Hi Barbara - you should use the negative from the die cuts to make a shaker pocket! Add acetone to the back and fill up each butterfly with different colors, THEN use it to make a pocket or tuck spot. I have not seen that done before, could be a fun add on!

You could use a cotton bud on your embossing stamp pad, then use that to add the Versamark more randomly to your die cuts. Or even better, dip something into some watered down Gum Arabic (cotton bud or a dotting tool or try flicking it on?) then use that randomly on the die cut & add the glaze. As long as it’s still a bit sticky, it should be enough to hold the powder on & will dry with the glaze

I literally just finished my first complete journal today. That journal that you have here from Honey, I used a similar technique for the spine where the circle shows the signatures. It’s really cool how that part looks. I made the journal for my husband for his birthday. It was a little late because his birthday was February 29th. Anyway, it started out as a “dark journal”, one where he could put his sad thoughts but then the more I made it the more it just became funny 😆 instead, so I changed it into a free for all journal and put some color in it. He likes brighter colors so I had some of our boys coloring and painting pages in there. It turned out very interesting. It was very simple really. It took a lot of time but still pretty simple. I put most work into the cover and sewing in pockets. I left a lot of journal space and didn’t get very artsy with the pages. He’s a writer so I thought it would be best to leave it more for writing space. Hopefully he’ll use it. If not, it was a good test run!!
I watch you and Louise almost daily and have been binge watching videos because I want to catch up on your old videos as well. I think it’s cool to see how your creative process grows and changes over time. Your videos are very inspiring and I like how you make it look approachable. Sometimes we look at something and think how could I ever make that? But watching your videos and seeing the process broken down, it makes sense how one could do it.
I left Louise a similar message. You both inspire me so much and I like both your styles so I figured I should let you both know that I finally completed my first journal!
    Thank you! 😊

I have experiments with a pancake hot plate instead of the heat gun. It provides a hot surface to melt the powders without blowing them away. It is a different effect, but works very nicely. You can also use a wet brush to apply powders, rather than pouring over. Also, different effect.

The trouble with the distress embossing glaze is that the liquid it sticks to must be viscous. Just water won’t do. You could try water with some added glycerin?

Hi Barbara, Greetings from Missouri, USA. Thanks again for another delightful junk journal video. I really appreciate your concise monologue explaining the steps you take and the rationale behind your decisions. There are so many tips and techniques I am learning. I like the idea of individual journals for experimentation and the different backgrounds. I think I will be doing this at some point in the future. I find I am gravitating to themed journals, so this makes sense to me. I have never used a die cutting machine and would not know where to begin with. Any suggestions for a beginner that is economical? Have a great day.

Dear Barbara, Thank you so much for your creative influence in my life- you have given me a bit of bravery for my own projects. However- recently you started playing a song on your channel- which used to be played ALOT on DIY Dollar Tree youtube channels that I used to watch -but stopped mostly because of the song. It's a beautiful song to most- I don't want to mention it by name- because I don't want to offend the artist who has a beautiful silky voice- and is probably a dynamite individual just trying to love life and take care of people and pets and the environment. And I love music- love it love it. But for whatever reason this particular song has it in for me and it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to my ears. So selfishly I ask that if you have alternative songs for your channel- let them ring!! I know this is a strange strange request- and I can't tell you how your channel saves the day for me-you have no idea.I apologize to anyone I might offend. Hey, what do you expect from a flower child Vermonter?

I posted a suggestion above about trying some watered down Gum Arabic (which is a Versamark alternative) to splatter onto the page. Dries along with the melting of the embossing powder & is more sticky than water so should hold your powders better 😊 Haven’t tried it yet, but theoretically it should work!
