These guys seem pretty comfortable on their instruments.
They do each seem to be familiar yes. They’ve probably picked them up at least once in the last couple of weeks. I’d say four months maximum.
Thought this didn’t exist, thought 2 of the greatest jazzists of all times would play together. Now I know how heaven feels like
Do people realize that this is so rare,? Who care's in 2023? We do!
I was very fortunate to work with both Oscar and Joe, when I was Norman Granz's Pablo label manger in the UK during the '70s. A phenomenal experience. I had to attend all of these TV shows, and had a ball.
Oh no, you "had to"! What a shame! That must've been dreadful!
Maan, that's so great! I'm happy for you!
Absolutely incredible when oscar peterson repeats joe pass' line at 3:13...
@@BrunoNeureiter Not necessarily like that, Peterson repeats just a few notes IMPROVISED by Joe Pass and then goes on his. What does guarantee a line is not imporvised usually is two (or more) instruments playing in unison; i mean, an arrangement, obviously
I like the smile on Joe Pass s face when Oscar Peterson takes over the line from him. Beautiful
Doesn't get any better than this...
You’re all right. It actually made me forget to breathe! I keep coming back to this one 😊🎶
Jazz at its best! Joe Pass sounds incredible as does Oscar and the band
i cant even do the leg thing xD
You guys are so hilarious , I enjoyed you all more than the music . God Bless You all
The conversation they have over the changes at the end before the last head was one of the best moments in jazz. The way they responded to each other just made me cry. God damn.
NHØP should have also been in the title. He was the Jaco of the upright
With all due respect to NHOP, I'd say Scott LaFaro was the Jaco of the upright
Oh my, so many great people to listen to and so little time to live :/
I guess i need some extra centuries!
With all due respect to everyone, why do we need a 'Jaco of the upright?' This is straight ahead jazz.
After watching this, I don't think I can be " just friends" with Oscar and Joe. They're out of my league.
Amazing!
@@Jack-cw8bw how do you reply you reply to almost every commebt
How do you reply to every comment dude I see you everywhere.
This is it folks. The best you'll ever see 👀
turn off the internet, we can all go home now.
this is just incredible...
I, my young daughter, and my wife, were at the Royal Festival Hall, London, UK for this concert.
It was the second time that we had seen the Oscar Peterson trio, 'live' and, believe me when I say, "the pleasure was ours.
In his absence, and with the most respect. I always reffered to him as. "Ozzie."
That sounds like a great memory, !!and hey, do you mind if I ask when that was? I was never fortunate to get to see either one of these guys perform. 🎶🐦
Peterson & Pass were impossibilities from the first time I heard them. But Pedersen & Drew were the foundation of the building. I think the 4 of them together is a privilege to all who get to hear them.
Watch and learn. Men were sophisticated and well mannered just a couple generations ago. I know. How far and quickly we’ve fallen.
The chemistry between these two is simply amazing!
@@hoopsmccann4834 I tried to find all the tracks by this duo but I’ve never heard this one before. Thanks!
If you lived 10 lifetimes you might hear such pure genius once if you were lucky, very lucky.
Omg , just noticed 4 of them are gone , but their music and the Legacy goes on forever .
Absolutely unbelievable, how incredible would it be to have been in the audience that night
Oscar a Canadian and Joe Pass American showing how Jazz knows no borders.
17 people don't understand greatness when they hear it, apparently.....this, my friends, is the stuff of legends......
This is how it's played!!! These gentlemen are the Best!!!!
They keep continue playing awesome jazz music in heaven, RIP Joe Pass & Oscar Peterson ❤
Truly wonderful!
a guitarist was into hendrix and rock saw joe pass and ella unrehearsed the comping and interplay was so overwhelming that he said he would have to spend light years to even come close to the mastery of that night. joe was one of my favorite guitarists.miss him a lot and the others too!
It doesn't matter what type of music you like; these guys are fantastic.
I just love Joe Pass. Iove all music, jazz, rock etnisk music, klassisk every music, I can't live withoit music, who can?
Wow!! That is amazing! Thank goodness it's been preserved; we'll never see anything like that again.

Unparalleled greatest.
Talent in these four is off the charts! NHOP on bass? Fugettaboutit.

At 3.13 Oscar replies lightning fast with joes last melody from his 4. Top stuff!
Holly cow, you are goddam right... Can see even the expression on Joe ahhahahah very nice
I'm pretty much positive he had perfect pitch, he literally sang every note he played simultaneously. It's God damn amazing!

this vid is pure gold
these splendid guys are both genius ,,,,utter sublome joy lol
Thanks for the amazing music
Oscar Peterson and Joe Pass, superhuman musicians, inconceivable, other-worldly abilities. Truly, as they say, awesome!!!
I was fortunate to see Joe Pass twice in the 80's when there was a jazz bar in the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. It was called Lytes, but I'm not sure if that is the correct spelling. I also saw Tal Farlow, Herb Ellis , and Kenny Burrell at Lytes. I once asked Kenny Burrell what he did during the week when he was in a city like Toronto or Chicago. His answer was, "practice". I also got to see Barney Kessel at the now-defunct Bourbon Street in Toronto. I feel so fortunate to have seen them live.
greatest works & genius!
I saw beautifully talented people at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
One thing that I remember, is when OP played a run on his piano and Joe pass, sticking his tongue
Out, repeated it on his guitar. Brilliant professionals.
A lovely evening out, amongst some of the finest musicians to have ever lived.
Gods of music
wwooww... dois fenômenos... salve o jazz!!
All I can say is WOW!! Unbelievable!!
They are two genius
Wow Mike I'm going to get into this tomorrow watching it and listening, thanks so much!
Two absolute geniuses 😄❤️☯️🙏
Thrilling display and great view! Love ❤️ it. Of course I’ve always loved O.P. and J.P. Thanks 😊
O.P §J.P §N.P..the finest talented and lovely persons ! Thanks to them .they give so

The iconic ❤
That's FIRE! Two gods of music together. Love that twitchin' leg (under the tension of that crazy tempo).
I love Pedersen's bass...and this tune, done brilliantly. Lovely!
What a wonderful band. Oscar, NHOP and the incredible Joe P.
REAL musicians playing REAL music!
Legends
Epoustouflant, et très bien filmé. La très grande classe...!
i saw and heard both on separate Venues - great authentic musical interpreters...
2 giants thank you
Timeless
Guaooo que maravilla Óscar Peterson !
Magnífico !!! Joe Pass e Oscar Peterson são fenomenais !
How can you even be this ridiculously good ?
These guys were the absolute masters! Best of all time
what a combo wow
Merci beaucoup for this.
*Do people understand how much talent is on this stage?? These men are mythical now. But they used to be real people. It blows the mind.*
Thankfully Aunty Beeb knew.
@@TheSpikehere True. Very true.
i saw Joe in 1991 solo..he was god
@@davidferrara1105 I'm jealous. What an experience that must have been. We don't have anyone like these men today. They played for the love of it. You can see it on their faces when they perform. Yes, they made careers at it and had to be businessmen, and that's fine, that's part of the job. But today it seems like people put the career first and the playing second. And the product isn't the same.
@@andybaldman So true, their love for the music was primary, and it showed. All of these men are legends and I consider myself lucky to be able to listen to them now.
