Change can be a good thing - a chance for a new kind of fun. That is just what fans will see as part of this year’s Evening of Musical Freestyles. In 2017, Anna Buffini of Escondido performed an exciting and emotional freestyle with her High Performance partner, Sunday Boy. After being a Young Rider Gold Medalist and a Under 25 Grand Prix Champion in Florida, Anna felt it was time for the then 18-year-old Dutch gelding to step away from international competition. However, she and her self-described “best friend” are back, and this time they are brining additional friends. Many of our regular fans will recognize the name, Michelle Reilly. However, she has not yet attained the star status of some of our local competitors. This FEI rider and trainer from San Diego has consistently placed in the top ribbons in Grand Prix events. Michelle also has an older equestrian partner, her 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood, Umeeko. Both Michelle and Anna are coached by Olympian Guenter Seidel, working out of Wildflower Farm in Encinitas. So, for 2018, they decided to team up, giving their horses a second chapter promoting Dressage and giving Del Mar fans a new Grand Prix Pas de Deux exhibition.
