Using a safety pin, slide the pin through the screw holes on the plastic cover and pry the cover up. When the cover is off sand the edges wherevever it is binding in the cavity.
The next time it will fall out after you remove the screws and turn it upside down.
    Cheers--Duke

To pop off those sticky back covers, I keep a thing with a suction cup on my desk. I stick it on the cover and pull and it pops right out. It was actually a thing my wife had to stick on the mirror to hang necklaces on, but I confiscated it for a more technical use. ;)

I have an Ibanez 7-string, It's insanely hard to get the back off, but you have to slide it to one direction, I usually use a paper clip, and put it in the small crack that you made by sliding the back to one side, then pry. ;)

Yeah. That thing is stuck on there like white on rice.I feel compelled to just rip it up and get a new back somewhere else.I've tried just about everything.I've come to the notion that removing the back without any cosmetic damage is impossible...

Is it just me or does it look like the string don't align perfectly with the fretboard?

You'd have to be prepared to rout a larger control cavity. They don't like to give you too much room to work in there.

This bass sounded rubish on the previous vid, sounds really nice today. Mind you I have the same thing with my guitars! Sometimes just no matter how much I adjust 'em they sound bad!
(I know it was the amp that made the difference)
What happened with the '57 R.I. pickup by the way?

@davey4557 I have an Ibanez that doesn't have a pick guard. However, can't take the back off.I tried prying it open with a knife(a flathead is too thick),but I stopped to prevent any damage to the finish of the guitar. What should I do?

there is enough room to chisel out a bigger cavity without getting another cover. I've done it before

If I owned that bass I would upgrade the pickup and make a Stingray preamp for it. then it would be a killer axe
