Definitely- it was great to see her work- she intuitively would find and spotlight what we were talking about as the conversation took its twists and turns, when others would probably have had to do a lot of patching together through editing!
My gracious! That is an outstanding collection,...of everything! It truly is amazing and your video, barely scratched the surface of what you can see there! It is just amazing! I can't even imagine owning even 1 of those pieces! Those... museum quality pieces, let alone all of them! It is just overwhelming! I can see why having a membership to the museum would be handy! There is no way you can honestly do it justice and see everything in one day! Even if it is a particular mineral that you aren't really fond of, you still have to appreciate the class of display material that they have! It's just amazing! And the zeolite room is .... there are no words! The huge display pieces! I have a tiny piece of thomsonite in my collection and I look at those and it's like two different worlds apart! Wow! Thank you for showing this! I live in Portland, and haven't even thought about visiting the Rice Museum in forever! Now I want to go! Thanks Jared and Sarah! I hope you left some zeolites in the gift shop, for the rest of us! Lol!😂
I really think a person needs like an afternoon to just browse things and then you need to come back and really focus on things that peaked your interest because its information overload. You should 100% go visit. You will love it so much!
Uniquely, the Rice Museum is a popular location for visitors from Arizona- it is not all that unusual to spy some Arizona plates in our parking lot. And while you probably wouldn't visit just to see Arizona minerals, we have an outstanding collection of them- a quick database search shows 250+ AZ specimens. If you go to the Tucson Gem and Minerals show, stop by the museum displays- you'll see us there!

AWESOME collection of minerals at the Rice Museum in Oregon. I doubt that I will ever see it in person. I've only been in Oregon once, in the latter 1970's, during a round-trip cross-country road trip with my parents, after my dad retired from teaching Vocational Agriculture in a high school in Connecticut, to the NW'ern portions of OR and CA. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. Glad I found your YT channel.

Cora and I went there today as a matter of fact. I don’t even know how to describe it other than magnificent. Definitely going back again. The fossil collection was very interesting to see up close, and the petrified wood slabs were captivating. No idea your subject today would be the very place we were at 😊

We warned Jared... at least at the Rice Museum, history has shown that a casual interest in agates can lead a person's collection to become one of the most extensive rock and mineral museums in the region!
Absolutely awesome!!! Loved seeing this and now need to plan another visit since it has been way to long. This place and Mr Rudy (no i will not try and spell his last name;) in particular got me going on my rockhounding adventure. Mr Rudy was the nicest and most willing to talk and share all about zeolites. I had always wondered what these "cool" looking white crystals of diffrent shapes and forms i had found. Mr Rudy not only took the time to help me with a basic understanding, but sat down with me and shared several of his personal maps to localities in sw washington!!! Have been back to rice since but i will miss Mr Rudy he was a treasure.

The Zeolite group of minerals is so amazing! It never disappoints. I still love more traditional rockhounding and lapidary materials but I also really like these as well.
I just want to sit on the floor and go through that book collection.😍 Also, very wonderful rock and mineral collection. ☺ Thank you for the video tour to give us a taste of it! Edit to add: as a forester, I find it tie-ins to Oregon's forestry and logging history interesting too. :)
The library is available to the public by appointment- and we won't stop you from sitting on the floor! I might suggest using one of the dinosaur bean bag chairs in our kids' reading corner. 🤣

As well they now have this on my end of things "Note that ad breaks don’t guarantee ads will appear for every viewer." meaning that some people will see ads regardless of what I do or get. This video has earned about $4 here which is painful for me considering that we drove 800 miles round trip for this and got a hotel for one night to make this happen. Perhaps some day the low paying ads on this video will put a tiny dent in the production costs but until then Patreon is what makes these videos happen. I don't expect anyone to join Patreon or even watch the ads here but I'm just trying to juggle on the plates so that I can keep making these videos happen.

Why exactly do you think that? You should reach to the museum with your reasons and credentials about this subject if you believe they have made a mistake.
I have been hunting dinosaurs as a hobby for 30 years. No credentials, just lots of field time and confirming our finds at the Royal Tyrrell Museum and any literature in our personal library.
Here is a place to start. Page 38 has some pictures that are exactly what is displayed in that cabinet. The top 2 specimens are from a different type of turtle that lived along side the more common one. naturalhistory.si.edu/sites/default/files/media/file/fossil-id-guide062812-accessible.pdf I could link more of the same, if it would help?

If you guys are ever in Radisson, Saskatchewan, Canada, go see the Sesula Mineral and Gem Museum. It's the only hands on one in North America.
