Those Ninjas are fantastic for making paper pulp! I bought mine about a year ago. I fill it with paper and hot water and let it soak for a while. Then chop everything up to a pulp. Ring the water out using an old t-shirt. Then put the dry pulp back in the ninja for a final chop. You end up with a parmigiana like texture.

I needed paper mache to make six semi-frightening severed heads for the opera "Turandot". I decided on your flour-less clay and the first batch worked beautifully. I started with styrofoam heads from store displays, primed them with acrylic-latex primer for hardening and adherence. I used crumpled tin-foil and double sided tape to add bulk where needed, putty to cover and adjust shapes and textures. This worked beautifully, although the surface was a bit lumpy. That was fine since these heads are supposed to be partly decomposed! For my second batch, I discovered something serendipitously. After soaking and macerating the toilet-paper with my $12 mixer, I had it draining in a strainer in the kitchen sink. Meanwhile, I was washing the mixing bowl with dishwashing detergent which accidentally went into the strainer and created some suds. Suddenly the lumpy wet toilet paper became smooth!!! I rinsed it thoroughly to get rid of the soap and then wringed it out (wrang? wrung?). This time, my wet 28 g of TP was only 88 g. The previous batch was 130g when wrung out. Yes, that's the traditional way to make paper pulp, and many people really like using it. There's a lot of paper mache artists on www.papiermache.co.uk/ who use it for their sculptures, and they have a lot of tutorials.
I do the same, but with some paper towels or copier paper for a bit more strength. Acrylic paint can stand in for glue, mod podge, or joint compound, and adds color, if you like . You can also make your own sheets of paper and add stuff like petals, glitter, seeds, and so on. Just omit most or all of the glue.
I do a lot of paper clay work and I got a lot of silver fish they love flour , glue and paper . I got rid of them but still see the odd one or two now and again. Thanks for this as I ran out of flour xxxxx
Thank you for this video! I started making fairy houses and the video showed the mixture with flour. I made a beautiful fairy castle but as it dried I started noticing this black looking mess coming out and it was black mold! I had to destroy all that work I did.
One way to avoid that is to put your work in front of a fan so it dries really fast. Mold can't grow without water. But in some locations, getting paper mache to dry fast is really hard if not impossible. I hope this recipe helps with your next project. Let us know!

Godzilla of any size would be a lot of fun to make - and it would be a great present. I start every animal sculpture with a pattern inside to set the outline, and you can do that with a drawing of Godzilla. Draw it on cardboard, cut it out, and fill out the rounded shapes with crumpled foil for a little one, or crumpled paper and masking tape for a giant Godzilla. The cover it with paper mache. Have fun!

Bought a cheap chopper and I’m going to test this out this summer and try to finish my deer head I started ages ago. Head more like that of a reindeer or caribou
Very interesting I would like to try this as I’ve never done it before but I’m curious how do you build the basic form of the animal before you can apply he clay
Very interesting, I muast try this. Paper made for camping/caravan type toilets will break down more easily - there is less of the chemical added to make it stronger, but it is a little more expensive. You can also buy cellulose fibre which is sold as an additive to epoxy/polyester resins to form a putty and is already in the form that you end up with after you have used your electric chopper, but dry. I found that pottery material suppliers stock it. At £7/kilo it is probably cheaper than toilet paper. Hpoe that helps.
The cellulose idea sounds interesting. I once tried cellulose insulation, and it didn't work because they add something that made it get lumpy and rubbery when combined with the glue. But the type used by potters might not have that problem. I'll check it out. Thanks!

