One of the best and clearest “How to wire” videos I’ve seen yet. You are a great teacher! Thank you so much! Especially nice that you work with commonly purchased material also. Very helpful!
We all have branches snap but it causes us to turn a seemingly negative into a positive. I have yet to see that end our journey on any tree. Well done David.
😂 I’ve broken so many branches after wiring & accidentally discovered notching through those disasters. Only through you learnt how to wire properly, thank you 🙏🏻
thank you for sharing video like this ... because i had some experience like this ... broke brittle branch when i go to wire it up .. and you know i blamed myself at that moment
There's a massive bittersweet in our yard, and it is just a pain to keep pruned yearly. Thinking about digging it up and and putting in a training pot to eventually become a nice bonsai. Wish me luck🤞
The branched snapped off is a good thing I was staring at it hard and I thought I broke it by giving it ojo 👁 but if it were my tree I would have taken it out anyway! so good thing it did break because it gives the tree a good even balance look to it… nice 😊
see saw! I have had that problem so many times, thank you for showing me how to avoid it :) I would love to see how you cope with harsh canada winters for your bonsai. I live in Alberta and am still learning about wintering bonsai.
Hi David! Way to roll with the punches! Breaking a branch always hurts. You recovered nicely though. Starting deciduous bonsai certainly isn't as glamorous as starting a coniferous tree, but years from now is when it will shine! Bonsai!
I'm lucky I've come across your channel, David. I've enjoyed every second of the video and that break was a bonus for me just because I can see that I'm not the only one who does that! :) I have to say that I sighed as I saw you spending that wire so abundantly! It's so expensive here I can't afford that much! :((
I've been enjoying and appreciating your bonsai vlogs very much. Thank you for sharing. I know the oriental bittersweet is considered invasive here in North America so folks should look for nursery grown native bittersweet as you have. Will you let it grow out as a vine during the summer or keep it pruned as a tree?
Thanks for the video sir. If you can take us with when you go find pre bonsai at garden senter that be a great video. Or take a trip to the bonsai zone and do a collab with nigel. Then your channel would sky rocket with subscribers
Thanks for sharing... this is a great video actually, it shows that we might face unplanned situations and how to deal with it... ;). I really appreciate your video.. ;) ..
Nice work. Simple but elegant. I personally feel that the branch towards right is little too long, and extends away from the trunk. I would have brought it down further to form a cascade, closer to the trunk line. Cheers!
That plan B works out really well. Today, I broke a Chinese Pistache branch when I bent it. My backup plan was using green electrical tape and taping up the whole branch. Nobody knows if the branch is broken. I think it may heal up nicely.
@@BonsaiSociety Yeah that is why I asked. Heard you on Ryan Neil's podcast, then immediately found you here on youtube. Looking forward to whatever you put out!
That broken branch; i've had luck using a drop of Gorilla Glue to physically repair a cracked branch. Now since I've been typing this, I see it's off. No glue will fix that, of course.

That's an awesome compliment. Thank you!
Nice tree. . Good recovery from the broken appex. Well done

I snapped some branches yesterday, they must have been frozen. Crapola!
We must always think positive!

Great video!! Keep them coming 🙌🏼
I love seeing these videos starting from the beginning. I would love to see what your looking for when you're shopping for new trees.
Thanks James! Great suggestion. We'll cover that topic in upcoming TH-cam videos
@@BonsaiSociety thanks
Wow, that’s thick for bittersweet! I didn’t even recognize it at first. Great vid, thanks David!
You can find many much thicker trunks in nature so keep a lookout
Lovely
What a unique bonsai awesome work my friend, and happy holidays !

So grateful for this knowledge. Thank you, David!
David could you do a video on improving ramification on ginkgos?

Rooting for you David!
Thanks for the support
Looks great ..Bravo !

Thanks Steve! Yeah when we have these disasters it's always disappointing but thanks for the encouragement
Love your voice so calming. Best demo I've seen yet learning a lot. Easy to understand. Thank you!
Thanks Debbie! Bonsai is a meditative art so one must always remain calm
I always learn something from your videos. Thank you.
That's nice of you!
David I am learning so much from your demonstrations! I hope to view many more.
Yes there will be many many more!

You must show us this tree in springtime again. Thank you for another instructiv lesson.
Yes there will be many more updates in the coming months
@@BonsaiSociety looking forward to that .
From England 👋🏻 love your videos mate, your ace 👌🏻 ✌🏻👊🏻
first time watching, i love it! would love some tips for someone looking to get started, any recommendations, etc
Amazing video!
Hey Bilal thanks for joining us here as well
Looks like a nice little addition I will be adding to my collection as well now! On a side note, I like that sweatshirt too 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks Chris my son has a merch printing business and he gave me that sweatshirt! Who knows maybe it could be good material for a bonsai apparel line
@@BonsaiSocietyAbsolutely! Great idea! "Earthy" tones like the khaki/tan/brown and maybe some forest green ones.... I really like that idea.

Do you want to start over with another tree? 😂
It works out in the end Great video David

Nice work sir and thank you for sharing. Maybe it could be placed on an angle to accentuate the cascading.
You have a valid point

There's many ways to do bonsai. And every way can be right!
Hi!! I’m curious what this bonsai vine looks like already 2 years down the road 😊 Hope you can post an update!
I use left-over wires for fastening stuff. I put them in a jar.

I hope it does heal !
Can you make some videos on penjing in the future, and maybe the difference between the Chinese style vs Japanese style as you see it.
Great suggestion Stanley. I took care of a penjing collection for many decades!

Thank you for including mistakes
