This captivating documentary segment delves into the world of pimping in the United States during the Early 80s era. This thought-provoking film showcases exclusive interviews with the notorious American pimp, "HAROLD," and his hoes, Alice, Lori, and Karen. It not only provides an in-depth exploration of the pimping lifestyle but also sheds light on how the lifestyles of pimps and street walkers intertwine. Furthermore, this compelling film highlights the inherent dangers of pimping, as tragically demonstrated by the murder of “ Alice Franklin” , one of Harold’s Streetwalkers , towards the end of the same year.
IT'S so fucked up that woman dedicated her life to Harold and gave him $ & her soul the day moment she got killed in the line of duty bro says he doesn't have time are want the responsibilities of raising her son, that's some 🥶 shit jack😢
Harold ain't sh!t.
I think its reasonable, he knew he wasnt shit
@bella24717 you're right. He knew he didn't need to try to raise that child.
Well he is a pimp. That’s about what I’d expect out of him.
That’s sad but anyway fellas, if you’re going to pimp, make sure it’s strictly white women. You only need two, and you can make $500k in a year, and do something else.
Being a Pimp is one of the most dishonorable and unmanly ways to make money.

No what’s really sad is all the prostitutes that are on the unidentified list of murders in the 80s. Ran away from home and got killed prostituting and to this day their family doesn’t know they’re gone. 😢
Not just 80s… long before and long after.. there’s still red light districts everywhere. In Europe many places prostitution is legalized. Which makes it a regulated industry with safety checks and all. I don’t think anything is wrong with the oldest profession out there but it’s how our society looks at it. I mean it says a lot about a country that tries to control females anatomy but can’t fund proper healthcare or child care or education or anything else for that matter. I definitely don’t have high hopes for future.
never ending cycle 🔄
They ran away from home for a reason usually cuz they were being abused at home.

Turnover!! That's what he called her death. Turnover. Child with no parents and a woman dead. Shows the pure callousness of Harold.
God gonna get him
And what about the other girl who said she'd still do it? You blaming the wrong one. Her family is the callous ones.
How is Harold the pimp any different than any other CEO in business?
Harold was pretty cold for sure but those girls knew what they were getting . They knew who and what Harold was and they liked him. Women often like the worst sorts of men and they often pay a huge price for that. He described her death as "Turnover" because to him that is all it was. He didn't care about anything other than his inconvenience having to get another girl to fill the void.

Let this be a reminder of how sexual abuse directly affects the victim's self-worth, views on sex/intimacy, the standards they hold their partners to... It affects every facet of their lives forever & should be punished accordingly.
Agreed. There is likely a cycle of generational poverty and abuse. My own mother was a victim of child molestation. She wound up with my dad who was a domestic abuser. She had more resources than these women and wound up legally married eventually but it affected her children. I often think how lucky my mom was but still unlucky because it took her 25 years to leave my dad. It absolutely did color her whole life and self worth.
Also, how it affects males. It's obvious that men who are able to be a "pimp" had some kind of traumatic childhood themselves. It's not normal to be able to silence emotions when something happens to someone, or to willingly put them into harms way. It's not normal to be around children and put their mother's in the position to be harmed. Definitely not normal to see a person's death as "turnover" smh. I guess the old saying is true "hurt people, hurt people. "
It's not just sexual abuse. A child that is emotionally abused also has no self-trust, self-love and self-worth. A Hamburg study underlines that 83% of the prostitutes surveyed had trauma experiences in early childhood, of which 48% were cases of sexual abuse.
Sexual abuse is horrific but not the only or main factor. Just like physical abuse, it's the message of not being worthy of respect, care and love that does the most damage.
@@carmenl163 full circle I attracted a pimp because of my own trauma at the hands of my father and I was not sexually abused. I was emotionally and psychologically abused and developed PTSD.

