My parents took me in 1968 by Madras Mail from Bombay to Madras. I remember certain names like Guntakal, Gooty and Arkonam. I was 9 at the time. We left India soon after so it was a notalgic trip for me as well.

I travelled on this line from Bangalore to Lonavala on 15th November ( See some of my Videos ). The electrification is complete till WADI and many trains are using Electric Traction between WADI and Chennai Central / Bangalore City Via Guntakal. It is pity that both Electrification & Doubling work on this track is proceeding at Snail's pace. I call it the Most Neglected section of IR

At least since thirty-three years, I have been traveling from Madras to Bombay regularly. There is no change either in speed or comfort. Same old speed, same old crossings and dullness. Two days Journey still tires the man. The actual journey time should be at the best 14 hours. Then you can say the trains are fast.
things have changed now, this train has been LHBFIED and speededup and converted into a Superfast in Recent Times, old times are over now sadly, also Pune Wadi Section is almost electrified too.
There is no history in Chennai to mumbai journey. It is the same old story of 24 hours with so many stops, all fast passengers , called as express and super express. Time has stopped in this part of railways.
Very nice covering the varied topology of the Deccan. Could have shown doubling progress between Bhigvan- Vakav and Akalkot Road-Gulbarga. The river crossed between Shahabad and Wadi is the Cognee, not the Bhima; it is a tributary of the Bhima though.

In this video You have not covered the Doubling part between Daund - Gulbarga . specially kurduvadi - Vakav and AKOR road - Gulbarga .or the work has not commenced only Between AKOR road - GR?.

Ha ha this is historic the train that nobody cares in my teens in the nineties some where after gulbarga they hooked a steam engine boy oh boy that was the fastest leg .
Great video. For some reasons I thought the entire Mumbai Chennai route is electrified. BTW, Sitting in an alien land I am trying to savor the flavor of Indian Railways. It’s my request if you could add couple of minutes shots for arriving, in station experience, and of departing each station, it would be an immense addition to the overall presentation. Other experiences to be added could also include hawkers in the train selling Jhaal Moodi, chana, samosa, and other savories.

My Family And I Travel Regularly On This Route It Was A Feat To Watch.
It's a very comfortable train. Finish all your work for the day and leave and reach early morning. Same in the return also.
