- After the success to my 'How To Decant Lipsticks' tutorial, I decided to create video on how to create your own custom lipstick shades! This was highly requested, and is so simple to do. Mixing lipsticks together is a great way to customise your palette, and is ideal if you have purchased a handful of lipsticks that you're not too keen on because the shade doesn't suit you - instead of wasting your money and throwing the lipsticks away, reinvent them by melting the down and making a whole new shade that does suit you!

You need:
Tea-light candle
Metal spoon
Empty lipstick palette
Lipsticks
Metal spatula / Orange woodstick
Scotch tape
Paper
Pen

This was a real trip down memory lane for me. Except back in the seventies and eighties there were no cool lipstick palettes like that available. I poured mine in old cleaned out lip gloss pots.I'd have killed for a palette like that! TFS! xoxo
i just mix them without heat. i even mixed matte lipstick with matte foundation old eyeshadow and even liquid lipstick. It turned out great. I am afraid of using heat because I think it might change the formulation. like in all the products it is written store in cool. and I just warm up the lipstick with my fingers and works great. I love this because some older shades which I bought online don't look like they were supposed to, it just helps me save money. I don't think I need to buy lipstick for another year. I for one don't really see value in buying a really expensive lipstick :) when you mixed MAC and Bobi Brown, I legit screamed a little. it feels illegal to mess with such high-end products. but I am glad it worked out well for you.

This is so helpful and definitely something I'm going to try. It's so true that you will see a lipstick colour on one person and it looks lovely but when you try it on yourself it's just not the same. Thank you for sharing this Shonagh 💄👌🏼
Yes most definitely, and you can see if it's a case of it being too dark or light, this gives you the opportunity to change it and make a few different shades from each lipstick :)

Ohhhhh this is such a great idea Shonagh. And a wee tip to get as much of the lipstick as you can off the spoon, if you rub a tiny bit of olive oil onto your spoon first, the new lipstick should slide off the spoon better giving you the maximum amount of your new lipstick without much wastage on the spoon and less scooping it off too. I'll have to give this a go because Im a blonde and very pale I find nude coloured lipsticks wash me out.....but adding a wee touch of pink or red might warm it up a bit to the point where it actually suits me. I just declutter es my lipstick eg wrong shades or wrong formula. They would be headed to the trash since I cannot really give them away. This gave me the idea to perhaps give them a new life by playing with the wrong shades to see if I can come up with something I liked.

How do you clean the spoon after each use? Jeff
I use IPA (cosmetic grade alcohol) to remove it, but it comes off so easily just with tissue as it’s on metal.

This is not how u make your OWN lipstick she used a lipstick heated it then poured it into a pallet
It’s about creating your own custom colours.
