I enjoy the nostalgic look in people's faces when they play these games in chronological order and play the dragon engine again after 3-5. It never really mattered to them that 6's combat was quite a bit unrefined compared to K2's, they were just happy to play it again.
This was literally me. I enjoyed the hell out of Kiwami 2 (and K1, but that's not Dragon Engine), and by the time I got halfway through 5, I was more than ready to move on to 6!
You’re definitely right about K2’s popularity - and I think that’s mainly because of the PC release? People loved 0, and just played K1 and K2, but K2 kinda stood out for being the different one of the three, at least it did for me. I love 0 more, but K2 certainly had its time in the spotlight. Man, playing that game at high frame rates is comical though. I love that running kick attack you can do on enemies on the floor and they just go FLYING when you’re playing above like 140-150fps
One thing to mention, not only did a weapon transfer from fight to fight in Yakuza 2, you could also open the pause menu and put it away while holding it, making it yours forever. Not every weapon, only those that can be bought or won
I was a PC player who started with 0, when I played this I had no clue why people seemed to hate the dragon engine combat. When I eventually got to 6 I understood (even though its still fun hehe ragdoll go zoooom)
I really enjoyed k2 when playing the series chronologically (0-6) and the only real issue I had with it was the difficulty which was too easy and unchallenging (especially ryuji conpared to man in black for example) and heat actions did too much damage (~1.5 health bars).
Kiwami 2 made Sotenbori my favourite location in the series, it looks absolutely beautiful in the Dragon engine. Kiwami 2 was also the first yakuza game I bought on Steam solely for the purpose of mods. Mods like Style Switching, Expanded Moveset, K2 Files, and of course the recent Silly mod not only gave me a lot of replayabilty for one of my least favourite yakuza games, but also demonstrated the amazing talent of the yakuza modding community.
Kiwami 2 is also still popular due to mods. The recent Silly Mod is already at the 1st page of most downloaded mods for K2, even tho it's only been out for about a month. Other mods like the countless style change mods and the #1 most downloaded, Style Swticher mod, that also adds Majima's styles into the game helped give it more replayability on PC in a way you'd only see later done in Lost Judgment, really.

honestly kiwami 2 is in my opinion is the second worst yakuza game. the story was not good, i really did not like the omi alliance at all i felt that the jingweon was way better in every way. ryuji was supper underwhelming in every aspect to me and the other omi officers felt just completely useless. the combat also feels worse then in 6 in my opinion.

As many people do love the game it does have its many problems and should not be overlooked.
Still the best game in the series with Dragon Engine, Lost Judgement comes not that far behind.
K2 is actually probably the Yakuza I look the most fondly on. It’s the best Dragon Engine Kiryu game imo, and I feel it done everything right-albeit it everything it did being rather small. All-round solid game that still sticks with me today.
Looking forward to Judgment(by that, I mean the XCX end card). Do not fail me, my Angry Snow Man) Lmfao, love you mate, looking forward to the next 🫡
Second worst game, but hey, still better than Ishin Kiwami
no
Turn down your FOV.
Yakuza 2 fans and Kiwami 2 fans arguing which shitty game is the shittiest.
I really dont like the combat on this game.
I didn't like how kiryu and enemies fall likes they're blender ahhhh characters
No lol
Kiwami 2 is mid imo.
No, Kiwami 2 is a bad game. This game is a usual disbalance itself. Kiryu can become very strong and it will be so boring due to that
You can say that about EVERY FUCKING YAKUZA GAME!
@WarHelmetCombine no. Yakuza 6 is the most balance game
P r o m o s m 💋
honestly kiwami 2 is in my opinion is the second worst yakuza game. the story was not good, i really did not like the omi alliance at all i felt that the jingweon was way better in every way. ryuji was supper underwhelming in every aspect to me and the other omi officers felt just completely useless. the combat also feels worse then in 6 in my opinion.
Yeah I’m currently going through Yakuza in story chronically and man oh man, the gameplay from Kiwani 2 and 3 physically hurt me that I had to skip to 4 instead smh
Bro this ain't even valid, this just seems like an overreaction 😂💀
Dumbest move ever
Skill issue
play 3, your missing out on some amazing levels, some of the best bosses in the series and a great part of Kiryu's character arc. Just set it to an easier difficulty and learn the games combat.
