I wish the socially awkward trait made it harder to start conversations instead of making it harder to get along with people. The way it's designed right now seems really annoying. It would be cooler to have most interactions locked until you get to know the sim better.
And not just getting them to hate you with every interaction. Like, it's harder to make friends but that doesn't mean they start to hate you
I'm socially awkward irl. I'm not good with strangers and after a while even my friends tend to hate me. Whether it's because I'm awkward or weird, it really is hard to get along with people. However because of how awkward I am I come off as shy when people first meet me so they don't tend to immediately hate me.
yeah i don't think it should be constant negatives either. I think it just shouldn't go up or down. as an awkward person, I've never had a person hate me just cuz i'm awkward. that just doesn't seem fair

So Ash goes from " Wanna be my girlfriend?" to "let's go to prom as just friends" to "sorry I'm into men" in just a couple minutes. Hope when this pack officially releases, they calm it with the very mixed messages.

Kinda hoping the Sims team is watching because I don't think the attraction, exams and competition systems are supposed to be this inconsistent 😆

@@charliejagusch4620 honestly i’m glad they didn’t because in every mod i have that had periods, i HAVE to turn the feature off because of how annoying it is to have my sim very uncomfortable all of the time, it’s good in theory but annoying when added to gameplay- just my opinion though

I feel like socially awkward is almost as bad as vampire snarling.
i know a lot of people are excited about the trait because they are socially awkward but i think the sims team made it a bit too difficult to gain relationship, since it looks like every single interaction fails

@@kristianawilson9038 not really. You can just feel awkward while socializing, maybe sometimes you can say something stupid, but you don’t fail EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION with EVERY human being. Just sometimes. Maybe 50/50 chance.
@@uwepfaff9226 Yeah I think maybe they could lower the rate interactions fail, but maybe throw in some occassional negative moodlets (like embarrassed or tense) after conversations (even if they go well)
Especially because when socially awkward, some of the most embarrassment is when reflecting.

The socially awkward trait seems like its bugged. I can totally get it being hard and actual fatal to your friendship bar in the early stages, but once you get to good friends, shouldn't it be easy to talk to each other without messing everything up? And the social bunny app SHOULD take into account whether someone is straight, gay, bi, etc. because it's definitely weird that Veronica was able to flirt AND BECOME GIRLFRIENDS with someone who doesn't even like girls, and then get turned down when they are dating?? hmm.
I think Ash's sexuality got bugged too somehow, bc weren't they involved with Molly in the trailer?
I know almost nothing going according to plan is the Sims 4 being the Sims 4, but it's lowkey interesting how Veronica and Henry are good at the things the other person is trying hard at. Henry is naturally smart and doesn't need to study as much and Veronica might find herself able to let loose while doing cheers. It could create an interesting storyline if you take it that far and that's kind of the weird wacky randomness I like about the Sims.
I saw it as Veronica winning to get back at Henry for doing better than her and it's hilarious! 😆

The whole Ash scenario def felt like glitching, but it was so beautifully chaotic in that sims kinda way that made it so entertaining and dramatic 🤣
This is what I'm thinking. If it's glitching, at least it's hilarious.
I think they need to adjust the socially awkward thing where you stop failing all of your social interactions once your relationship is high enough cause this version of things just makes it so impossible
I read that if you get the Sim's Charisma skill up that the social interactions will work, but I don't know as I have not played it yet😆 Edit: I think it might be bugged in her game as it seems to work in James Turner's Play through. Although Reginald and Sydney are good friends, whereas her sim is not high enough friends with anybody.
@@lisamurdock6679 If I remember correctly, he got to that relationship level by taking photographs of Sydney cus that boosts friendship a lot 😅 When they do other interactions it seems to almost always fail
I think it's counting Ash as two seperate relationships, one from the social bunny app and another from real life. bc it seems like social bunny interactions can't "fail" it wildly boosts the relationship levels and triggers events, but the irl relationship is measured like seperately

That actually does make sense as a cause of the bug, but they do need to fix it. You could get a popup like "Vanessa learned that Ash is romantically interested in men" if you try to flirt on social bunny with a sim who isn't attracted to your gender. When they announced the orientations update it sounded like the whole purpose was allow straight, gay and asexual sims to autonomously reject romantic advances. If that doesn't also work on social bunny the feature just creates confusion and doesn't let people represent themselves accurately.
the "Ask to be just friends" interaction, would go over better than "Break up" (the romance level would be empty instead of red and friendship would stay the same)
Yeah but the break up option makes it 10x funnier
It's kind of weird/lame how using that option seems to have no negative consequences, right? Like, if your partner that you're living with, and have lived with for years, suddenly asks to 'just be friends'... you'd be pretty bummed, I think. But sims can do this no matter how close you are, it seems. I think it should only be an option while you're not official partners (gf/bf or married), so you can do this only with people you have as a 'romantic interest' or kind of having a fling with.
That being said, there should be a non-Mean breakup option, but one that will still make both partners Sad for a while afterwards.