I had a roommate years ago who I did not know was doing crack while I was at work and I came home one night and she had let her drug addled friends in the house and they tore him up..I was livid and looked like mommy dearest on crack after that so I threw her out and I had put him in the basement then never took him when I moved. He was so neat..same size as a new born giraffe and I would put him in my picture window with a hanging viney plant then loosely tie a piece of the plant in his mouth with fishing line...I really miss him. I worked on him for 8 1/2 straight hours until I was finished and offered over 500.00 for him.
@@deby7821 You must make another one! Your new one would be as wonderful as the first one - even better, in fact. When you have it done, be sure to let us see how it turns out. :)
@@UltimatePaperMache In my current small house condition maybe I could construct a smaller version..I have babies I rescue now and the space is much needed..I sincerely cheer you on with your art. Amazing, Happy New Year!!!
Wow!!! Youre such lovely lady, i dont think i got your talent but i love and admire your patience💓💓
Thanks!
Congratulations you have an amszing talent
Gosh - thanks!
Phantom no, my name is Lizbeth i'm from México
ma'am you are really an inspiration to budding artists like me. thank you so much for sharing this awesome paper mache clay ideas.
Most welcome 😊
Your work is amazing!
Thank you!! I have a question if that is ok. I used to do pottery, but I enjoyed the handwork the most. I covered baloons with very thinstrips of clay, and use a knive to smooth it the clay. It came out very thin and light. I was wondering how the papermashe would work with the glue in there. I used to love making masks. So you can imagine how excited I was to learn this recipe!! Thank you again.
I'm blown away by the quality of your work! Fantastic! I see there is a new video about a recipe of yours so I'm going to check that out now.
Let us know if you like the new one. :)
@@UltimatePaperMache to be honest, I'm intimidated by working with flour so I think I would prefer the recipe of this video right here but indeed like you said in the new video, will I be able to get my hands on the right kind of joint stuff and glue. Fluor I have in the cabinet, that's no problem. I haven't tried any paper mache since I was a small child but I love the options it offers and would love to do loads with it :D Again, your work is phenomenal and very inspirational! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and craft.
I love that lion in the background. i love it!
Thanks, Frank. If you want to make one, you can find the pattern here: www.ultimatepapermache.com/lion-mask
I LOVE the rabbit you made but I would ADORE to see a turtle. Maybe a tutorial on how you sculpt it
Hi Samantha. I did make a video about making a turtle, but it was one of those "experimental," "figure things out as you go" videos, so I don't know how much it will help. Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/hrNSCNr2S5Q/w-d-xo.html
This was in my recommended and i can't say i'm complaining. Really good video!
Thanks!
Cool and experienced as heaven
Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing ... you change lives with art ❤️
Thank you so much! That's kind of you to say. 😀
You are so talented!
I'm glad you put out these videos, I'm going to go out and make something now 😀
Have fun! 😊
Wow this is incredible I’ve never seen anything like it this is amazing I love it so beautiful I wished I could do this I love all the animals on your wall wow you’re at true artist 💕💕💕💕
Thanks - and you can make any of the animals on my channel. That's what the videos are for, after all. Go ahead and try it, and you'll be very happy with the result, I'm sure. :)
OMG! That's the best recipe for my project.
Hope you like it! Let us know how your project turned out. 😀
Love your work you make it look so easy
Thank you very much! I just found you and truly enjoy your videos.
Keep up the great work!!! :)
your channel is so cool, im so glad i found it. i never realized the potential of paper mache!
😊
Wow! Came across this as a recommendation. You are incredibly talented. Beautiful work!
Thanks!
What about shredded paper pulped in a blender, drained, and wallpaper paste? It seemed to work when I tried it.
Kathy B.
This is the way we use it all the time, from back in kindergarten at school
Yes, that's the traditional way to make paper pulp, and many people really like using it. There's a lot of paper mache artists on www.papiermache.co.uk/ who use it for their sculptures, and they have a lot of tutorials.
I do the same, but with some paper towels or copier paper for a bit more strength. Acrylic paint can stand in for glue, mod podge, or joint compound, and adds color, if you like . You can also make your own sheets of paper and add stuff like petals, glitter, seeds, and so on. Just omit most or all of the glue.
Cotton linters, either in sheets or crumbled in bags might be a lot cheaper than TP. They can usually be purchased at bigger art supply stores.
That was very informative and nicely explained. Thank you for sharing this with us.
You're welcome. :)
I do a lot of paper clay work and I got a lot of silver fish they love flour , glue and paper . I got rid of them but still see the odd one or two now and again. Thanks for this as I ran out of flour xxxxx
