Turns out in my more than 2 years of playing the game, I didn't speak to the merchant that gives the first Dark Iron Sword so now I have an r2 lvl90 Dark Iron Sword.
Luckily this is where my laziness in talking to npcs (which I've tried to be better about lately) paid off, because I legit had never talked to that guy in Liyue and had no idea the first Dark Iron Sword was even a thing until I asked online about the new one. So then I got the first one, and now I have an R1 Dark Iron Sword, locked and sitting pretty, waiting for future refinements 😌
This makes me thankful I have held onto one of every 3-Star weapon I've acquired in the game I've had that DIS protected and locked down since I got it (being annoyingly the only one that I haven't R5'd yet as well) so looking forward to doing this quest to finally refine it! 😅
After my dumb ass may or may not (I cannot confirm or deny) used it to level another weapon and finding out, that there were (at a time) only 1 in the entire game - let's just say, that I was pretty happy to stupble onto the world quest with the 2-nd one. Sometimes it's good to be a neurotic completionist.

I was fortunate enough early on in the game to rarely ever talk to NPCs and later on happen to come across a video of the OG Dark Iron Sword, so I made sure to get it and lock it, so I don't fodder it by a mistake.

Oh damn, I can refine it. 3* weapons are honestly underrated. I didn't have anything better on my alt acc so I gave Cyno the white tassel, and it's still unironically one of the best spears
haha i only just learned about the unique weapons from chests and world quests and got myself both copies of the dark iron sword a day or two before this video was released (i'm a fairly new genshin player, still so much to see and learn and acquire) i was also fortunately still able to get more of the common but limited ones from chests, r5 and lock them, before it was too late took me almost a week to watch this and comment but i saw this in the yt recommendations right after and thought i was trippin also i wish mihoyo gave us enough dark iron sword copies by the end of the game to r5 it ("us" including most players who foddered the first, lol)
Thanks I did the quest but I always find the npc quests so boring I just wanted to get the F out of there and get it done with. I got the big chest but did not even stay to search for other chests. Went back and got it now.
I got this sword first from the quests, then after watching this remembered I got that little “new item banner” after the chenyun vale quest. So I checked back in liyue harbor and I never got the sword from the original place… I’ve been ar 60 for over a year and every zone at 100% at least I never tossed the og copy- cause I never picked it up!
Does the attack buff apply to the active character only, or the entire team? Using this on Kuki right now and although I enjoy the flex and the aesthetic, I'm wondering if it's worth the grind to forge another Iron Sting for the higher stats. Also, Dish's explanation of scarcity at 9:30 also explains Genshin's entire existence.
I threw my first one into one of my weapons early game without thinking. I didn’t even know it was gone until Dendro came out and everyone was raving about how good it was on Kuki 😭 at least i have r1 now but my “i must collect everything at all costs” voice in the back of my head is crying

So i have the Dark Iron Sword R2 in my main account.... but accidentally used the second one in my secondary account as fodder because I wasn't paying attention..... so it is currently stuck at R1 on the second account....

@dish Did you talk to the Old Guy's Junior? He's the guy who shows up outside the Guhua Ruins with the Old Guy and refuses to enter said ruins with you. If you didn't, you missed important Character Lore. And no I'm not kidding. Because if you talk to him and ask him the questions he allows you to ask, you find out that he is Xingqiu's Master. He says to you, "Have you met my Junior, Xingqiu?" I froze and had to do a double take when he casually dropped that during conversation. I was, literally, like, "Wait... What did you just say?!" I was so mad when Hoyoverse did not give the option to say either: "Yeah we know Xingqiu" or "Wait... you're Xingqiu's Master?!" Like dude just casually drops Xingqiu's name and the Traveler and Paimon don't even care. You would think Paimon, of all people, would immediately be like, "This guy is Xingqiu's Master? I'm going to squeeze him for all the tea on Xingqiu!" But no, the Traveler and Paimon are like, "Oh you know Xingqiu? Cool... So about these ruins..." And if you read all the scrolls down in the ruins, you find out that Xingqiu's Raincutter (his Elemental Burst) is actually one of three Legendary Guhua Elemental Weapon Techniques. So somehow Xingqiu learned the Legendary Hydro Guhua Sword Technique, probably from reading everything in the Guhua Library. Futhermore, upon reading everything in the ruins that the game allows you to read, you find out that the run down Wooden Post Jumping Minigame that the Old Guy puts you through as a "test" to enter the ruins was actually a Training Course developed by the guy who invented the Raincutter Technique for the express purpose of refining and perfecting said technique. So it would stand to reason that, since Xingqiu mastered the Raincutter Technique, he probably trained himself using that same Training Course. Man so much Xingqiu and Guhua Lore packed into this World Quest that nobody would know if they skipped all the dialogue and reading. Also, I hope this is all hinting at two new playable characters down the line in the form of Xingqiu's Guhua Contemporaries that are the current masters of the other two Legendary Guhua Weapon Teachniques. Because Hoyoverse can't just drop the names and descriptions of what are essentially Elemental Bursts and NOT give us playable characters with said Elemental Bursts! Also, they revealed that the Ultimate Guhua Weapon Form is a combination of Sword and Spear. Xingqiu is, obviously, a Sword Master who has mastered the Legendary Sword Technique. The other two Techniques they dropped names and descriptions for are the Spear Technique and the Combo Form Techinique. Given Hoyoverse's experimentation with Dual Weapon Wielders (like Mika and Chev) in the last two nations worth of versions, I would LOVE to see this badass Guhua Master who uses both a Sword and Spear be allowed to equip either one and wield both. So whichever you don't equip uses the "Canon Weapon Model for the character" while the weapon you do equip changes into the weapon you equipped. Like how awesome would that be to be able to choose from all Polearms AND Swords for that one character to wield? Anyway, I didn't know if you skipped a lot of dialogue and reading or not so I thought I'd drop this lore for you just in case.

I really like dark iron sword because it leaves the EM craftable sword open for my Kazuha to take, then I split scale my Kuki on HP and EM
