Woodford DO @ 37 is a good deal but not a great find. That bottle is really findable for 50. The EHT single barrel is impossible to find. That was, by far, the best score. It isn't even close.
If you walked into a store and they had the EHT for 75 and Woodford fir 37 and you could only buy one, which are you buying? It has to be the EHT.
I here what you are saying but at that moment the woodford is somehow less than wholesale price. In my opinion best “find” for the day. EH Taylor single barrel is a great haul tho
Yup...for how allocated it is, and if you actually find it somewhere it's almost never going to be at MSRP. Hell, I've never even seen the small batch at $75

Not really better than the Small Batch though. Secondary prices really don't mean anything unless you are willing to pay them. It's far easier to find EHT SiB for MSRP than it is to find a bottle listed for less than retailer cost. That retailer paid around $45 for that bottle of DO and sold it for less than costs. That's a bargain.
@@apeekintime Yeah there is something to be said for the shelfer find certainly, I got 5 garrison bros all for under 40 bucks and KO St Pats for 40 so there is merits to it. A while back HH 7yr BiB was at costco 36.99 some places

I feel like people got salty and didnt want the dude to go home with both the EHT Single Barrel and the Stagg. Woodford Double Oak is a regular everyday shelfer, sure he got a great price but I guarantee more people would be excited about the EHT SiB at $75 than the Double Oak at $37.

I have to disagree. Woodford DO is a shelf item, the fact that it sat there long enough that is got discounted shouldn't matter that much. The SiB Taylor is special because you cannot find it at MSRP.

Woodford DO is indeed a shelf bottle. Seems to be $50 range in most of the country, $35-$42 in the West Coast (Costco).
For anyone that has had Storyteller, 110 is an instant buy. Snagged a barrel strength Michter’s bourbon this weekend for 115, my best find of 2024 thus far.

That's most places, unless stores don't care. I can get it from Total Wine when they drop for $60 but that's so infrequent. I did see one in Cali for $65 but had already hit my bottle budget and, more importantly, my luggage limit.

Woodfrords DO for $37 is fantastic but still much rather have EHT SiB or the Little Book every time over the DO.
Finding an EHT SiB for msrp in SC was the win by far.
Finding an EHT in SC seems harder than a good deal on a common bottle but what donI know I don’t live there 😂
Its just wild how different people think! I was put in a tough spot to chose the winner and my gut was telling me this guy getting the bottle for 1/2 of retail just made sense
@@Bourbon_Hunter it was a hell of a deal. We just choose differently. No wrong answer as both were solid and it’s subjective. I just would have gone with a hard to find solid bottle.
Woodfords DO is a good pour but Crittenden DO is , for me, the best standard level DO and it cost less and is 118 proof so the flavor is amazing. Also Woodford is $60 around me but not impossible to find for under $50. So I went with good deal and which would you rather walk out of the store with

The find was the EHT. It was MSRP, but come on, do you ever see it on a shelf for less than $200? While the WDO guy saved $15 on shelf-er.

It was a tough decision. What I was thinking about is yeah EH Single Barrel is hard to find but that was MSRP. How often do you find a bottle for pretty much half of wholesale? I found that more impressive then buying $200 worth of other stuff so the store owner offers you a bottle for MSRP

The two don't compare, yes the double oak had to be sold at the wrong the price. The EH taylor for msrp is a steal and such a better taste, just my opinion. Keep up the good work!

I got really lucky (well, my buddy did). He found an EH Taylor small batch for $54 for me. Single Barrel for $75 is amazing. I would love to find a Peerless DO.

Easier to do if you buy $200 of other product on top of it. Some doors open themselves thats why I picked the woodford because it had no strings attached! To each their own
Yeah, but you said at the beginning of the video "The Best Bourbon at the Best Price." Was there a rule that you couldn't bundle, use rewards points, etc? Why should that dude get punished for spending a lil more $ for other bottles? Woodford DO is not bad, but it still wouldn't be the "Best Bourbon" over EHT SiB. All debating aside, I liked the Bourbon Hunting challenge, good concept.

Who the fuck thought someone finding Woodford DO is a better score then EhT SiB for 75. Who gives a fuck if the DO was on sale. My guy got totally robbed
My thought was he has to buy $200 worth of other product to even have a chance at getting the stuff under the counter. Vs the other guy that walked in and scored a bottle less than what its sold for. It was a tough decision for sure 🥃
Crazy to see that people charge $59 for a heaven hill bottled in bond when im selling it for $51 at a significantly smaller store. Sazerac Rye should never be $39.

EHT single barrel is a $160 secondary. Woodford DO is an ok bottle nothing crazy. It has no secondary it’s sitting on every shelf from $50-60. Makes no sense why EHT single lost.

IMO Great bourbon at a low price your winning pick was perfect. Could have gone either way with an allocated that was close (but above) MSRP. I travel all over SC, GA and FL and shop just like that looking for great prices, not names. Love your channel as you point me to good stores… or at least ones to avoid that have crazy prices. Nice format and I 100% agree with the winner. Look, EHT single barrel is hard to find but it's not that great. Most people who hype it up are people who over paid to obtain it or people who never had it. EHT is just MEH. To me, it's one of the worst BIB products on the market, even at MSRP, and it is easily one of the worst products released by Sazerac. It's on par with Blanton's and only beats out Weller SR. I'd drink ANYTHING else over it. The single barrel can be better, but I've also had multiple that were WORSE than small batch.
On the otherhand... EHT Barrel Proof and Blantons STFB are two of the best regular releases from Sazerac - Oddly enough. The best regular release in the EHT lineup is the Straight Rye, and it's not close.
Woodford Double Oaked is consistently good. It's one of the best DO products on the market - at $50 (what it costs in my area) it's one of the best bargains in bourbon. At $38 it's a steal.
