Thanks for watching, rough days happen, I didn’t play well and ran bad on top of that. It’s a bad combination for any bankroll. Having a bad day is just part of life, it makes you appreciate the good days that much more.
For all the hands you didn't show that you said you folded flops... Were you battling any of those? It's important to sometimes push your preflop range advantage on people a bit. Even against total calling stations you'll win or get a cheap showdown. Just wondering how you feel about your post flop play when you miss..?
When the flop hit my perceived range I would cbet if I was the pre flop aggressor. I even 3 bet some in position, get called in 3 or 4 spots and face a bet and raise on the flop. Couldn’t continue. Action got crazy, like the KK hand, 2 limpers call a 66 bet!? I’m sure I wasn’t playing my best and may have missed some opportunities, it is frustrating when it’s raining chips and I have an umbrella over my stack.
@@dougmccuskerpoker I understand. Just making sure you weren't just giving up and it sounds like you weren't. Sucks when you can pickup some hands in a loose game!
I was half watching whilst playing, but the 65 river call seems pretty much a must. he doesn't always have 44, you're just pin pointing 1 hand when running bad rather than a range. nice vlog again. good luck next session
Just want to offer my two cents on a few hands: 4s - A little too aggressive with the pocket 4s but maybe you were putting them on two over cards. KK - I agree, cant get away from that,,, I would have called the all in too. 65 - I couldn’t have folded the trip 6s either. Tough session man.
I was surprised at how sticky the players were, not just with me. Apparently any two will do no matter the price. Thought my $66 bet would get some folds from the $3 limpers.
@@dougmccuskerpoker In that instance they didn’t fold because previously in the session they saw you raised huge with the pocket fours. After that the table wouldn’t give you respect you needed to fold out the weaker hands and take down the pot!
For 1-3, Capitol, 2-5 Thunder Valley, Stones is good, but I play at Capitol and Thunder the most. Both Capitol and Stones close at 10 pm. Thunder is indoors and 24/7
What is your typical 3 betting range with some of these hands I think you can 3 bet a lot more to increase your win rate and give some more action to get more with your bigger hands......
I do need to work on my aggression and my 3 bet sizing, normally I would 3 bet 3x or 4x depending on game dynamics. My range for 3 betting is fairly tight in early to middle position with QQ+, AK, AQo, and some hands like 78s, A5s for balance. Late position depends on the position of the original raiser, but the later their position, the more likely I would 3 bet lighter. Hands like 99+ ATs+, KQ, A4s, A5s, some suited connectors and some middling pairs. My natural style is closer to the nitty side of poker, so I am learning a new style and haven’t hit my comfort level yet. Once I feel comfortable playing an aggressive style and my bankroll is adequate, I will play larger.
@@dougmccuskerpoker I hear that I'm kind of on the nittier side of things as well, however opening up your game a bit while your opponents think your a nit is like printing money. Use your image to your advantage, once you show up with hands they never thought you would have leaves them confused and capable of making larger mistakes later on....in 1/3 you will run into AA sometimes but think about making the best decisions and not about the money involved....you will be better then your average 1/3 player pool. I have done this on multiple occasions and it has translated into my largest winning sessions. You can always tighten back up as well. It just puts more cards in your range rather then top 10 percent of hands typically. Crushing requires you to do the opposite of what the opponents think....
@@surfingaroundtown103 Thank you for that suggestion. I’m a firm believer that the method you describe is more optimal. I do mix it up on occasion and have been using my image to my advantage. I just need to do it more. So many talented players have given me many ideas that I need to incorporate. I’m doing so in baby steps, trying certain ideas and styles to find an effective style that I can play in my comfort zone. What I am realizing is that I need to expand my comfort zone to make my opponents uncomfortable. Will be opening up my game in the near future, studying hard and reviewing my play has opened my eyes to many deficits in my game. Thanks for the great suggestions, will put it to use.
