    Free motion quilting is a big challenge for me. I find I defaulted to doing ruler work most of the time. I try to push myself to try one little thing each time on a different quilt sometimes it looks OK and sometimes not so much.. Thanks for sharing and inspiration. 👍❤️🙂

    Thank you Jeanette . Great demonstration - I found myself holding my breath while watching you. Good tips and I'm going to try FMQ with my next quilt.

    I've found that the key to free motion quilting is practice, practice, practice...and don't be hard on yourself.

    Thank you for sharing this. I am working on FMQ - wish I had a stitch regulator, but I am getting better with practice. I am making a FMQ sampler quilt that I am keeping for myself - sectioned off the quilt and trying different designs in each part. Not worried about perfection - very freeing and lots of fun!!

    Yes well done Jeanette, I wouldn’t want to do that on camera. Funnily, I was holding my iPad and following your stitching, involuntarily! That was just the sort of tutorial I enjoy.

    Wow that looks great. You make it look easy, your stitches are very neat. I had a go at this yesterday on this machine but I really need a pair of grippy gloves. Thanks for another great tutorial.

    I have a walking foot (actually two slightly different ones!) for my Babylock Presto 2 but haven’t used them yet😁🫢. I need to get over being completely scared I’ll make a mistake (my OCD reading its ugly head😲) and then just practicing, practicing, practicing!!! On quilts that a small mistake here or there doesn’t really matter that much! Thank you for this and so many other wonderful videos!!! I really enjoy watching you😀😀😀

    I've also tried free motion on smaller pieces, I'm not patient enough. However, I will try try🇨🇦 try again.

    Thank you so much Jeanette, this may give me the confidence to try out free motion quilting. I am interested to see how you use the pattern template for them too, so if there is any chance you could demo using one of the acrylic templates I keep seeing that would be great. I'm not convinced my brain will allow me to randomly squiggle 😅. Thank you again, really helpful tutorial.

    Thank you Jeanette - you always inspire. Do you ever use ‘rulers’ for ruler work? Would love to know. X

    Loved watching this! I got this machine in March and adore it. I'm not sure about the UK, but the Australian model comes with the Accurate Stitch Regulator (ASR) included. I'm still a bit intimidated by it, but that's a me issue not the machine. Love the dresdens. What machine does Jeanette sew on at home?

    Does the Janome Memory Craft 8200QCP SE Sewing and Quilting Machine have this function?

    • @SewingStudio
      @SewingStudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! No the Janome Memory Craft 8200QCP doesn't have the freemotion settings that the Janome Memory Craft 9480 QCP Professional has, although you can still do freemotion on the 8200QCP by dropping the feed-dogs and using a foot that comes with the machine: www.thesewingstudio.co.uk/products/janome-8200qcp-se-sewing-machine

    It is very hard to see your stitching with white thread on white fabric.

    This is all very nice, though not for me. My little Bernina, which I love, does not have a stitch regulator nor does it have a free motion setting. So, this tutorial is not for me. Thank you for everything you’ve taught me, otherwise.