Such a beautiful little boy, I hope he was properly looked after and loved with a good family, this is so sad.😪
The sad truth is he was probably sent to foster family's that were in it for a check. Then went the group home to juvie to prison pipeline.
there’s a 50/50 chance that he ended up in good hands.
I watch a lot of documentaries and a lot of them are sad but this one is really gut wrenching! This one will stick with me! That sweet beautiful boy loosing his mom and being left in the care of this pimp and prostitutes. It’s one of the most heart breaking things I’ve ever seen!
Was I the only one who heard that woman say she was raped by her Father? That alone would send a person into the streets. So sad she had no chance from the start.
Trauma is the foundation for self perpetuating trauma.
Straight into the fire when she met Harold.! 😮
It's terrible that her father did that but if you're strong, have support, but understand what's right and wrong, there's NOTHING that should send anyone to a life like this or any other illegal activity. " And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil." 🙈 🙉 🙊

My siblings and I were raised in the game. We all had different moms, except for my little sisters, those two have the same mom. My dad had custody of all his kids though. My mom was married to my dad, she was in the game long before she met him. They met in the early 70s when my mom was locked up in a detention center where my dad was a janitor. Some years after she left my dad she was hooked up with some other pimp and one of his girls murdered his baby's mom and six months later she murdered my mom. It was February 1987. I was 10, my mom was 29. I'm 47 now and I really don't remember her anymore. I can remember parts of situations but not her. I don't remember a time that I lived with her. My dad was the type that let his girls leave but they couldn't take his kids. My mom was lost in addiction and didn't visit much. My little brother's mom visited more often and she gave me some pictures of my mom. I was a daddy's girl, I loved him dearly. My oldest and youngest brothers never did anything with their lives, but the rest of us all went to college and/or served in the military. We ran circus circus unsupervised as kids lol. It was a different time. I had a great childhood. It's not always all bad.
Thank you. We need to hear from people with experience. My godfather was a pimp and he did for me than any other adult. He was a gentleman and a scholar. He spoke five languages and pimped on an international level. All the women wanted to be with him and the men wanted to learn from him. I was blessed to have him in my life.
I'm so sorry to hear you lost your mom like that.

I was sharing my experience growing up cause everyone's talking about what horrible lives the kids must have. I definitely had my share of troubles, but I have happy memories of my childhood. My stepmother was a square, and after she married my dad she didn't allow us to be exposed to too much. But the game was different back then and it wasn't what alot of people thought it was.
@arfriedman4577 thank you. I'm sad for her since she never really had a chance to live but I do it for her and I think that she would be proud. I loved her, even if no one else did.

I remember watching this documentary when it first aired on HBO many years ago. Thank you for uploading this.
I'm from South Dallas. And I was 20 years old, living in Dallas at the time of this documentary. But I'd left Dallas in 1985, moving to Boston; New York City; Stockholm, Sweden and finally, Copenhagen, Denmark; which is where I'm currently living. I got to say that there is something fundamentally wrong with this union. And I'm not even talking about the prostitution in itself. It's just this imprisonment of perpetual deception, under the guise of "being a family." It's really sick! And what makes it really interesting is that the pimp doesn't seem to be so overtly abusive with his stable, as an average pimp is expected to be. Now, I don't know if say that it's better, or it's creepy. By the way, prostitution is perfectly legal in Denmark. Prostitutes even pay taxes. But pimps are illegal. I think that's fair and reasonable, being that I deem that prostitution is one of the plethora of results of sexism, to begin with. I wonder whatever became of everyone in this documentary. The children, the sex workers and the pimp. I hope that wherever they are, they are all doing good and are happy., leaving that life behind. I'd like to think so anyway.
