Russel is on a fresh engine this weekend. Hamilton lost an engine in Australia, so he is using a slightly older engine compared to George. This definitely accounts for some of the differences we see in the straight line speed.
It’s probably aero related. The difference is notable at near top speeds which is more dependent on aero setup than the engine. The engine is more related to acceleration.
Mercedes experiment with their setups.this sometimes makes one driver slower like in china where Lewis qualified 18th. Russell definitely has a setup with lower aero
Sky talked about it like it was a minute difference too, while it was only on the small end of the by now regular difference between Russell and Hamilton of 0.25.
The reason george gets the speed out of the corner is because he brakes earlier. Thats why you see hamilton lunge ahead into the corner and Russell lunges ahead out of the corner. Also hamilton is running more downforce.
@@bluedott7956 Nope, that's just basic stuff. You can see Hamilton foot flat just as early on the side by side videos, and pulling ahead on exit, until Russell's car finds a couple of meters gain. Both drivers did very well and with Russell’s car being set up for one lap pace more than race stints (as that is his preferred driving setup) it’s more than expected for him to be just that little bit faster than Lewis Cant wait for the race
Russel was getting quick at the straight even though Hamilton had better exit. I think Hamilton has not been given the mod. Merc-:take mod from Ferrari.
I really hope George learned a thing or two from Lewis about race pace. He's got top one-lap pace but his actual in-race performance leaves much to be desired the majority of the time. It's not where you start that matters it's where you finish and there's no one better to learn that from.
To the LH and GR fans, both are true. GR had a faster car, and he drove LH out. Anyone who saw the telemetry trace could see that GR’s car was faster from the start of the lap and that LH gained all his time in the corners. If you are faster in the slow corners but slower in the fast ones and on the straight, then your teammate than your teammate has a faster setup. LH made mistakes though. He made one in T3 and had to correct the car. He also made one in T13 that caused him to use less throttle than GR.
same car. lh had a bigger wing which helps in slow speed, but doesnt help in high speed because you are flat through those corners, so your arrival speed in your apex speed too. lh was faster at most of the track except the straights. He also lost a lot of time at turn 15, which i think was just confidence. the 1.7 tenths gap was 1 tenth in turn 15 and 0.7 tenths down the straights and turn13 where lh lost his low speed corner advantage.
@@Nondas8552 I thought T13 was where he lacked confidence. His throttle input was much lower than GR’s LH still has a tire or a driving style issue related to this car.