I try to keep a bankroll of 20-30 max buy in to the game I am playing. The 1-3 at Capitol plays bigger than most 1-3 games. There you can match the stack of any player at any 1-3 game. When I approach the upper range, I will start to take shots or move up to the next higher limit. Thanks for watching.

On the KK hand you said you bet 110 and the guy shove for 190, then you reshoved? 190 is an underraise and as such you shouldn't have been allowed to rejam only call or fold
Have to say it Mr Doug.... When the table sees you raise to 90 with pocket fours and you have to show that. The table perceives you as an Agro player, so when you hit big hands, keep betting... they will believe your overplaying your hands and call you down light. The KQ of spades... lucky Mr Doug. I wish I could play live poker ... unfortunately it would cost me about a weeks wages to sit down at a 1-3 game & I doubt I'll ever be able to afford that very often. Wish they had 25-50 cent tables for us bums lol
What a great way to end the vlog... I went 3 streets against someone with the nuts and blew my entire wad. It's cool to be gunshy after getting out flopped so often but the pocket Jack's hand was prolly the easiest one to walk away from.
The JJ was a possible lay down with certain players, but the last two hands he shoved with were top top, and top second top. But I need to be able to release a hand like the 5 6, when I think I’m beat. That one bothered me more because that type of player doesn’t get out of line and is never bluffing. I’m only calling for a chop. Bad call on my part.
All the outs in the world with the last hand and still lose to brick turn and brick river. Hands like that make me never want to play with the dealer lmao although I don’t know what line you took perflop with that hand with the said villain, you probably overplayed the hand post flop and committed too much too soon even with all those outs it’s the smart thing to do to just see what develops turn and river, I’ve adopted this in my hold em game now after playing mostly PLO where equity runs close
I might have been able to save a bet, I knew he was strong. But he was going to win a big chunk of my stack or all of it. With increase aggression comes increase variance. It will all break even in the long run.
U got to mix the game up more sitting waiting for premium hands is a sound strategy however if u are viewed as rock doesn't help ur action in the long run
So true, I’ve been opening my game up. Still learning and getting comfortable with this new style. I spent many years as a nit, but you and the viewers have a front row seat to see if this old dog has a new trick left. Stay tuned, it’s going to be interesting.
I think every game has the opportunity to be profitable if you can adjust to the game flow, that being said, I always prefer games that my natural style doesn’t have to adjust to. I don’t have to think about my adjustments, I just play.
44, no raise, limp, fold to all in. Overplayed it. I'd rather watch what might have been than getting trapped with crap, even if it would have hit. KK. When I'm sucking hind teat, I just play soft, no raises, or just change tables or leave, the wind isn't blowing in, it's blowing out and my chips with it.
You should be thinking "what hands does my opponent think I could have (for value- made hands and semi bluffs) that would play this hand the way I've played it? Once you understand the range you're repping based on your opponent's interpretations of the way you played each street, you can spot value spots better. And it'll help you read your opponent's hands better, too. That said, i think you realize that the 44 hand at the end was played poorly because the story being told was inconsistent. It screamed "c-bet...not very indicative of strength or weakness"...followed by a check/call, id say appears weaker than checking both flop AND turn, as players will often check 2 streets when polarized strength when they "have the board locked up"/weakness when they've given up on the pot...but once you've surrendered the betting lead on the turn by checking, I think you need to stick with this story and check/call or c/r river. One reason is because, whether intended or not, relinquishing the betting lead by checking the turn effectively turns your actual hand into a bluff catcher (so by checking here, you're betting on ONLY extracting value when he bets for value or bluff...and since you relinquished the betting lead on the turn, your range is more capped than his). The point being- the toughest positions you can put your opponent in are when you could be holding the nuts or a bluff and they need to flip a coin in a marginal spot to be correct. This hand reminds me of a time I called down a big river bet with 22 on a KJ7K4 board because he checked the turn after c.betting flop. My thoughts for that call were: "he'd be betting trips for deceptive value far more often than checking back when the turn pairs the board...and now facing a pot sized river bet, he's not betting for value with any 2 pair on the board"
Great breakdown of your thought process, you make some great points, I made a bad call against the 44, it bothered me more than any other play that day. I knew better and still paid him off. I do need to more aware of my image and my perceived range. Thanks for watching and the great feedback.