I used to get mad when people would say men should stay in their daughters lives.
I lost my father at 3. I am perpetually at a disadvantage. There is an aspect of sense of self that comes from having a father figure.
It is sooooo easy to get caught up in this if the gap in you is big enough.
That said many many women are being pimped in their marriages thinking they are safe but they are essentially building everything for the "family" at her own expense. Soon as the kids grow up the man is gone.
Staying with a guy building up a business etc then you get divorced.
What I am saying it its not always so obvious. It's everywhere though. Look at Jeff Bezos.... that woman gave up time. Billions can never buy time.
The cruelty is the time lost. It can never be recovered.
You sound like you come out of a place of deep sadness, jealousy, and a bit of bitterness. These so-called women that are losing out on life by spending years raising their own children. It’s their own family. What more do you expect out of life?. My father walked out of my mother while she was pregnant with me. I grew up being abused by a stepfather, and I don’t have a family of my own, but I have no bitterness towards those who do. And to bring up the woman that is with Bezos is out of left field. The woman is living off of a multimillionaire, and you somehow try to make her look like a victim.
@@doe729 that's your perception. I look in horror at some of the marriages. Maybe I touched a nerve.
A small percentage of women actually get the love, support and fulfillment from these pairings.
I know one lady who was happy when her husband died. She raised 5 kids. From the outside, her life looked perfect. Died at 88. She told me herself, her husband was a bastard and she is glad he died.
So it's not jealousy. Once my eyes opened up I watch the married folks a bit closer. Probably 1 in 20 are happy.
I would kill someone if I spent 25 years of my best life to be left at 53 to pick up my life all over again.
Yes I would take the money but it can't give .e back time. What if she died the next day? She would have died a billionaire with a broken heart.
You people will sacrifice your whole beings for money
@@doe729, on the contrary, nothing could be further from the truth than your assessment of me being "sad, jealous and bitter." Can't even imagine how on earth you'd make such an extremely, fallacious conclusion. I'm not sure what defines a "perfect life." The definition can be subjective. But I think one example of a happy life is when one can accept life on life's terms. That's just one of many examples. As for my childhood, in spite of my father dying when I was 3 years old, I was lucky and blessed to grow up in a loving and nurturing family, starting with my beloved mother. I grew up around drugs, sex workers and the hustling culture, in general. I'm from South Dallas, in that area of Bexar Street. I've had many friends who were killed in that neighborhood. In some cases, when I'd hear gunshots, I knew who the gunshots were for. I've had friends of mine, who'd killed other friends of mine. Be that as it may, for these ladies and their children, there' this thing called "empathy." And that's what I feel for these ladies and their children. I've seen first hand what effects this have on children, when they're no longer children, becoming adults. I think if I had to make a choice, to either trust my own experience, or your gross misinterpretation of me being "sad, jealous and bitter", I think I'll go with my own experience and what I'd witnessed down through life. Not here to make any judgement. Just I wish the best for those ladies and their children. That's all that matters to me. End of discussion.
@@triggabun you know what? I'm 60 years old. And while I've lived with a few ladies down through the years, in common law marriage, I've never actually been married. And the older I get, the more I feel that this institution of marriage is highly overrated. I've also discerned that we are systematically forced to marry, just to avoid legal complications and to conform with our chosen religion, if one is religious. But that what you were saying about the 88 year old lady is real. I know it's real! Because of patriarchy, women were socially/systematically coerced to marry. Especially back in the day.

