Gosh I love Melanie Martinez! Her songs are very deep and meaningful. There's lots of symbolism in her music videos. They really make you feel so much emotion. Ya'll would love Sippy Cup, Soap, Dollhouse, The Bakery, Pacifer Her, Pity Party, as well as K-12. Really any of her songs I think you would enjoy. Haha

“Don’t be dramatic, it’s only some plastic. No one will love you if you’re unattractive.” That’s gotta be my favourite line, personally. All the lines of the lyrics have their own and personal deep meaning. When I was a little younger I thought I had no beauty and when discovered Melanie and her songs, I found this sound very relatable. I was so young to think I was ugly but I was always just told stuff like “You’re ugly”, “you have so much acne”, “you’ll never find love” and all that. But that’s just bc everyone is insecure of themselves and they think putting others down will make them “prettier”. But it’s not true. Everyone is beautiful and plastic surgery won’t help you. You might feel nice for a little while but then you’ll miss how you used to look. I love all her music. All of you are amazing Btw! Love yourself!!
This song is so relatable. Society puts so much pressure on women to be beautiful and look a certain way. The self-judgement starts so young, too... People around me also made me believe that I was ugly, but it turned out that I was very beautiful. I didn't even know how pretty I was until I was an adult and relearned self-love.

Hey guys! I’m so excited your reacting to Mel! She’s my favorite artist! Would love if you guys listened to her new album Portals and her EP from a couple of years ago After School! Her first album is Cry Baby, her second album is K-12, I love both as well, but her newest album and her EP before that are my personal favorites lol😂💕
This song is about plastic surgery and its consequences in regards to social standards of beauty especially its results on women and this is just ONE case. Cry Baby (Melanie’s former alter-ego) turns the channel which we see in the start of the MV showing Mrs. Potato Head greeting her husband who gives her flowers, necklace, and a note saying she has a face-lift scheduled. Mrs. PH tried to act happy but in reality wasn’t but wanted to PLEASE her husband. AT the appointment Mr. Potato Head showed the doctors what he wants his wife to get by drawing surgical lines on her face and wherever else. Overall, Mrs. Potato Head ended up getting larger breasts and a face-lift but before the surgery she is shown removing the traced lines on her body and stuffing her breasts with tissues. Her husband ofc does not notice the signs of her trying to look better for him to avoid surgery but still gets it done which we see went horribly wrong. And now the man is of course NOT satisfied with her looks and ends up finding her unattractive “no one will love you if you’re unattractive” which is what Melanie sings. There are multiple themes here…. one is that Mrs. Potato Head realizes she was beautiful without her numerous cosmetic operations, and should not be conforming to modern beauty standards especially what is expected by some MEN. Secondly, it is not that Melanie bashes cosmetic procedures as you cannot tell ppl what to do with their body and Melanie herself is all for pro-choice or body anything. It is more that she feels that we as humans should love ourselves regardless of who may think we come across as not attractive enough or whatever. Basically, If you won’t love me for me, I will just move on and find me a better other person. But if you cannot find another person that is fine because we will always gonna be there to pick up our own pieces like that for the pieces of the potato head toys.