I hope the bugs don't like the taste of this recipe! 😀
Love your work. Fabulous maam
I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your easy going artistic attitude that I’ve missed so much from my prior art teachers! I graduated from Art and Design in Illustration and Advertising. You are very professional explaining your technique and the step by step you provide us! I’d like to make a small to medium Godzilla as a Christmas present. Any tips?! Thx again! Love it love it love it!!!
Have fun!
@@UltimatePaperMache Thank you so much for getting back to me! You’re so popular that I thought you wouldn’t have time to answer me! Quick question?! I really like how your animals turned out with wet toilet paper. Can I do that too?
@@UltimatePaperMache Oh! The size I’m planning for is the size of your dragon.
@@lauviahhound6365 I'm not sure which ones you're referring to. I can't remember just using wet toilet paper by itself, but maybe I did and just forgot?
@@UltimatePaperMache Hello there! Thx for responding to me! You used toilet paper in the original paper clay recipe. Can I use it doing Godzilla? Sorry to be a bother! Enjoy ur week!
Thank you for posting! You are so incredibly talented! Subscribed!
So cool, thrilled to meet you and see this in my feed! I can’t wait to try it out and find your tutorial on that lion!
So far my fave recipe is PVA glue+laundry detergent+ shaving foam+toilet tissue pulp, will look forward to trying out yours though as well though.
I've never heard of that recipe. Did you make it up, or did you find it online?
@@UltimatePaperMache I um "experiment" a lot (make a mess)😉 happened to have some "slime" around and was bulking up some "sloppy paper clay" the results were quite surprising and took detail quite well. (Has to be the right detergent not all work)
Your skills give beautiful results, you are wonderful!
Really loving your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your years of knowledge
Back in the fifties my neighbor and Den Mother in Boy Scouts made her paper mache in an old wringer washing machine. She used news papers and other paper. I don’t know her recipe but she used it for all kinds of projects.
She must have made a lot of paper mache sculptures! What a great Den Mother. :)
@@UltimatePaperMache she was a great den mother and friend. She’s gone to Heaven now. We did all kinds of paper mache crafts.
You are lovely. Great teacher too.
Thanks.
I am absolutely thrilled with your video, so much so that
I must share wíth everyone!
Plz accept my gratitude ip
Gosh - thanks for sharing! That really means a lot to me.
Pooh jonni, that giraffe is beautiful!
Thanks! I just now got him painted, and I'm working on the instructions now. He really turned out nice. I'll have the pattern available sometime next week.
Fabulous idea💕💕💕
I liked all the ideas. Great work!
If you add some drops of clove essential oil it's suppose to repel insects and mold. Thank you for the nice videos.
Great tip!
Just come across your youtube video. Havent done paper machete in years..only done it with newspaper and flour/ water mixture. Cool!
LOVE all your animals !! (i see in this video) JUST might do some paper machete now...-wasn't even in my plan or even a thought for today till i watched your video. {...funny how plans change...}
I hope you try making some sculptures - I think you'll enjoy it. Have fun!
Bought a cheap chopper and I’m going to test this out this summer and try to finish my deer head I started ages ago. Head more like that of a reindeer or caribou
30 seconds in and already subscribed haha. I tried this and it worked really good, have a nice day ❤️
Awesome! Thank you!
I love to do craft 🤗🤗 thanks dear 🤗
Very interesting I would like to try this as I’ve never done it before but I’m curious how do you build the basic form of the animal before you can apply he clay
You can buy bags of dry joint compound. You can use this powder to absorb the excess water instead of flour.
Have you tried that? The dry joint compound contains plaster of Paris. And with the recipe in this particular video, there is no excess water.
Thell your for vídeo um front colombiana..amo eu trabalho excelente te achar..me mandaria escrito -los materiales.muchas GRASIAS amo a usted
😀
This is exactly what I was looking for. Regards from Poland :)
Thanks!
Thanks a lot, this is my new discovery
You could get the mixer and blender at goodwill or a yard sale. Thanks. So cool.
Hola me encanta los trabajos que realizas rendiciones soy de Costa Rica e buscado x todos lados pegamento (o) cola trasparente y no se consigue puedo usar pegamento blanco????
Yes, white glue should work. Sí, el pegamento blanco debería funcionar.
liquid nails i use like this ..its ready to go smooth with water
I had no idea! I'll have to try that. Thanks.
Thank you, young lady! I can’t wait to try it! I have a large dragon armature waiting for clay. I’ve waited because I’ve been searching around for the right recipe to use...your recipe sounds the best so far! Fun! I’ve dabbled with lots of different types of media for my artwork pieces, this clay recipe would be ideal to try out on my dragon 👍 I will let ya know how it goes...🙂
You're so sweet to call me a young lady. :) Good luck with your dragon!
Beautiful !!! Excellent job 🦁🦁
I love it. There can be no more mold!!!!

I always despised paper clay for a range of reasons. I might try this though!
