I always slip the strap button on the drill bit while drilling the hole. That way you can see that the angle is correct as you drill the hole and the button will seat properly on the curved surface. Thanks for the tips - good idea to have the owner choose where it goes.

Great idea with the magnet - better safe than “oops”.

I've been reviewing many strap button installation videos to make certain I do it properly. Your video is the most complete and detailed video I have watched. Thank you.

Robert, I’m embarrassed to say, that in all my years and all the drilling I have done, I have never thought of measuring the screw shaft with calipers! So, not only thanks for the tips on installing a strap button, but thank you for the lifelong screw shaft/calipers tip!

God, I'm glad I watched this. I was going to install it in the upper bout of my guitar. I kept thinking that it being so thin how was it going to hold that screw??? NOW I KNOW! It don't go THERE! Thank you!

I want to put a strap button on my EKO Ranger 6 string but the neck is bolt on and doesn’t look like what other guitars look like. Is it ok to put one on ?

What's the best hammer to use if I can't find my screwdriver?

I been looking at various videos on doing this( I don't want to screw it up) and one fellow suggests to drill at an angle. What say you?

I would locate it on the flatest part of the heel and drill perpendicular.

Do you just eyeball the angle? What about a felt (or other) washer?

Try and keep the hole as square as possible to the heel and use a felt or other type washer.

I'd like to put one on my guitar. I'm a handy guy, but the idea of drilling into a $3000 Martin scares the bejesus out of me!

      You can do it.

You can do it, I did it on a £2600 Wee Lowden. I was a bit apprehensive but this video shows you the correct way and if you follow it! Good luck!

Do you need to drill a second hole/ install a second button at the bottom of the guitar in place of the end pin? Or is the end pin secure enough to hold the other end of the strap?
