We hunt and grow our own. Even make my own cheese- Not everyone has that option but it certainly keeps the grocery bill down. Not great to raise growing kids on rice and beans. Our bodies need more
If you had asked me why I want to stay out of debt, I do the math. Even before I heard of Dave Ramsey, I looked at what financed things really cost. It's an eye opener.
@@the02chevyman Any interest no matter what the amount is, is outright theft. Sad these "debt heads" think they are smart by borrowing money. Pretty sure their bankers home is way nicer than theirs.
I love living debt free for the piece of mind, great sleep, good health..most importantly, having savings for emergencies, retirement, just not broke, scared, anxious, can manage when things increased as we're dealing with now!... annoyed but prepared!...I downsized,, live nice, peaceful, healthy, spiritual, simple, debt free...can't pay cash.. don't need it...I really know a need verses a want.... I live simple, don't keep up with others, love my life!...I'VE learned from PAST mistakes!
Yeah my reason is the same as a caller. I don't want to be in debt and I want to keep as much of my money as possible. Only have the mortgage remaining, and I'm THIS close to paying it off.
Dude, you're a different person. If you've been blessed and this isn't your biggest battle, great. But, Dave just assumes that his callers that ask for help are seriously struggling. What he says about needing a "bigger reason" is completely true for people who've tried everything and failed many times over.
The best way to have and keep motivation is to live with purpose and to keep those long term goals in view. Not just trying to figure it out as you go along.
If you’re ever wondering if you should go back into debt, remember that 8/10 people are living paycheck to paycheck and couldn’t even pay a $500 emergency if it came up.
No this is what the Dave Ramsey show I feel is all about! Or should be all about this helping people get the exciting vision so then they will get themselves up and do what they need to do to get that thing! To move toward that thing closer and closer step-by-step because they’re excited about a vision of the future! Thank you Dave Ramsey show please keep this kind of thing up we need it.
Actually, for me it's hard to get into debt. Every month I 100% pay for all my bills/ debt. I never carry any debt from one month to the next. It's a matter of habit...been doing it since 2008 and sleep like a baby. I don't pay interest to any one...period.
To Dave Ramsey Show, my big reason and desire was to have extra money to help out loved ones that what cause me to get out of debt and stay out of debt. It was big enough strong enough and my willingness to stay with it is long term. Our loved ones will always be there especially in the family I came from it like their children after children being born so to be a great aunt helper to next generation is big. Thank you for another great video.
Just think of all the great things bankers get to enjoy and how you paid for it. If that doesnt get you mad and unwilling to pay for it, Idon't know what will.

I got into debt to pay for car repairs, and then, some personal things, then it was paid, then I got into debt for more car repairs, ugh, and then I took out my student loan and the car repair debt was taken care of and with the job I have now due to school, I won't need to borrow for my car, but I still owe for school. After that, I guess I won't go to school again until I can pay for it, and I'll have to save for a car, and other than that I don't really see me going into debt.
My why is because I was what debt did to my father and our family, now my father is a great man and my role model on how to be a good moral, honest man, because he is those things. But he was so deep in debt that his lenders used the power of government to take away his passport until he paid it back. It was humiliating to him and to my mother. I want to make financial decisions that will honor rather than shame my wife and kids when I have them
WOW! When Dave started saying how this guy should want to be Vanderbilt or Rockefeller to his grandkids, it was an AH HA moment for me. THAT’S what made me gazelle intense in getting out of debt and building wealth I just didn’t realize it until Dave said it. GREAT CALL!!!
He and all these real estate people either avoid too many poor people or throw them out when they can not pay over time. I too have never meet a for profit business person who was trying to run a charity or a nonprofit!!!
It helps to imagine yourself eating something other than beans and rice.
Love our rice and beans and we are EDM :)
I don’t like to eat rice and beans. One of the reason I’m out of debt.
Food is life. Health is wealth.
@@Emlyusa you can always ear beans and rice if you don't like rice and beans.

Absolutely! Same here. And that money in interest goes to absolutely nothing. 5k in interest in a car loan could go towards for something else.

I just have to remember the days when I could barely make it to the end of the month. That is scary and motivating enough 😬
I found that I lose sleep when I am debt. So if I want better sleep, I stay out of debt.

You know what's more fun than "buying stuff " and keeping up with your neighbors. Saving your money and semi retire in your 40s but that's just me 🤷

It’s easy to stay out of debt. Think about your out of control boss and imagine being able to walk away if needed.
Not everyone has an out of control boss. If that's the case get another job. That's not a real "WHY"

Why not become the bank then? Someone is almost always paying it is not always going to be you!!!
Ive naturally just been motivated not to have debt before but mortgage....now that I have no mortgage I'm never going back.
If you can't find the reason for motivating yourself, noone can do it for you.

The only thing I would add is this when you are doing this, listen to Rocky Eye Of The Tiger.
Quit spending more then you make and get off of the soy.

What do you mean to "get off the soy"? Do you mean some kind of addictive thing?
What a silly question in general. How do I get/become motivated for XYZ? You either are or you aren't.
