Also, the car is not that complex · Spaceframe tube structure · Fiberglass cover · GM V8 engine making 800hp (other teams use FORD or Dodge, former WRC driver Armin Schwarz uses a BMW engine) · Automatic 3-speed transmission (some use 4-speed or even 5-speed but all tend to be automatic for the endurance races) · Suspension parts allowing for 90cm of maximum travel · 6 tyres (4+2 spares) · Sat-navigation system · Fuel tank for 450L approximately · Temporary roof lights (the BAJA 1000 is over 1600km long and is non-stop so, yeah, you are gonna have to race through the night. Most teams use temporary lights to avoid the extra weight on the car) · Jacking system to allow a 2-man effort to change tyres And I do not think there is much more than that...

Its called long travel suspension. The more length of rod/piston/cylinder shocks have the bigger impacts it can absorb.
