This instr is GOLDEN. Been watching, analyzing Norm Duke's complete mastery of the mystery of bowling for yrs. He seems to be completely fluid and his mechanics are absolutely "ergonomic"; simple ,elegant, rational ,and beautiful. Like watching an aikido master. Thank you Master Norm !! (bows slightly from waist)
great vid! Someone tell that kid that the arm swing can stop at any time after the follow thru. He really doesn't need to keep it swinging when he walks back to Duke! (1:54)
Another great lesson, Norm! (There are always mean-spirited people who will extract content from good lessons and then place negative comments, but I'm sure as a successful teacher you are not affected by the 'tall poppy' syndrome).
At the end , Norm says to push ball left in front of left leg and step right with right leg. I thought he said that the steps should be on a "tightrope" with one foot in front of the other and going faster with each step ( athletic finish ). Nice lesson ! Thanks , LA Guy
AH HA! I think I figured out why I tend to pull my swing behind my back a little causing it to wrap around my waist on the forward swing. If I released slightly too early, shoots way right, slightly late it gets pulled way too far left. The path my feet walked kept them next to each other the whole way rather than one in front of the other. I couldn't push the ball out in front of my right leg because it was in the way! I had to pull it around my waist resulting in that inconsistent swing!
all i know is i watched this vid and Voss's and between the two i 've gone from 191 to 214(with a lot of practice of course).......what got eliminated was a bunch of variables in my mechanincs...i haven't had any BIG games yet, but the consistency..whoa!...i'm sure i'll hit a big series one of these nights
of course i ask around, but everyone i asked has had a different story to tell and they sure weren't Norm Duke...there's a bowler up here who has a 234 average who does everything "wrong" according to Norm here....i've had only a few 700 series so far.this is my second year up from 191 last year to 198 this year, but some of these "tips" have screwed me up with having me think too much while i'm rolling actual games/2 guys on my team are 220 avg. and i'm learning a lot from them as well
Norm is a legend in bowling, so every little thing he does has to be in order. The goal of bowling is to make one shot look just like the next, if you have a totally different set up for each shot then you won’t be consistent with every shot. Also, incorporating these techniques into your muscle memory takes hours upon hours of practice.

Norm Duke: now I’m going to put my finger on your ball..
Student: *cheesing uncontrollably”
When he said "You're doing something completely out of the ordinary", I was hoping he was going to say "out of the norm"
