I’m in tears watching her mother cry over her because I know her pain. I have been in her shoes before. Last year, I lost my son at 23 years old to murder and that feeling is indescribable. My heart goes out to her mother. The family needs to stick close to her Mom, she is going to need strong hugs to get thru this.

Her mother didn’t want her daughter’s face on social media so they put the flowers over it. Plus remember she suffered trauma and was in the water so there is only so much the funeral home can do to make everything look “normal”. Poor mama, they should have just had a closed casket as people still took videos and photos against the mothers request.
Do they give the family private time with the deceased before extended family and friends come in in Jamaica? I understand the extenuating circumstances with this young woman and why the blanket is placed over her face per her mother’s wishes. This one was really difficult to watch. My chest was physically in pain. This poor mama.
I wanted to ask, not in relation to this funeral but in general, why do they not embalm in Jamaica? Why no open caskets?

I never knew or met the beautiful late Slickiana. I pray her family find some peace although that's not a reality for them. I saw her in my dream last night. She is concerned for her son's schooling. She gave me a yellow enrollment form. That is for a school she wishes he attends. I understand her mom's request of not wanting her daughter on social media, but yet I'm confused because she had her placed in a see-through casket. It's like saying look but don't look. If anything she should have had her in a regular casket, had the viewing of her choice and had more control because once the casket is closed there is no more visibility with the ability to film or take pictures of her.

We want to see her face if we got dressed to get a church & see a see thru casket .. it’s not going to make a difference if pictures are taking or not.
