Thanks Martina. None of the observations about colonialism, gender, class, cultural appropriationin the book are new, even the idea of translation being a betrayal. These ideas were all the rage in the 60s 70s and 80s and reached a climax in the 90s in American universities. As someone who is 57 years old and have read Post-colonial theory, which originated with African scholars from former French and English colonies and the later legitimated in the academy by Arab and South-Asian scholars and now rehashed verbatim this "new" trend or set of ideas is old hat, demode and therefore, hilarious to me that it is given a new face and presented as "new".Great literary analysis by the way; you should have a una rubrica on books you do not like or feel ambivalent about (you are at your best as a reader/critic here.) Grazie mille. PS There is a debate between Michel Foucault- the discourse theorist who spoke first in the West about Power/knowledge ie the collusion of universities with the ruling class power structure- and Noam Chomsky on TH-cam in the 70s that you might want to look at.