"We're Deeply Connected but we have no relationship." Is the only part I think is accurate to teens. How else can you manage to start dating on Friday and breakup before school on Monday?
They need to fix the autonomous prompts if they don't align with a sims orientation. As others have said being social awkward doesn't necessarily mean everyone hates you.
For everyone talking about the socially awkward trait, I think you are suppose to do the Overcome Awkwardness interaction in the mirror to improve social skills. I haven’t seen any TH-camrs do that yet. Maybe Kayla and others can try that when the game releases and see if it helps

I think it's a mistake for the game to have a trait that's only functional if you do one specific interaction that not everyone will notice and know they are supposed to use.

@@countrye3013 Exactly. It’s completely turning me away from the pack as a whole. It seems like it’s completely random and not actually based on the skills and or effort a sim puts into something. I think we can all agree that it makes more sense that the sim who spends more time doing something is going to be better at it.

I think it's so funny how Molly is one of the main characters from the trailer that we're supposed to like/relate to and Kayla already loathes her.
That is actually so funny. It feels like a freaky Friday situation. Those siblings just switched bodies and that is why Henry aced the exams (despite not studying) and Veronica won the cheer-leading competition.
Anyone else think this is a bad sign for running households with multiple teens? Like I wonder if it gave the brother's score to the sister, or if the best friend pop up for Malcolm was supposed to go to the brother.

Idk, there’s never been glitches like that before in the sims and I feel like it would be exactly the same as any other pop up you get. So I don’t think it was switched.
@@awildbayonettastand4601 He only did one day of that, so he wasn't getting many relationship popups. 8 sims also makes it hard to micromanage, so you don't create as many differentiated personalities and relationships where it would be obvious if the game was making a mistake.
I think Kayla's game is a better test of this type of bug than the 8-sim play that James did. Of course Kayla is just one example so it would be better to see if it happens to other people too. I think households of 2 or 3 teens would be the easiest to spot a bug like this, and you would need to be actively controlling them to make their skills and relationships different.
My headcanon is that Ash asked to be girlfriends as in close female friends and Veronica took it the romantic way and it was just a communication error lmao
But the biggest lie is Ash being attracted to only men like LOOK AT THEM! They have SUCH strong bisexual/pansexual energy!!

How Henry aced the test and Veronica got the best cheerleading score was like how my five star celebrity sim didn't get any award in the whole event while her brother, who was supposed to just accompany her, won.

The amount of "relationship confusion" taking place makes this feel VERY realistic to my highschool experience.
Ash really said "hey wanna date? Just as friends though."
Edit, it's okay to change your mind or realize you're attracted to another gender/sex while in a relationship, but if you break up with your partner because you're not attracted to them for that reason, your partner is allowed to be hurt and upset and any feeling resulting is valid
In this situation though it seems Ash already knew they were attracted to men and still dated Veronica which i personally think is rude. They asked her out and an hour later admitted they like guys, seems sus

You know, i think we were all wrong. Veronica might be the cheer leader type with a bubbly yet closed off personality due to her terrible social anxiety. And Henry the fairly social, sometimes closed off, study buddy who really likes technology and wants to be on the COMPUTER TEAM.
This seems incredibly full of bugs, but at the same time this story is rediculously entertaining! 😆
definitely not as bad as my wedding stories because this is still manageable but yes!

Are the sims upset because Kayla is forcing them into doing the wrong thing? Veronica won the cheer contest without practicing, and Henry aced his exams without studying. That’s why they’re both stressed!!

Love how basically every sims youtuber forgets there's an option to "ask to just be friends" instead of breaking up. Then they get confused why the friendship bar is ruined.
That drives me crazy along with the thermostat never adjusted correctly or voting for a juiced community then confused why everyone is dazed.
I hope when the pack comes out, prom comes once a month instead of every weekend. That's not very realistic, no matter how privileged and wealthy a high school is.
maybe the amount of proms could be changed according to the life span of sims? could be the best solution imo
On normal lifespam, a teen is a teen for three in-game weeks so it's like one prom a year, which i think could be reasonable?
I think prom-frequency and exam-frequency should be something players can choose in game settings, with the seasons and the moon phases. It depends a lot on what lifespan you're playing with, but if you're playing with ageing off the game doesn't know when you're planning to age up your sims.
Personally I play on short lifespan a lot so my sims only get one prom even if there’s 3 scheduled so I think that’s to fit lifespans (I dont exactly know the lifespan of normal and long but short lifespan is 6 days)
Hopefully they tweak things a bit. The actual cheerleader who practiced all week sucked at cheerleading but he aced his tests that he barely cracked a book for? The study freak did ok at tests but won the cheerleading competition despite it being the first time she picked up the pom poms? ...... sounds fishy
Idk, it’s kinda realistic I think. Some people are naturally really talented at thing and some people naturally suck at things no matter how hard they try at it. Like I’m naturally good at academics and do pretty well without even studying but I suck at sports. Even when I try really hard and practice a lot, I just can’t get the hang of it.
Omg it’s like a Disney identity crisis episode. The girl is all smart but her brother does better on exams and her brother is all about cheerleading but his sister totally outscores her!

