@jerijames2876 The concrete has plenty of room to expand out away from the house. And the sidewalk at the bottom won't stop it from expanding down. There are many situations where we would place expansion (garage or basement floor, between city and residential property, or a set of steps like this between 2 buildings, or a pad with lots of protruding corners). But this was not one of them.
