Ionic and covalent bonds are two fundamental types of chemical bonds that hold atoms together to form molecules.
1. Ionic Bonds:
- Ionic bonds form between atoms when there is a large difference in electronegativity, typically between a metal and a non-metal.
- In an ionic bond, one atom essentially donates an electron (or electrons) to another atom, resulting in the formation of positively charged ions (cations) and negatively charged ions (anions).
- These oppositely charged ions are then attracted to each other due to electrostatic forces, forming an ionic compound.
- Example: Sodium chloride (NaCl), where sodium (Na) donates an electron to chlorine (Cl), resulting in the formation of Na⁺ and Cl⁻ ions, which are attracted to each other to form the ionic compound sodium chloride.
2. Covalent Bonds:
- Covalent bonds form between atoms when they share one or more pairs of electrons.
- Covalent bonds typically occur between non-metal atoms with similar electronegativities.
- In a covalent bond, each atom contributes one or more electrons to the shared pair, resulting in the formation of a molecule.
- Covalent bonds can be further classified into single, double, or triple bonds based on the number of electron pairs shared between atoms.
- Example: Hydrogen molecule (H₂), where each hydrogen atom shares a pair of electrons, forming a covalent bond and resulting in the stable molecule of hydrogen gas.
In summary, ionic bonds involve the transfer of electrons from one atom to another, resulting in the formation of ions, while covalent bonds involve the sharing of electrons between atoms to achieve a stable electron configuration.

hats off to you sir. this channel deserves more
I understand very well thank you so much
I thank you vary much pls teach us also electronics logic gat basic electronics
You are doing a great job
Sir hydrogen is metal or non metal or metallic
Hydrogen is a non metal as it is a gas
Thank you so much sir this lesson helps a lot
You are an amazing tutor!
Thank you sir❤❤❤❤
Sir carbon and it's compound chapter me kon kon se topic important hai jo class 11th and 12th me help kareegee

Amazing ❤❤❤
Thank you so much
Thank you sir
At 0.25x its creepy the voice is creepy
At 2x I feel comfortable
14th like thank you Sir for making the concept so easy to understand
which rule are the electrons arranged accordingly?
Nice teaching
Thank you so much sir ❤
Sir what about lattice energy/enthalpy
Thanks Sandeep sir
Qn; where does the metallic bond belong, some books are classifying chemical bonds into ionic, covalent and metallic bond
Can you make videos on IGCSE
Eid Mubarak
Sir, already you had posted this topic in a live class
So is ionic and coordinate bond are same?
Good question
wewant for 8th class chemical boning and perodi c classifection ofbelements plz😊
Sir can you explain me about isomerism
How can a electron revolve around two atoms
You look like Mr. Bean😅
You're really funny 😆
Actually he walks like gru from the minions

Astaghfirullah😂
Sir , our teached told us that there is a chemical bond called a metallic bond is it true?
Thx but is there metallic bonding
Please work cordinate covalent bond 🙏
Sir where is the metallic bond?
Sir teach all about chemistry of 10class