It is normal to have acne. It's just one of those things that happen while growing up. There's two types of acne per se. Adult acne and puberty acne. Trust me, you're gonna want puberty acne lol. It'll go away with time and treatment. What helped me was vitamins and a healthy diet. You can get L-lysine / Omega 3 fish oil / acidophilus and others. I hope this helps if you do have acne (I was guessing so from your comment). God bless ❤️🙏😊
@@g.e131 thank you so much for the advice! i have periodic acne that gets worse when i have a bad diet. it's not nearly as bad as my sisters'. kayla's comment was just so sweet! you don't see it that often.

Plot twist, since Henry aced the exam and Veronica won the cheer competition, their roles of Academic and Athletic are switched haha
Is the orientation system something that can be checked on or off? For me one of the most enjoyable parts of The Sims is the sandbox "do whatever and make any household you want" sort of thing, and not being able to romance a particular Sim because the game gave them an incompatible orientation would really put a wrench in that.
yeah, i actually expected all townies to be bi like before, and that only player-made sims will have different orientations if we choose so. now i’m worried that my lesbian sims will only have a limited number of partners to choose from :(

Personally I think it’s rly smart of the sims team to give our creators early access a month ahead, smart way to see unexpected bugs, since everyone will play their game differently

this is one of the most entertaining lets-plays i've watched in awhile. even just simsie's reactions to it all are so fun- the way she reacts to the twins' experiences kind of reminds me of if she herself was playing their aunt

I'm hoping the pack will work with an existing game sae. The gameplay we have seen was from a new game where all the teen are the same age (days left) I wonder how things will work on a save a few generation old where once you sim get to be a teen ages tend to be all over the place. Hopefully you will not get something like only 4 teen in school at the same time.

going to a lot that's supposed to contain sims of a particular age causes the game to generate those sims. In basegame, lounges are supposed to have lots of elders. If there aren't any elders in my game, and I go to a lounge, the game will immediately generate more elders to be in the lounge. With Cats and Dogs, if I set a lot to be "cat friendly" and then go there, the game will generate cat-owners to be at the lot.
Dating in high school does suck but when your with your high school sweetheart in your first apartment the drama was totally worth it! 7 years strong!

The point is that in addition to being "paid by TH-cam" she should be paid by EA for doing quality assurance. Why make excuses when corporations cheat people out of paychecks they are owed?
@@TheOG-GG I agree it can be confusing that EA isn't paying her, but there are a few reasons for that. First, Kayla isn't doing quality assurance. Finding bugs is part of QA, but once you've found a bug, you then have to be able to reproduce the bug reliably, be able to read source code well enough to determine what might be causing the problem, propose potential solutions to resolve it, and then communicate that information in very technical terms back to the teams who actually have permissions to rewrite the code. Kayla isn't doing any of that; the fact that she found some potential bugs is just coincidental due to how early she received the pack. She's just reviewing the pack as is for feedback purposes (much like how early access games on Steam rely on player feedback to catch bugs their QA teams may have missed, or issues which only present themselves with certain hardware configurations).
Second, because of the fact that she isn't being paid, she's able to provide a genuine review of the material without bias. We've seen this in the past, where she's openly bashed a few packs for being poorly made or being overly buggy (see her reviews of "My Wedding Stories," "Moschino Stuff," and "My First Pet Stuff" for examples). She wouldn't have that freedom if EA was paying her, because she'd have to worry about her income being cut if she gave an unfavorable review. Just as importantly, when she gives positive reviews, the audience is able to trust her recommendation due to the fact that we know she's not being paid to promote content.
Lastly, the partnership between Kayla and EA is one that can't hurt Kayla's reputation, finances, or career, but has every possibility to hurt EA in all of those areas (and occasionally does). They've given her the power to destroy them, more or less, so to pay her on top of that would be illogical and an all-around bad business decision.

HEY KAYLA I HAVE A CHALLENGE! And it has backstory! So you start of with your main sim and one of their relatives does a leaves them 100 k with that 100 k they buy a big nice house online but when she gets to the house she realizes it was a scam and is now stuck in a rundown beat up house with 0 simolians (I think that’s how it’s spelled) so it’s kinda like rags to riches but you have a house, that’s non functional. I thought of this while playing one of those house revamping games
