Waitangi Day is not really a day of celebration for us Māori as the signing of the Treaty started a lot of problems due to the difference in translations between the English and Māori versions of the Treaty. Māori are still dealing with the grievances from this today which is why the Waitangi Tribunal was created to return the stolen land that was taken through the Treaty and other legislations by the Crown
Love how you guys adopt family members on your journey it gives character to your videos, hope the girls enjoyed themselves and educated on what waitangi day really means, awesum vlog guys😎🇳🇿❤️
Wait till you see who we adopted next. 😂😂 We actually filmed this video after visiting the treaty of Waitangi grounds where we learned all about the treaty. Once we get caught up we’ll be posting a video on it as well.
Hi. I'm the guy in the tiny little Pram dinghy, that rescued you guys during the parade. Just imagine ...... 100kg of me, a 6 ft long dinghy, 4 of you, Jesse Rose and other gear - all hauled ashore by the little 2hp Yamaha outboard on Freda, my little boat. Glad I could help. What fantastic experiences you have all had. Keep up the travels, or better still - stay in NZ. But keep finding the Joy in Diversity !!! Great to meet you. Grahame.
100% fun!!!🎈🎉 Exactly what we need to watch during our current weather bomb! And what a beautiful dignified couple your special friends are. And no eels were harmed in the making of this video! Please settle in NZ! We need your amazing girls to be kiwi ambassadors!💖🇳🇿
I like how you all get involved enjoying a beautiful waitangi weekend 🌅 heaps of fun activities, meet and greet, Aunty and Uncle are lovely and enjoyed your homemade desert "better then the shop" 👌🏽
Hello Mrs Chantal,Chloe, Julia and Angelique have a great day and continue having fun, That was a beautiful day and l liked how they took the sweets out of the water jajaja 🍬🍬🍬🍬🍬
Have happy memories of sailing on Lake Rotoiti, paddle boats on lake Rototua, swimming in lake rooms, then soaking in hot soda stream/ pool. Such a beautiful part of nz
It’s a really good thing we didn’t see any eels or we would have probably freaked out. Something about how long they are that makes them seem so gross.
Hi guys -love your work. Watched a few and enjoyed! I thought I might help your journey with a pronunciation tip: every syllable in te reo (maori) ends in a vowel - also the NG sound is considered to be one letter similar to the last sound in "sing"> So Waitangi should be split Wai - ta - ngi. If I try to do this phonetically it might look Wy - tar - ngee
Oh wow! You'll see more of Lake Rotoiti in some of our next videos since we spend quite a bit of time in and around Rotorua! Thanks for dropping us a line!!🤩🙌
@@GrowingUpWithoutBorders Reminds me to have been sun burnt really strong one time - looong ago, when I was a bit younger..! It was the first morning in Rimini/Italy that I went swimming straight after breakfest around 9am and stayed in the Mediterrainian Sea for about an hour and a half, near the beach of course. And I didn't use sun blocker at all, I hated the smell of it. But I regreted not to, because then my back was totally sun burnt all over, which I eventially realised when I came out of the water. In the evening we went out for a walk to visit some pizzarias, but I had to change my tight jeans first into a "normal pair of trousers" as I couldn't walk in the jeans with my sun burnt back at all...
Oh I hear you. Been there and done that before too except I was 19 years old in Genoa Italy with friends. We were so burnt we couldn’t move. It’s was so bad.
@@GrowingUpWithoutBorders What do you mean with: "..except I was 19 years old then in Genoa.." ? It happened to me when I was 18, as I said a looong time ago..!
You've turned into Kiwis! I can't blame you. It's a beautiful country.

Sounds like you have real nice memories from your time there. We loved it too!
There are eels but they will avoid you, also good trout fishing in the lakes, and if you're extra lucky you may find some freshwater koura (crayfish)
It’s a really good thing we didn’t see any eels or we would have probably freaked out. Something about how long they are that makes them seem so gross.
I like your laugh.
I can’t remember who was laughing but thanks!
I love those hats!
I know...can you believe we found them at an op shop!!
Wow didn't know about this awesome place! so nice to watch on this cold winter's evening in Otago
One day you’ll have to make your way up to discover it!
I think Chloe looked most classy in her very classic dress..!
I’ll let her know 😉

Why Tongue E
Ng as in the way the Vietnamese pronounce it.

Hello growing😇
Hi!
Hello 😊
Great video!
One thing though - you might want to use more sunblock cream as it's really easy to get sunburn in NZ.
Cheers :)
Yes and especially on a day like that where we were on the water for so long.