women are a lot less complicated than society made them look like. Its easy to get they mind, and you don't need to drug, slap or force them to do anything. They'll simply do whatever you want if they respect you. Alice was raped by her own father and found some type of love in Harold. Notice how she talks about him cracking jokes. She really feels something for him.
If any of you have daughters, just talk to them, listen and show that you care about them and they'll be fine.
Am I tripping or was she playing Pac-Man with the newborn in her arms crying with his head dangling??
I was looking for this comment . That tripped me out. I’m not judging anyone’s parenting but he was either hungry or tired. That’s normally what they cry for at that stage. Imo I don’t think she was mentally mature enough to handle motherhood. Over there playing games instead of tending to her baby…
And shawty sure was smoking a cig while pregnant 🤦🏾♀️
I had a pimp and I left him. 6 years later he still stalks me. I'm married now... he crossed State lines clear across the Country to get to me.. he is a PSYCHO!
Don’t share this you wouldn’t want your husband to find out about your past
@@Jewel_Screaming_Chango8387 He knows already smh lol 😆 😂 🤣... I don't keep secrets

That's the part that took me aback. Just sitting there on that desk, waiting to be pawned off 😢
@@bosslady1188 ain't that terrible

None of these women like what they do. It's bc they don't see any other ways out and no choices.
Some dont have the drive to leave and be on their own.
you don’t know that you’re just a beta male. you can’t understand how a man could get women to submit to them.
I HATE watching stuff like this. It was erie how she'd he looked at the camera, surely knowing she was doomed, having no desire to do anything else in life. Harold allowed their independence, because he wanted to do very little, besides collect the money. He could have at least made sure they were strapped. Judging by the comments, no one else cried but me. That poor woman had a f-up beginning and an end. I can't imagine the life her son had, if her aunt didn't take him. She'd hoped he would go to college, and make something of himself. I pray that he did.
She was killed on my 3rd birthday! 10/9/83! 😢
It's horrible, and I've never understood why pimping is so glorified. It's the lowest profession a man could have. But I always try to consider people's past that make them who they are now and obviously everyone involved in this documentary had a very rough beginning. I can't comprehend the amount of psychological damage being raped by your own father would have on you. And men prey on these vulnerable women knowing the hell they went through and are praised for it. It's too sad to even think about.
@soft_serve_666 who the heck glorifies pimping-----in real life? In 2024?????
@@kmsleyang1980I was calculating my age too watching this 😞
@@soft_serve_666Even as messed up as American popular culture now is, I did not know pimping was glorified in any way. I have seen a couple of former-pimp interviews and was surprised they dared to show their faces. I was cringing for this guy talking about his lowly behavior so matter of factly in the 80s. You detect an undertone of resignation and acceptance by society as a whole yeah, deeply disturbing. A man who lives off of a woman who trades her very precious self is a male, undeniable, but not a man. Don’t tell me about childhood abuse etc etc, I know a thing or two about that. It’s one thing for the people who do it, it’s another for the ones who live off of others doing this and acting like you’re a benefactor of some sort. Pfft!
You have put up some classic pieces. Love the channel. It's my new favorite. Thanks
2024. How many are still alive? Would love to see a 41 year follow up on what happened to all of them.
How many housewives from 1983 are still alive?? 🤔 silly qustion.
@WeezyJeffersonYo How is it silly Weakly? If these women are in their 20s, they should be in their 70s. So based on your dumb statement, all housewives and husband's from 1983 are dead? the ones with men & children are worse
This is sad what happened to Alice 😔

I could never ever understand why get a pimp when the money rightfully belong to the women who worked for the money. All pimps are doing is getting paid and not working. 😢
Sounds like those low life guys living with their "woman". You can find him hugging her from behind in the grocery store as she pays for the food.
The women who allow their kids to be abused in the home are also to blame. They get raped at home and then run away to escape the abuse..then find themselves using their bodies to survive the streets so they can eat..and then use drugs to escape mentally. Its a vicious cycle of trauma.
i ran away from abusive mother was trafficked that night but never been high drunk in life rather die than be near a male like that ever again non-binary a-sexual 😷
Walked in to a food shop one day looked around and realized it was all just chemical's for sale not food. We all get pimped.
I get what you mean, I can hardly eat any of the ‘food’ in the stores and I don’t. I buy a few clean ingredients and cook but it’s a totally different kind of abuse.

Did you have to sell your ass to buy it?
Pretty much in many unsuspecting aspects. We hand our taxes right over to the biggest pimp of all.
Having multiple women got on Harold nerves yet these modern men say they want a polygamist lifestyle 🙄 give me a break!!

Can’t put it all on Harold. Did you really think he was father of the year. You’re manager at your job you work not going to take care of your kids when if you die. The other girls didn’t offer to take the kids either

I felt the same as I observed the typical look of a slave master. Those in attendance at the Berlin conference of 1884. The missionaries that worked for Leopold II as he desecrated the Congo. The 80% murder suicide cases in America, who's commiting these atrocities and why!? The killings of family members for the purpose of insurance money gains! Multiple school shootings across America. Who's commiting these acts...... People who look like the image given to us of a Jesus and his family. All I can think is to say OH GOD!! HOW COULD WE HAVE BEEN SO MISLEAD?? These people are destroying us and here we are worshipping their God at their command. I am however glad to see many of our people waking up to promote positive change in our communities. It took us many years to get in and be forced into this predicament. It will not be a short time or an easy endeavor to get out of. Harold was real pimpin, something these 2024 internet pimps could never be🤣
Allowing your girls to get pregnant by tricks ain’t no Pimpin. Fuck is you talking about?
Yup. No Internet back then & not as many dirty drugs either. People had a different mindset back then & weren't as lazy like people tend to be today. Harold had goals for being in the business he was in.
@@GadsdenHomie1776😂 goals
Well in the Pimp world he failed because all of his women were probably dead. OR they'll eventually would wised up and actually get child support from him. Any man that would use a disadvantaged abused woman is the lowest type of man out there. He did nothing to protect that woman and he could care less about those children. The only good thing is that at least he didn't sell those poor children. At least I hope not. I hope after that poor woman died that it woke a few of them up and they focused on getting their lives together, but unfortunately Harold probably made sure they didn't until they were older. The way he groomed these women and lives off their misery just sickens me. It is definitely a form of slavery, yet he would probably feel entitlled anyway. Men have done this for centuries, and it doesn't appear to be stopping. It shows you how sad things really are. Just a note, that woman's self esteem was so low that she couldn't even pick out her own clothes.
What about the men that raped or abused them in the first place?
Harold’s stable is psychologically unstable.
Damn we need a where are they now episode
