@@ChippyKings Basically if you want fish and chips go to a fish and chip shop not a kebab shop that uses frozen french fries and the wrong coating on the fish. Like if you want pizza go to a pizzeria not a hotdog stand.
I can agree in 100% but sometimes kebab take aways have excellent quality fish and chips. We were walking and took this places randomly, without any preferences or research. In this first one I ate my first dinner in Edinburgh mamy many years ago and was ok but this time not really. Test is only to check and compare, nothing else. You can disagree but if you would be just Random customer and bought it there when on a Fringe, you would be disappointed, even for this price.
@@ChippyKings Yes but in that case what you probably stumbled upon was a REAL fish and chip set up that also did kebabs. If it doesn't have the cabinet fryers with warming cabinets on top, salt and vinegar on the counter and a big bucket of thick cut hand peeled potatoes visible its not a real fish and chip fryer. Any British person would know what a real fish and chip place looks like. If it has the McDonalds style french fry fryers its not going to be real Fish and chips. All of the frying in fish and chip shops is done in a big vat of oil or beef dripping so that the flavours are combined. The fish the chips and the sausages get fried together. If there's no pies sausages and fish cakes on display give it a miss unless you have gone there for something else like a kebab.
I completely agree with you. Products fried in beef fat have a more interesting taste. I also agree with your interpretation regarding the preparation, the handmade chips and the properly made crispy and not dripping with fat after frying the butter coatinh. It sounds like the ideal but.... We test the food. We don't choose the restaurant or take away in advance, we don't make an appointment with the staff. We go with a camera, choose random place, show whats around and judge what we get. I've eaten a lot of fish and chips, including those in small fishing taverns in the north of Scotland, takeaways in Ullapool or Peterhead by the harbour (Dolphin !! The best in Peterhead). I would like to point out that you can be sometimes pleasantly surprised. Teuchter Landing on a Leith Shore. A pub with over a hundred whiskies, beer and wine.... The best fish and chips I've eaten in Edinburgh so far. Thick cut fries with a crust, thin, crispy and falling apart under the teeth better coating, thick tartar sauce, madness! And it's a pub... Not a professional fish fryer.... Is it possible? Yes. There are plenty of places like this. Javits, theoretically an Italian kebab and fish and chips place. A simple take away... The fish is excellent. If you want, you can have anything. Let me stress again, we test random places, we don't choose. If they have a certain product on offer, we test :) I encourage you to like us and subscribe to our channel, there will be more of us and more often. This is our beginning but we are growing fast :)
@@ChippyKings yeah own taste .but the broon sauce has vinegar in it anyway lol. Yet to see a chippy giving salad in a fish supper for takeaway. Maybe if you were sitting inside then theyd do it.

£12 fish n chips. Rip off
Also salt n vinegar . Better wi salt n brown sauce
It is of course up to your own taste. I don't like vinegar on chips or fish, only on a salad.

No better way to ruin a chippy than brown sauce 🤮
@@LookItsMrT must be a weegie or english. Majority of chippy is salt n broon sauce which has vinegar in it wi a spice