Thanks 😊
Sick Jacks 😴😴😴
Fell asleep listening to you
No charge for curing your insomnia.
#2 fan here. I didn’t enjoy the 6/5 call or the K/Q. Get em next time
Actually AK vs fish on an AJ9 board should be bet bigger, target the Ax fish who wont let it go
U got to mix the game up more sitting waiting for premium hands is a sound strategy however if u are viewed as rock doesn't help ur action in the long run
So true, I’ve been opening my game up. Still learning and getting comfortable with this new style. I spent many years as a nit, but you and the viewers have a front row seat to see if this old dog has a new trick left. Stay tuned, it’s going to be interesting.
Being active and never showing down hands is a tough image to cultivate, but gives you that LAG look that def gets you paid
I'm 9 minutes in and still haven't seen Zuess? That's your biggest mistake it's a huge -ev move.
Zeus is in the newer vlogs
Hie. Not sure if it's polite to say that ur game is too passive to become profitable. Though finding the balance is never easy.
I think every game has the opportunity to be profitable if you can adjust to the game flow, that being said, I always prefer games that my natural style doesn’t have to adjust to. I don’t have to think about my adjustments, I just play.
Go Doug!
I always think your name says “McCuckster”
I have an extra pair of glasses if you need some.
Doug McCusker lol I’m sorry! It wasn’t meant to offend you or directed at you. I’m just a 🤡 and that’s seriously what I see before I read it.
I will except that as an apology, thanks for watching, we need more clowns in the world.
Jam was good with AK off.
*love
Have you read a book?
A few
3 bet 4x pot with AQ suited.
Agree, my line was too passive
Not Bad
Thanks for watching Bill
Not sure what’s worse, getting tons of playable hands and whiffing or getting no playable hands at all. Both suck lol
Getting no hands is cheaper, getting playable ones give you hope. Thanks for watching.
Some days your the bug and some days the windshield
Where do you sign up to be the windshield?
No need to rejam with kings. You could have built a side pot with a call.
I wasn’t sure how to proceed, he did say he would have sucked out on me, but didn’t say how.
Every time I lost with KK, that's not my day based on my experiience
When you lose with them on such a dry flop, it definitely isn’t your day.
I'm telling you brotha, play 3-5 you won't have these problems
Yeah, makes me want to play in a normal game.
@@dougmccuskerpoker telling you I only play 1-3 to wait for 3-5. Ya all games we all run into a bad call lucky river but I know for a fact you would do well in a bigger game. Just saying Brotha
The short stacks ruin the fun of cash game poker. It just enrages me when you sit at a table and a bunch of short stacks are at the table that just jam pre to gamble. I just want to tell them to go play tournament poker.
Makes it hard to navigate with deeper stacks when there is a chance of a random jam. I loved your feedback on the QQ hand, you were spot on. Thanks for the comments and feedback.
@@dougmccuskerpoker I'm glad it helped.
I’ve watched all these vlogs for the most part... gotta ramp up the editing. Wasn’t a fan of the last hand history where I was just staring at a blank faced stare.
Yeah, sorry about that. Should have done that better.
I do enjoy the videos though! I will keep following and watching. You are a good poker player
@@garrettkheshtinejad9814 hopefully I will become a better player and video editor as time goes by. Lol
Danny N often goes with his radar. You just say it, "oh, picket 4s" show the 6 and fold. They always show. It's cards, who cares?
better change the house
Can't win them all
At least your honest how bad you play
If you can’t see your faults, it’s hard to fix them
