any peeler has been welcome 🙏
Hi Lee. All I know is the supply from the Tyne has been so poor that you just can't seem to get it from the local shops or crabbers. You can probably scratch a few out from the rocks on the low tides. Some blame a lot of fresh water in the rivers this year, but who knows?
I now have a pump, thanks Phil. All finished now like. I did used to use a tank with 2 pumps years back. Not as invested these days but I have got a small pump. Thanks for the info 👍
@@northeastangling No worries mate, Martin could have been more constructive couldn't he! Definitely worth having the pump and some fresh sea water every few days if you're bringing a few on. Thanks for the reply & enjoyed watching the video
Great watch from someone who hasn’t used peeler crabs before. I will bear it in mind when I do or even get some to try out.
Thank you, my chum. Makes it worthwhile putting it together. All the best 👍

Nice video matey.
If that's how your keeping your crab, no wonder they aren't peeling and dieing mate.
How would you suggest they should be kept?
@@northeastangling fresher salt water and a pump if you can pop a cheap one in, nothing fancy
