- In this episode, I discuss what drives value in a comic book and what the most expensive comic books sold for recently. I also talk about how the vast majority of comic books don't have much value and how that's good for the hobby. I take a look at a few comic books in my collection that I consider to be a Comic, Rare And Precious (CRAP) and how I started collecting come books.

Very cool video. Love looking through your Blackhawk comic. I knew a little about Blackhawk but not that much.
Thanks so much!
Great video! I always think about those folks who find those Superman and Detective Comics in their grandmothers attics, perfectly preserved inside of another book.... that's the Dream! I had a huge collection of the classics illustrated years ago - that is a great series in my opinion. LOVED LOVED Jimmy Olson (lol) - I forgot about Black hawk ... great flip through!
Classics Illustrated are great comic books! I think they were the one universal series that was popular for all ages from the 1940s to the 1960s.
@@raph-retro-comics very true!! I am now curious if they ever printed an omnibus?! I’d buy that.
I've bid on a few golden age Blackhawks recently (thanks to you) in 5.5 - 6.5 range and I lost all of them. They each sold in the $650 to $900 range which was much more than I was anticipating. The older early issues are a lot more desirable than you're giving them credit for.
Yes, the Golden Age issues can be expensive and they do have great covers and artwork. I was lucky to get a few golden age issues at a pretty good price. Once you get to the Silver Age though, unless they are very high grade, they're pretty cheap.
