Of course there's nothing original about this, but Janklow does a find job in capturing the essence of Bird with strings. Great player with a wonderful sound.
I`m speechless. It`s difficult for me to comment whether this rendition is better than the Birds. It`s subjective and one`s personal opinion to pass judgement. The saxophone performance was spectacular . I must say though, that I enjoyed this performance more than the original 1950 recording. Danny, you played this with great care, excitement and showmanship. Keep up the good work and all the best for the new year. Brian

I think this, along with perhaps a few Sonny Stitt recordings, is the only recording of an alto saxophonist who managed to play the style of Bird just as well as he himself did, without sounding like an imitation.
@Danny Janklow Thanks, I remember watching you play at a concert in Livermore! It was a great performance! It was the Bothwell Arts Center with Matt Finders' band in 2017 or 2018. I still have the recordings of your solos there, actually, on my iPhone.
